chapter 11 - First Class
The lecture hall was vast, built to seat hundreds, the atmosphere was full of chatter as students filed in Without being told, they arranged themselves according to the color of the metal pinned to their chests. The Gold badges filled the front rows, Silver badges took the center while the Bronze badges were seated at the back. As they entered, all eyes drifted towards both of them. Harry hesitant to part ways glanced at Lucian. “Gosh can't they chill with the hierarchy bullshit” “Don’t worry, bro,” Lucian said quietly, forcing a small smile. “Just go ahead sit with your peers at the front I’ll be fine at the back.” His eyes flicked to the crowded Bronze section, then back to the front where others were watching to see if they'll repeat what they did earlier at breakfast. “We’ll catch up after class,” Lucian added, giving him a nudge. “Same as always.” After a second’s hesitation, Harry nodded. He clapped Lucian’s shoulder once before heading toward the Gold row. Lucia
chapter 12 - Visit to the Library
The murmur of voices hadn’t settled since the lecture ended. Students poured out of the lecture hall in clusters, their expressions ranging from excitement to unease. The images Vian had showed portals vomiting hordes of beasts, humanoid creatures standing amid ruined cities still lingered in their minds like an afterimage burned into the eye. It was hard to shake off the sight of cities being reduced to nothing. Lucian walked alongside a group of friends, his gaze lowered in deep thought. “So… did you see that thing?” a bronze student whispered, glancing around as if the walls might hear him. “That humanoid beast. They said it killed 5 star hunters.” “what really,” another replied nervously. “And they’re calling it a Lower Dragon? What the hell are higher ones gonna be capable of? If a 5 star hunter doesn't stand a chance what chance do we have.” The fear in the air was thick enough to taste. For the bronze students, the reality of their profession as hunters was crashing dow
chapter 13 - can't find a match
The library felt alive as students moved between the towering shelves, their fingers tracing the spines of books, their eyes sharp with focus. Some whispered to one another while Others stood in solitude, flipping through meditation manuals. Those from powerful backgrounds barely went to rows of meditation manuals. They marched straight to specific shelves that had skill books. Seeing a tall boy with a silver badge bypass the Warrior section entirely, Lucian thought to himself ”he's one of those that already train high-grade cultivation techniques since childhood.” He exhaled slowly, a puff of envy escaping his lips. “Must be nice to have the road paved in gold before you even take a step.” Not far away, Harry was already finishing up. He stood in the center of the Mage section, holding a manual Thunder-God breathing style. Harry skimmed the first few pages, a curious expression on his face, then nodded once. He tucked the lightning-attribute manual under his arm and headed to l
chapter 14: first practice
The moment Lucian agreed to learn the technique the book shattered into particles of golden light that swirled up his arm and shot directly into his forehead. [ Divine Totem Meditation Technique has been acquired] A sudden, splitting headache hammered Lucian’s skull It wasn't pain, leaving him staggering back, clutching his head as information of the technique flooded his brain "Ugh... my brain..." He blinked, shaking off the sudden dizziness. The shelf in front of him was empty. The book was gone. "What the hell are you doing?" The voice came from right behind, sharp and suspicious. Lucian spun around, his heart jumping into his throat. Standing there, holding a green leather-bound grimoire, was the silver-haired girl from the assessment Graece. The Plant Mage. Her piercing green eyes darted from Lucian’s pale face to the empty spot on the shelf. "Lucian... right?" she asked, her eyes narrowing. "What was that light just now?" “Shit, she saw”. Lucian’s mind race
Chapter 15: Body as the Weapon
Lucian didn’t wake up to the sound of the academy alarm. He woke up to the sensation of his own cells screaming. It was a hollow, gnawing ache that started in his marrow and spread to his stomach. He sat up abruptly, gasping for air, his skin coated in a thin, grimy layer of grey impurities—the "waste" his body had expelled during his first successful cultivation of the Divine Totem technique He felt lighter and his mind felt like a sharpened blade until the pangs of hunger hit his stomach. “Ugh I'm starving yesterday's training must have drained everything I had” he groaned “Let me quickly hit those showers and head for breakfast” Once he finished, he hit the showers, got dressed, grabbed breakfast, and headed to class. The first class of the day was physical training, focused on stamina. It was compulsory for all first-year students, regardless of their specialisation. They began with endurance drills, running laps around the field until their lungs burned and their legs trem
Chapter 16: moment of impact
“Now, find for yourselves sparring partners,” Kenshi’s voice rang out across the dojo, calm but edged with authority. “To get stronger, you must immerse yourselves in the friction of combat. Each of you is to hit and block your partner’s blows by channelling mana to reinforce your fists. This will teach you, firsthand, how to control your essence when the pressure rises and how to improve the effect of your attack.” He paused, letting his sharp gaze sweep over the gathered students like a blade. “This is a sparring session, not a full-blown duel. Be mindful of your output.” A ripple of movement spread through the dojo as students paired off. Lucian’s eyes scanned the room, finally locking on a figure he hadn’t expected to step forward: Ross, one of Damien's most persistent lackeys. Ross stood broad-shouldered, his physical frame overwhelmingly intimidating for their age. A smug grin twisted his features, a look that made Lucian’s stomach churn. That brief, humiliating cafeteria e
Chapter 17: level up
The silence that followed was deafening. Every student in the dojo stood frozen, the air still vibrating from the sudden suppression of Kenshi’s mana. Ross was panting, his face displayed a dawning realisation of how far he had gone. Kenshi’s grip on Ross’s wrist didn't loosen immediately. He turned his head slightly, his sharp eyes moving from Ross to Lucian. “Both of you are meant to be sparring that's what this class is for,” Kenshi said, his voice dropping to a low tone. “Instead, you two let yourselves get carried away. If you cannot control your intent, you have no business being here .” He released Ross’s arm. The lackey stumbled back, rubbing his wrist, the smugness finally replaced by a look of genuine fear. Kenshi then looked at Lucian. There was no praise in his eyes, but a flicker of recognition. “Go. Cool your heads,” Kenshi commanded, turning to the rest of the class “We're done here for today” As Lucian stepped back, trying to steady his trembling hands A du

Corbin dropped to his knees, coughing violently. He clutched his stomach as bile and vomit spilt onto the pavement, the acidic stench filling the narrow space. Whatever flickering, desperate flames he’d managed to summon had vanished completely, extinguished by the sheer force of Lucian’s strike. Seeing his friend collapse in such a pathetic state enraged Dan. His face contorted into a mask of pure fury, his veins bulging against his neck. “How dare you!” he roared. He rushed forward, launching a massive right swing. The blow was so swift and heavy that it whistled through the air like a falling log. Lucian’s instincts screamed; he leapt back instinctively, the fist missing his nose by mere centimetres. The sheer displacement of air ruffled his auburn hair. Gosh, I need to improve my agility stats after this, Lucian thought, his heart hammering against his ribs. I’m still not fast enough to read him comfortably. “You were acting like some tough guy, and now you're jumping about
chapter 19: mortal hunter combat
“Hey bro, you finally came! What took you so long?” “Sorry man, I ran into some trouble. A couple of bullies were trying to extort a classmate. You know how those gold-badge assholes are—I couldn’t just walk away. I had to handle it.” Lucian grinned. “My bro’s a superhero now, huh?” “Hey, take it easy,” Harry replied with a chuckle. “You don’t wanna piss off a whole gang of bullies. You can’t fend them off on your own. I’ll definitely help if you’re in trouble, but it’s just the two of us—what can we really do against a group? We’d just get our asses kicked.” “Hahaha!” They both burst into laughter. Then, out of the corner of his eye, Lucian caught sight of a silver-haired girl. His heart skipped a beat. There she was—Graece—the one he’d been trying his best to avoid. He never imagined she’d be here with Harry. “Hey, Lucian,” she said casually. “Hey,” he replied, forcing calm into his voice. Inwardly, his mind raced. What’s she doing here? Did she convince him to call m

“You can even play against other players online, though,” Harry added. “For real? That’s awesome!” Lucian’s eyes lit up in excitement. “Yeah, but not right now. Let’s save that for later. Who’s hungry for some mouth-watering food?” “What place do you have in mind, Harry?” Graece asked, raising an eyebrow. “There’s this spot in the food stall section that does killer African cuisine. I tried it last time I was here. Trust me—you guys are gonna love it. Come on.” Harry led the way, with Lucian and Graece following close behind. As they approached the restaurant entrance, a rich, inviting aroma—spicy, smoky, and full of promise—wafted over their nose. “Mmm, smells really incredible,” Lucian said, inhaling deeply. “This is definitely gonna be tasty. You sure don’t disappoint, Harry.” Graece smiled faintly. “He really doesn’t.” Harry grinned back. “Told you so.” They found a table with three seats near the open side and settled in. Within a minute, a dark-skinned waiter a
