Chapter 70 The real truth
Richard's face went pale. He had tons of questions, but he didn't know where to begin or what questions to even ask. He waved his hands in the air, and immediately the waitress who waited on him before rushed toward his table. “Can I get your orders, sir?” she asked with a smile. “Get me a glass of whiskey,” Richard said immediately. The girl looked at Richard; she could see that he had another look entirely on his face. She walked away without making any comments. Meanwhile, the man sat down with an air of confidence. “I know you have tons of questions to ask me, but I won't be answering all of them. Not today.” He adjusted his seat and bent a bit. “But you can ask me one question. Just one.” Richard knew the question to ask. “The system—have you been giving me the task right from the start?” The man smiled. “That is a wise question, Richard. But the answer to that is no. The system was built specifically for you alone. I don't have any interference with it, although it acti

Chapter 72: The Trap Ahead
“Spell it out?” Richard snapped back. “Yes! Maybe if you people didn’t keep secrets from me, I wouldn’t be confused every second!”The masked man ignored Richard's angry words. He simply raised a finger.“You. Richard Tucker. You are the target.”Richard’s stomach twisted. His hands tightened around the steering wheel.“Me? Why? What did I even do?”“You were born,” the masked man replied flatly.“What kind of stupid answer is that?!”The masked man didn’t bother looking at him. “Your father’s legacy. That is what this is all about. What he left behind. What they think you know. And what they fear you will find.”Richard shook his head fast.“I don’t know anything! I don’t even understand half of what’s happening!”“You will,” the masked man said. “Soon.”The road ahead began to bend sharply. The system highlighted the turn with a faint glowing blue line.

Chapter 73: Reality sets in.
As the gigantic gate opened, the car that was half-baked drove into the sprawling estate. Richard's breath was etched in his throat. He could barely believe what he was seeing. “This is a paradise on earth,” he let out slowly. The man beside him now had disappeared. The phantom kept driving until it drove itself into a garage. A young man walked out with a smile plastered on his face. He bowed his head immediately. “It's good to have you here, Mr. Richard. We have been expecting you for a while now. Let me fix your car. Can I have the keys?” Richard was fazed for a couple of minutes. He held onto the key and was not sure he heard what the young man said. “Are you AI?” Richard asked immediately, walking closer to him. “AI?” The young man asked, squeezing his eyebrows. “Of course not. I will be your mechanic as I have been to your father.” Richard smiled. “And how many years have you worked for him?” he asked, folding his arms. The man was about to talk when he heard footsteps
Chapter 74: An angry face
[ Gunshot sound ] The first man fell down right in front of Thomas Bishop. His blood pooled towards where the rest of the others were standing. Each of them shaking. Fear was visibly seen on Brian Lawrence's face. He had his hands behind his back. Thomas held the desert eagle in his hand, staring at their faces. “ Do you know what you have just done?” he shouted in anger. “ I gave you what you wanted Brian. But yet, you still managed to fail me!” “ I am sorry, Mr Thaoms. Give me one more chance. I promise I am going to make Richard Tucker kneel at your front!” Brian fell to the ground, pleading. [ Another gun shot sound ] Thud! Another man fell to the floor right in front of Brian. Brian froze. His whole body shook as the second man’s blood spread across the marble floor. The smell of gunpowder filled the room, mixing with fear. No one dared to breathe.Thomas Bishop lowered his gun slowly. His cold eyes stayed fixed on Brian.“ One more chance?” Thomas asked, his voice shar
Chapter 75: The new arrangement
Gerald Warren was in the living room when Dianne walked in drunk. His angry gaze landed on Kathleen and then went towards Margaret who has a magazine in her hand. “ You mean to tell me you grown adults cannot control just a single woman? One fucking woman. Can't you control your goddamn daughter for Christ sake!” “ The last time I remember she was your daughter too.” Kathleen replied, her gazing daring between her husband and Dianne who was climbing the stairs on her way to her room. “ What have you both done this time around?” Margaret grinned trying to play the dutiful aunt. “ Oh for duck's sake! Can you keep your trap!” Gerald said angrily. “ I can't cloth and feed you while you remain rude to me. The next time you try that will be your last time in this house.” Gerald warned, his hand tapping the table in front of him. “ I don't know how you are going to do it but you need her fixed. She is getting married to Brian and that is my final decision.” Gerald got to his feet aft
Chapter 77 ; A changed man
Richard stood still before the full lengthy mirror in front of him. His gaze hardened. He was looking almost unrecognisable. His eyes darted forwards towards the men who were seated in front of him. Among them were Tony, Troy, Cavin, Larry and some of his father's workers. “ Boss!” They all chorused standing to their feet. Tony and Troy kept staring at the men who were old enough to be Richard's father. They still didn't believe Richard was far more than they believed him to be. Larry stood up and brought a file forward to Richard. He said some words into his ears and went back to his seat. Richard gaze bored into the men one after the other. The thought of how he was going to deal with them was through only things in his mind. *[ Few weeks back ]“ I am safe.” Richard said over the phone trying to calm Troy and Tony down. “ You don't need to go to the station. I am going to disclose my location to you both. Come find me.” The call went flat while Larry who had ushered Richa
Chapter 78: The Truth That Scares
Dianne was not sure if what Richard said was actually making sense. She looked at him and was not sure of what to say. Richard’s words hung in the air. Dianne froze. Her lips parted a little, but no word came out. The noise from the café faded behind them. It suddenly felt like the whole place was watching them even though no one was.“Richard… what do you mean?” she finally whispered.Richard rested his back on the chair and exhaled deeply. His eyes shifted away, like he was looking at a memory far behind him.“Everything I know about myself… everything I believed… it’s all a lie,” he said quietly.Dianne blinked fast. “You’re scaring me. What do you mean?”Richard rubbed his temples slowly. His head felt heavy. He didn’t even know where to start.“I don’t remember my parents. I don’t remember my childhood. I don’t even know how I got my name. I only know what I was told. And now… I found out it’s all wrong.”Dianne reached out and held his hand, but Richard gently pulled his away
Chapter 79: No Pain, No Gain
Richard lay down while some of the medics worked on his face. His face was bruised from the punches Malik threw at him. Larry smiled. “You didn't strike me as a fighter. How did you get so good?” “I was never one.” Richard replied, his gaze darting over to where he stood with his back against the well-polished door. “So how did you manage to beat Malik? He is our best fighter here, and also most of the lads look up to him.” “Maybe he let me win.” Richard said with a side grin. He winced in pain each time he was treated. “What now?” Larry let out a long sigh. “Now, you get familiarized with everyone and everything here. You forget about your whole life, and we build a new one based on vengeance. A life where you live for only one mission only. Kill Thomas Bishop.” “All done.” "One of the men in the white jacket," he said, staring at his face. “Thanks.” Richard said with a bow. But the man looked at him. “You bow to no one, Master Richard. We are here to serve you.” Larry look
