CHAPTER 71
“Believe it or not,” Scofield replied, shrugging. “The Supreme One doesn’t show his face. Nobody knows what he looks like; he’s always behind a mask and never reveals his face. His real identity is a mystery.”The place fell silent for a second and then Derek asked, “How do you find him?”Scofield’s smile thinned. “Nobody finds him. He is the one that finds you. He only reveals himself when he needs to. That is why he is called the supreme one.”Derek stepped closer, his voice dropping low. “If you help me find him; I give you my words I will release you from this cell”. Jeff tilted his head to look at his master, clearly objecting the idea. But he didn’t voice it out. .Scofield leaned forward again, his voice dropping to a near whisper. “Listen to me, Mr. Hilton. I’ve done terrible things. I’ve crossed lines you wouldn’t even acknowledge exist. In as much as I want to leave this place by all cost —I rather rot in this cell than accept your offer.”Derek’s eyes narrowed. “Why?”“Bec
CHAPTER 72
Ten days after Scofield’s mysterious death, Darren was in much better shape. Only a few bruises here and there remained unhealed, but overall he had recovered remarkably well and could do almost anything—except hard labor. But why should hard labor even concern him? The only hard work Darren did these days, after discovering he was the Hilton heir, was eating. He lived like a prince. That afternoon, Darren was having a conversation with his grandfather in the living room.“Grandpa,” he called.“Yes, my boy,” Derek replied, turning to face his grandson as he walked in.“Grandpa, I think it’s time for me to return to school,” Darren said. “I’ve been away for quite a while now. Who knows? They might have even started the exams already.”The old man chuckled smugly. “Oh, that?” he said dismissively. “Don’t worry. Your school is on break.”Darren tilted his head, a little puzzled. “Break? How do you know the school is on break? Universities don’t go on break until after exams.”Derek giggl
CHAPTER 73
All the eyes in the park turned towards the young man paving his way through the onlookers. Adrian frown deepened the moment he saw who it was that dared to interrupt in his business. It was a Darren. A resentful glint appeared in Adrian’s eyes. Darren had stepped on his feet a lot of times lately and he dared showed up again.Darren rushed to helpless young man lying on the ground. His battered body wincing in pain.Darren himself had being in a similar situation not too long ago; except that his condition was far worse than the state Isaiah was in right now.The moment he reached Isaiah, he crouched beside him and gently placed a hand on his shoulder. The boy flinched at first, then slowly looked up. His face was swollen, streaked with blood and dirt, his eyes glassy with pain and humiliation.“Easy,” Darren said calmly. “I’ve got you.”With effort, Darren helped him sit up, then slowly guided him to his feet. Isaiah’s legs trembled violently, barely able to support his own weigh

Soon they arrived the school clinic which was just a few minutes from the park where the incident had occurred.A few minutes later, Isaiah lay on the narrow bed, his shirt pulled up slightly as the nurse dabbed ointment onto the deep bruises forming along his ribs. With the shirt off, Darren could clearly see that he was bruised up more than he appeared.“This bastard!” Darren muttered with concealed rage. He was with Eddie besides the narrow bed watching as the nurse cleaned off blood and apply ointment where necessary. Finally, she sighed and asked in a pitiful tone. “Who did this to you boy?”Isaiah hesitated, his eyes flicking nervously toward the door as if Adrian might suddenly appear. Darren answered instead, his voice calm but firm.“Adrian Blake.”The nurse paused. Her hand froze midair for barely a second before she resumed her work as if nothing had been said. A humorless smile tugged at her lips.“I see,” she murmured. “He is the name I always hear when I treat such simi

They were practically shoved out of the office by security personnel moments later.Outside, Adrian burst into laughter.“Did you see his face?” he said mockingly, draping an arm around Clara. “You actually thought you could touch me?”Clara smirked. “You’re wasting your time, delivery boy,” she sneered at Darren. “No one listens to nobodies like you.”Adrian leaned closer to Darren, lowering his voice. “I told you before,” he said. “I’m untouchable.”Darren’s fists clenched at his sides. “You will pay for this,” he said quietly.Adrian laughed again. “I’ll be waiting.”Without another word, Darren turned away and helped Isaiah walk toward the security unit.If the dean wouldn’t listen, surely campus security would. The Chief Security Officer’s office was cramped and poorly ventilated. The man himself sat behind a desk cluttered with files and half-empty coffee cups. He looked up irritably as they entered.“What is it?” he asked.Darren repeated the story—everything, from start to fin

“Jeff,” he said as soon as the call connected, “I need you to do something for me.”There was a pause on the other end before Jeff responded, his tone deferential but alert. “Just say the words, young master?”Darren’s eyes narrowed. “First, make sure the dean, the chief security officer, and the VC—yes, all three of them—find a student names Isaiah who they have done injustice to and apologize to him. On their knees. Every single one of them. And Jeff”.Darren could hear the chuckle on the other end of the call. “Is that all? If you want I can make those three bastards jump of a story building.”“No. Just let them apologize. After that I will tell you what they should do next”. “Consider it done!”Darren hung up, a quiet sense of grim satisfaction settling over him. Later, the three of them—Darren, Eddie, and Isaiah—sat in their classroom, the familiar hum of chatter filling the air. Adrian and Clara were there as well, still brimming with arrogance. They leaned against the desks i
CHAPTER 77
The dean bowed his head once more, his shoulders sagging as though the weight of the entire encounter had finally caught up with him. His hands trembled faintly at his sides as he struggled to steady his breathing. “Thank you, Isaiah. Thank you…” His voice came out hoarse, barely louder than a whisper, each word heavy with gratitude and fear. He swallowed, his throat bobbing visibly. “I will live by my word,” he added, eyes lowered, as if he dared not meet Isaiah’s gaze again. Slowly, almost cautiously, he straightened up. Rather than turning his back immediately, he took small, backward steps toward the door, his movements stiff and uncertain, still visibly shaken as though one wrong motion might shatter what little composure he had left.As the dean finally exited the classroom, the door closing softly behind him, the tension he left behind did not disappear. Instead, it seemed to explode into hushed whispers. Students leaned toward one another, hands partially covering their mouths
CHAPTER 78
The moment Isaiah forgave the Vice-Chancellor, the man let out a breath he seemed to have been holding for far too long. Slowly, deliberately, he rose from his knees, his movements stiff, as though his legs no longer fully trusted him. His hands remained pressed together for a brief second longer than necessary before he finally lowered them, fingers twitching with residual nerves. He glanced once toward Darren and Eddie. Both men stood exactly as before—upright, composed, their expressions calm and unreadable, offering neither approval nor hostility. The VC lingered on them for half a heartbeat, then turned and made his way toward the door. His steps were careful, measured. When the door closed behind him, it did so with a soft, almost delicate click. The sound echoed louder than expected in the charged silence, sealing the moment and leaving the classroom suspended in stunned stillness. For several long seconds, no one spoke.Students sat frozen in their seats, breaths shallow, eyes
CHAPTER 79
Adrian, Clara, Thomas, and Marcus were escorted down the long, echoing hallway by the firm grip of the security officers. The clatter of their shoes on the polished floor seemed louder than usual. Behind them, the classroom was looming with gasps, whispers, and stifled laughter. For the first time, Adrian felt that familiar confidence slip, replaced by an unfamiliar, gnawing vulnerability that churned in his chest like molten fire.Clara’s hands trembled as she clutched her designer bag, her face pale and streaked with frustration. “I… I can’t believe this is happening,” she muttered, her usual arrogance absent, replaced by fear and humiliation. Her eyes darted sideways, catching glimpses of students still peering through the open doors, their curiosity and disbelief palpable. She turned to her boyfriend, her face twisted in disbelief. “Adrian! But how?” she startled. “Isn’t your father the highest donor to the school? I thought you had the VC in your pocket, how did we end up here…
CHAPTER 80
Two weeks later, the university was rather calm and less buzzy as students were busy studying and focused on the upcoming exams, which were to commence in a fortnight. Most of the students were either at the library reading their brains out, or gathered in groups of five to ten in classrooms, revising what they had learnt and helping each other out on difficult courses like mathematics.Like in all universities, there were also some caliber of unserious students who would not prepare for the exams and preferred to sneak textbooks into the exam halls to cheat and indulge in other forms of malpractice on exam day. While the other students were busy reading, this particular group of students were nonchalantly hanging around the park and gossiping amongst themselves. The chitty-chatty in most of the gatherings was about what had happened in school two weeks ago—Adrian and Clara’s suspension. Today was the day they were supposed to resume. It was still a shock to all the students how Adria
