Chapter 81
“Let’s put these on, Alfred. Then we can join the commotion, and get to my sister.” Jeremy said quickly. “I think it’s only one pair, sir.” Alfred said, staring intently at the bundle of clothes in his boss’ hands. “One pair. I don’t think so. Oh wait, it is.” Jeremy looked at Alfred, after realizing his mistake. “Well it doesn’t matter. I need someone to get the car ready once I receive Naomi. You are the only I can trust for this job.” Jeremy said and Alfred understood. He gave a nod and turned back the way they came. Jeremy quickly put on the clothes. He glanced at his phone. It was past midnight and he knew his mother would be worried sick, waiting for his return. Jeremy sighed. Both the rich and poor had their own problems. His problems when he was rich was greater than when he was in a poor state. At least, he didn’t bring such dangerous attention that would endanger the life of his family. Now, his sister w

“Are you sure he’d be fine?” “It’s almost a day and he hasn’t woken up.” Jeremy stirred in his sleep, troubled by the voices he heard. His eyes opened and he felt a headache, causing him to groan in pain. “Where am I?” He mumbled, rising from his bed. He looked around to see his mother, Amy, and his sister staring at him. “Naomi! Are you okay now? I thought I lost you.” Jeremy yelled when he remembered what had happened in last night’s event. “I’m sorry for not taking extra care of you. I didn’t realize people could do such a thing.” There was a smile of relief appeared on his face. “You were asleep for almost a day, big brother.” Naomi walked closer to him. “Yeah, Boss. I thought you were dead.” Amy chipped in, causing the family to glare at her. The air suddenly became stiff for the poor woman. “Cough. I’ll wait outside.” She let out an awkward smile and walked away. “I was asleep

“Have you spoken to Ariel?” Jeremy asked. He sat in his well-furnished office, facing his assistant. “Yes, sir. She says she needs our help in framing her uncle.” Amy replied, her voice filled with respect. Jeremy wondered what his ex-wife was up to. He didn’t want her to think he still cared about her especially when he didn’t “Do what she needs from you and tell me whatever happens.” Jeremy replied, swirling around in his chair. He was back to be in his office but it was also a bit tiring, seeing that he had a lot of work and a lot of things to attend to. “What about Lancer? I need to know what’s happening to the fool who dared to defy me.” Jeremy’s face took on a very dark look when he spoke about Lancer. This was someone who had gone past his boundary and targeted his family. He wouldn’t forgive the man that easily. He needed him to serve as some sort of remainder to anyone who would dare again. “He has been taken to t

Jeremy drove down the street, it had been a long time since he came to the mansion. He wondered how Ariel would feel on seeing him after he had given her such an amount. It was highly possible that she would be angry at him. “I hope she’d accept this.” Jeremy sighed, looking at the divorce papers on the passenger’s seat. He had gone to the Verde’s lawyer to ask for it, after making the man swear not to tell anyone. Jeremy looked around, the place was just like he remembered. It was good for him to take it all in now as he would soon leave here. Starting a new life was a real big deal and it would be one for anybody, especially him who had spent more than twenty years of his life in a place. He knew it would be hard for him but he had to do it for his family. “We’ll be fine. We have to be.” Jeremy muttered to himself. He arrived at the mansion, and parked his car in front of the gate. “Who’s that?” A bearded man st

Ariel sucked in a deep breath and looked back to Jeremy. She didn’t know if to feel happy or sad that her brother, Noah, talked to Jeremy like that. However, based on the interactions she had with Jeremy so far, he didn’t look or act like the trash he was a few months ago. “Please don’t say that, Noah. It’s Jeremy, and he isn’t trash.” Ariel said, an attempt to defend Jeremy, wanting to let him know she was on his side. Jeremy looked to the door, he couldn’t hear what the siblings were saying. He looked at his phone and sent a message to Amy along with his location. He thought he couldn’t just break the divorce like that and he had to somehow gift his wife and her siblings a little something. “Why would you even support him, Ariel? He left you in marriage.” Noah frowned at his sister. He gently pushed her aside and went over to Jeremy. “Just let Noah handle this.” Joachim told her and he and Matt followed him. Jeremy looked

Jeremy looked at the time. He still had a lot to do so he went to Daneel’s house. He parked the car and went to the building. He was about to knock when he heard some yells coming from the house. It sounded like the voice of an elderly woman. “You only sleep and eat here, like the useless scum that you are. I don’t know what my daughter sees in you and she’d never listen to me and throw you out.” The elderly woman said. Jeremy could feel the familiarity of those words as they had also been said to him. He had a feeling this was what his friend Daneel would be facing too. “It’s not my fault, mother-in-law. Your daughter told me not to work for a while. So don’t blame it on me.” Daneel shot back and Jeremy was glad that his friend had some fight in him. Jeremy was the quiet type and he wasn’t the type to talk back. He would simply bear the insults and don’t say a word. This was a path Daneel didn’t follow and he felt proud.

Chapter 87
Jeremy stood at the door of the conference room, staring at Amy and his friend, Daneel. He wasn’t going to get involved because he didn’t want these people thinking he had anything to do with bringing Daneel into the group. It was best to leave it as it currently was. Jeremy saw how his board members were driving questions towards Daneel. He was sure most of them were meaningless questions with the way Amy was frowning. His eyes went to his friend, Daneel. His friend looked as confident as ever and it was something that somewhat gave him joy. He knew Daneel had the smartness in him and it was time to let it show forth. His phone rang and when he looked at it, he saw that it was his sister. He wondered why Naomi would be calling him at such a moment. It was rather late and in the next hour, the company would be closing. He had to tell all board members that he would pay them for the extra hours that they spent working. “Yes,
Chapter 88
Jeremy smiled at the old man, who was inwardly fuming. He was trapped by some sort of stupid contract. How could he be so blind? He didn't blame himself. He blamed how enticing it was to be a board member with such large amount of money and now he couldn't even leave. Mr Greenwich kissed his teeth, a little part of him was glad though but his pride didn't allow him to show it. Due to most of Jeremy's decisions, the company had been in a flourishing state and they were even paid higher. He had overheard some people saying that it was because the boss had nothing to do with such large amount of money that he was spending so lavishly. Greenwich didn't agree with them, he liked to think that it was because they had worked so well, and this was why their salary was increased. He had adored this so called young boss but not he felt betrayed. "Do you still want to leave, Mr. Greenwich?" Jeremy's voice brought the man back to reality and he looked awa

"You did pretty good, boss." Ariel smiled, stepping out of the room with her boss. She knew what she did was brutal as she left Daneel all by himself. However, something told her that the man would be fine. He would be able to handle those old geezers. Jeremy didn't say anything. He simply turned back, "How's everything with Ariel." He asked. He couldn't understand what she would not get out of his mind. "Yes Sir. We have been able to assist her. I have a feeling she has gone ahead as planned." Amy said, wondering why her boss was always asking about this woman. She followed Jeremy to the elevator and wondered if she should ask him about what he thought. But decided to keep quiet first. Jeremy stepped out of the elevator, his mind on what he would be doing next. He wondered who would be willing to buy the house where his mother stayed. "Excuse me Sir." Amy said, stopping him in his tracks.
Chapter 90
"Hundred million dollars! That's the price of the estate, Mister!" She announced mockingly. The receptionist's smirk quickly vanished as Jeremy calmly stood up. He strode over to her, slowly but deliberately. Without a word, he took out his phone, dialed a number, and spoke, "I want to buy the company. Now." It was a bold move but he didn't care. He had enough of people trying to ridicule him, he would prove to them that he wasn't just a scum in their eyes. To do these kind of things, he had to act big and great. Buying an estate of a hundred million wasn't big to him anymore. He would target the whole company. The true definition of a boss. The receptionist stared at Jeremy in disbelief as she tried to process what had just happened. "You... you can't be serious," she stammered. Who would do such a thing and buy a whole estate. He must be bluffing, the receptionist tells herself. If this man bought the whole company, it meant that s
