Recognizing Him
NESSE’S POVAs much as I wanted to sympathize with my mum over her sob-story, I wasn’t going to let her own mistakes ruin things for me.“Miss Nesse, your new appointment is at the Loft Restaurant,” my secretary told me over the phone.“Alright, got it,” I said.I hadn’t still gotten back to the company, so she had to call me to inform me. I checked my wristwatch and found out that I barely had thirty minutes, so it would be better if I simply went to the restaurant and waited.Besides, I wouldn’t get there until about fifteen minutes.“To the Loft Restaurant,” I told my driver.“Yes, ma’am,” he answered dutifully. The restaurant was one of the best in the city, and I always liked their appetizers, so I might be able to get something real quick into my stomach before his arrival. I only hoped that he hadn’t heard most of these rumors and decided to back out. This contract was quite important to me.We arrived at the restaurant in exactly fifteen minutes, just as I had estimated, and I
The Loft Restaurant
NESSE’S POVUndoubtedly, he was the same man!I hadn’t looked at his face that day because I wasn’t interested in what he was asking, but I knew deep down inside of me that he was the one.“Miss Nesse?” Denzel called when I wasn’t paying any attention to him again.I didn’t even hear his last question.“Yes,” I said, trying to snap out of the thought so that I could concentrate on this meeting, but I couldn’t.The feeling was nudging at me, and my gut was telling me that he was responsible for whatever happened to Vince. The Loreson’s family hadn’t officially opened the case on his death. They were still holding me responsible, which was weird, because Vince’s father just asked my mum to marry him. This was a sickening family dynamic and I was upset that my mum had roped me into it.Regardless of the fact that the case hadn’t been officially open for investigation, the police needed to know about the man I just saw. He needed to be arrested and questioned, but how could I make that ha
Worthless
HADES’ POV“What could be so special about her that Iron couldn’t let go of?” I asked myself as I made my way smoothly out of the damn restaurant.Curiosity simply made me watch her.Iron claimed that he was never going back to her or anything that concerned her when the divorce was settled, but twice, he had gone back to his word, and I worried that he might have fallen in love with her.But I couldn’t find anything attractive about Nesse.Other than the fact that she was wealthy and influential, there wasn’t anything else to her. She wasn’t appealing or attractive. She was certainly not anything close to Hera who had been young, beautiful, and gentle.Nesse was a sharp contrast. And she was way older.“So what is it about Iron and going back to her?” I asked myself again. The anger in me just kept building, and I wanted to find out why Iron kept doing what he assured me that he wasn’t doing. The only problem was that I couldn’t go to the Seer to find out why Iron was going to him.H
A Deal For Her
IRON’S POV“I want to see Diana and Eric,” I requested before going into my chamber and sitting on my throne.Jane’s words were stuck in my chest, unable to get rid of them. The only problem was that she never gave more information. It was as though she was giving half-prophecies and leaving me to do the finding of what she had acclaimed. She couldn’t be wrong. Her words were too deep. She was blind, but it was as though she had internal eyes to see what others couldn’t see.“But why isn’t she telling me in plain terms?” I asked myself worriedly. These words were going to torment me until I found out who they were or what she was talking about, and that was just what I didn’t like. If I hadn’t discovered that she was referring to Nesse in good time, she would have been dead by now, and I would have felt horrible about it.I had already sworn to protect Nesse regardless of the fact that I already signed the divorce papers, and I didn’t even need her to know that I was doing anything of
The Monster
JULES’S POVThe news about Nesse’s drama at the restaurant was circulating all over the internet and it wasn’t good. The restaurant had given their statement, but from what they said, they were trying to paint Nesse in a bad light, indirectly calling her a psychopathic.“She claimed that she was being watched, but we found out that it was just a customer having brunch at our restaurant. Then she claimed that a reporter had accosted her. Initially, she informed our server that she was expecting someone, but later, she began to act really wild. We did show her the description of somehow she gave, but she ended up saying he wasn’t the suspect. Everyone who visits our restaurant knows that we don’t let the bloggers and press in, and yet, she insisted that she was accosted by one, and till this very moment, she has not been able to point out anyone to us. While we sympathize with Miss Nesse on everything that is going on with her, we strongly advise that she seeks therapy.”Those damn fool
Her Replacement
ATHENA’S POV“Why did you go where I specifically informed you not to go to?” I asked Belle after leaving Lord Dante’s presence.I was already getting ready for the task that he gave me.“What are you talking about?” Belle asked me.“Jane’s room,” I reminded her.“Oh, that, I lost my way,” Belle answered flippantly.I stopped what I was doing and turned to her.“Belle, you have been here for days, and I have shown you everywhere you can freely go to. You have been doing so on your own for days, and all of a sudden you lost your way?” I asked her, getting upset.“I really did, Athena,” she said.I could stay right here and get upset with Belle, but I didn’t have that time. From the instruction I was given, I had barely forty minutes to get there, otherwise I would miss her.“But what’s the big deal anyway? She is just a little blind girl,” Belle said. The moment she said those words, I went to her swiftly and grabbed her.“Don’t you ever say that about her,” I warned Belle dreadfully.
New Development
NESSE’S POVWhen I heard the buzzing sound, I checked my camera and saw that it was Larry.“Let him in,” I told my security guard. Before now, I hadn’t even been taking my cameras seriously, but with everything that had been happening, I knew that I would have to been serious about it. That way, no one would come in through the gate without my permission.Reinstalling it wasn’t a big deal as all I needed to do was press a few keys and have a password.I waited for Larry in the living room.“A lovely evening to you, Nesse,” he said slowly, getting close to me.Too close.“Stop right there,” I stated and gestured with my hand as well. “Do you have it?” I asked him.“Why do you have to be so uptight with me, huh?” He asked. “I have been here for you for years, Nesse, and yet, you went off and married a stranger,” he added.I couldn’t see anything in his hand, and that made me even more upset.“I am going to ask my security to throw you out if you don’t have anything for me, Larry,” I tol
Halved Loyalty
HADES’ POVHelheim said Vince wanted to see me, but I didn’t go to the address until it was two hours later than the scheduled time. And that was because I knew exactly what I was doing. Vince could not be trusted.Ironically, I had never set eyes on Vince before, which was why I had killed the wrong person. The truth was that Vince was more secretive than any of Iron’s enemies. He mostly operated through the people he used, and as a result, he was ever around anyone or even found anywhere.Vince was like the wind, and even though I hadn’t met him in person, I wasn’t stupid to just go to him simply because he wanted to see me. He knew that he was Iron’s enemy and Iron was seeking his life. He also knew that Iron had sent me once to have him killed, but I ended up doing that on the wrong person. He fucking knew, and there was no way he wouldn’t have his own plans.Vince was sneakier, slimier, and trickier than Helheim. According to what I heard about him, he was the oldest, but his pow
On A Plate
IRON’S POVBlake had been in my chamber explaining to me some of the challenging that the Titans had been facing for a while now before I returned, but my mind wasn’t fully in it.I was worried about Hades’ whereabouts.“Hades,” I called him the moment I saw him walking past.He kept his eyes away from the chamber as though it didn’t exist, or that he didn’t know I would be seated right here.Hades turned, bowed slightly, and said, “Lord Dante.”Never had I witnessed such depth of mockery in my entire existence, and my jaw tightened with annoyance.“Get in here,” I commanded, thinking that he would disobey because of Blake’s presence, but he didn’t.Rather, he walked into the chamber, but he did with such leisure that it would have been the same insult if he had walked out on me.“I am here,” he said, his face tight with deep expressions.“Where have you been?” I asked him.“Out,” Hades answered and left him at that.“Out where?” I asked him, my anger bubbling to the surface rapidly.
Death Within
IRON’S POV“You can’t possibly be asking for that, Hades,” I told him.“I think I have worked hard enough to know that I deserve it, Iron,” Hades said. “You have allowed this to go on for this long and he has gotten comfortable with it,” he added.“I know that Blake can be rough around the edges, but that doesn’t mean that you should kill him,” I said, trying to reason with Hades, but from his eyes, it was obvious that he was already determined.“If I can’t have Blake’s head, then I am not getting Vince killed for you,” Hades said without flinching. “I already killed Helheim for you, and you and I know that the battle ahead is a lot,” he added. Then he turned and walked away.Hades was right.Even if I got Vince killed, I still had to deal with the Valhallahs. They were my biggest enemies, and I wanted all of them crushed, from their leader to the least member, and in order to achieve that, I would need someone as trustworthy and strong as Hades. But Blake’s head? That was too much.T
