ELUSIVENESS OF JUSTICE
“SAMUEL!” The judge wasn’t sure which Samuel he meant and wanted confirmation. She leaned forward slightly, adjusting her posture, and said, “Mention his name completely.” Vince furiously looked at him. Nolan shook, his voice trembling as he stammered, “His… his name is SAMUEL GORDON!” Everyone in the courtroom erupted in shock. Though a few already knew they were Samuel’s brothers, they still murmured in disbelief; someone of Samuel’s standards shouldn’t be the architect of all this. Many still refused to believe what they had just heard. While Lewis and his mom were excited, sensing the mastermind was finally about to be exposed at last. The judge lowered her eyeglasses slowly, her eyes narrowing as she said, “Do you mean Samuel Gordon, the CEO of Gordon Technologies?” Nolan regained his composure, a confident smile returning to his face. He knew exactly where he came from and the influence the Gordon family wielded in New York. “Yes, Ma’am. He’s the mastermind.
THE FRACTURE OF TRUTH
She pressed her palms gently against the bench. Lewis’s mother stared at the officers in disbelief, the lines of confusion deepening across her face. “So,” she said slowly, her voice edged with cold finality, “Samuel Gordon… is nowhere to be found.” A wave of murmurs rippled through the courtroom. Even the FOX News camera crew positioned near the aisle shifted in agitation, their red recording lights still glowing. The assistant district attorney straightened, clutching her folder tighter, trying and failing to hide the shock crossing her features. The judge let out a sharp exhale. “Given the absence of the accused and the ongoing confusion,” she declared, her tone slicing through the noise, “this court will stand down until further notice. All parties are hereby dismissed.” Gasps erupted instantly. The gavel struck once— THUD! Final. Cold. Unarguable. Lewis’s heartbeat hammered in his chest. His mother inhaled sharply beside him. Two officers moved toward them and un
THE WEIGHT OF EVIDENCE
“It was about how I got the evidence I used to defend ourselves.” His mom quickly remembered who might have given her son the footage. She raised her brows, saying softly, “I’ve remembered… That’s what I’ve been trying to find out.” She moved closer beside her son, her voice lowering with curiosity. “How did you get the evidence?” Lewis and his mom became focused as they stepped outside the Brooklyn Criminal Court. The late-evening air was chilly, the courthouse lights glowing dimly behind them. They paused for a moment, watching Nolan and Vince being pushed toward a Chevy Tahoe SUV. The men struggled against their handcuffs, twisting their wrists as they shot hateful looks at Lewis and his mom. Two officers beat their arms lightly to restrain them properly, then forcefully dragged them inside the SUV and shut the door. The engine growled, and the car drove off. Lewis and his mom began trekking toward the roadside. His mom tugged at her coat, still unsettled, saying,
SHADOWS OF UNANSWERED TRUTH
Lewis became confused trying to figure out what it might be. He leaned slightly forward and asked, “Which promise? Because I might have forgotten.” His mom shifted her eyes from the Hollywood movie back to him, her brows lifting gently. “I meant how you got the footage, as you wanted to explain earlier at the Criminal Court to me.” Lewis quickly remembered the promise he made to explain the evidence later. He nodded slowly. “Ahh! I can remember. I’ll start from how I received the Pixel phone.” They watched the Hollywood movie for a little while longer. Then he turned to her again, his expression tightening. “Mom! Hope you’re about to listen?” His mom turned fully towards him from the movie, folding her hands. “Yes! I’m listening.” Lewis cleared his throat, settling himself before he began. “As I was in that cell, an unknown man wearing a cardigan and a cap that covered his face appeared before me. He shoved the Pixel phone under the Riker gate and whispered tha
ECHOES OF A STOLEN PAST
Hours later, the morning sun slipped through the window, spreading a soft glow across the room. WHAM! WHAM!! A dog barked loudly outside the compound, jolting Lewis awake. He rose slowly, stretching his stiff shoulders, then walked to the window. From there, he watched the early movement along Clarks Street, students riding bicycles to school, and the bustle of residential buildings waking to the new day. He turned back and sat on the bed, rubbing his eyes. He picked up his Motorola phone and checked the time. Almost 8:00 AM. Just then—KNOCK! He stood up and opened the door. His mom, Maria, stepped in with sleepy eyes. He gently closed the door behind her. “How was your night?” he asked. She exhaled softly, her voice still drowsy. “So nice.” Lewis sat back on the bed and asked, “Hope you slept to your satisfaction?” Maria approached the small cushion nearby and sank into it. “Of course. I even felt your dad’s presence… I dreamt about him. This was our room years ba
SHADOWS OF A STOLEN LEGACY
Minutes later, they reached Williamsburg. Maria leaned slightly forward, pointing ahead. “Here’s the exact location.” Lewis slowed the Aston Martin DB11. Then—SCREECH! They stepped out into one of the most industrial zones of Brooklyn, where neon lights flickered even in daylight and towering skyscrapers loomed above. The place buzzed with movement, workers rushing across streets, delivery drones humming overhead, and electric vehicles gliding quietly along the roads. Lewis and his mom walked forward slowly. The area felt unfamiliar to him but overwhelmingly attractive. A moment later, a meteoric and towering giga-conglomerate emerged into view, a massive building stretching high into the clouds with GORDON TECHNOLOGIES boldly displayed on the front. Its logo glowed in a striking neon ring that rotated slowly, casting reflections across the glass walls. He was stunned as he stared at the massive tech empire his father had built. The beauty and iconic design were extraordinary;
THE DAY THE TRUTH BROKE US
Lewis wiped his eyes with the back of his hand and stared at the office door again, still seeing Samuel’s name engraved on the silver plate. His chest tightened. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Fury surged through him as he muttered, voice trembling. “Something is wrong!” His mother, still traumatized and frozen by the sight of Samuel’s name, especially with CEO boldly written where her husband’s name should have been, stood speechless. She couldn’t gather a single word. Lewis’s voice rose again, sharper, disbelieving. “So truly Samuel is the CEO? We thought the Criminal Court was joking when they said so.” Maria’s face turned pale as if blood drained completely. She stared at the plate in deep thought, lips parted but no words coming. Lewis couldn’t wait anymore. KNOCK! KNOCK!! He hit the door a bit louder than intended. No response. He grabbed the knob, and it was locked. His eyes darted to the small doorbell, and he pressed it three times; still no response. His mother qui
CLASH OF THE RIGHTFUL HEIR
“MARTIN GORDON! ” Lewis shouted the name quickly, confidently, and boldly, not even glancing at the faces around him. His voice echoed across the company floor. His mother stood beside him, slightly trembling, afraid of what the company might do. Across from them, the two executives froze. They couldn’t believe what they had just heard. Employees paused mid-step, security personnel stopped what they were doing, and everyone else within earshot turned. A wave of murmurs swept through the large hall. The female executive, still in deep shock, leaned forward, trying to confirm what she thought she heard. “Did you say who your dad is? ” Lewis repeated boldly again, but this time making the sentence clearer and fully understandable. “My biological father is Martin Gordon.” The female executive already knew who Maria was. She recognized her instantly and suspected Lewis was her son, yet she refused to show it on her face. Keeping her tone neutral, she asked for confirmation.
WHEN COURAGE COLLIDES WITH POWER
The three security officers rushed forward and grabbed them, but Lewis refused to move. Stubborn and furious, he planted his feet against the polished floor, muscles tensing as he held his ground. His mom had already been dragged ahead, her hands slipping through the guards’ grip as she tried to stay balanced, yet Lewis still forced himself backward with all his strength. The other two officers struggled to pull him forward, their arms tightening around him, but after a hard effort they finally managed to drag him despite his resistance. Lewis still refused to be dragged out. He shouted through the tightening grip around his arms: “Let go of us! This is our empire. You have no right to drag us out!” Everyone in the large lobby turned toward the commotion again, watching the dramatic scene unfold. Some employees stood frozen, still wondering how Lewis could be related to the Gordons, while others whispered among themselves, unsure if he was claiming something real or simply c
DEFIANCE AGAINST AUTHORITY
She laughed a little, her voice bold and confident as she spoke. “Lewis! What killed Martin is cardiac arrest.” Lewis froze, shocked that someone had finally revealed what killed his father. His mother was still far away and didn’t know yet. The three executives nearby stiffened, their faces tightening. The female executive snapped, her tone sharp and angry. “Is this the reason why you raised your hands?” But deep down, she was heartbroken that Abigail had finally revealed what they had been hiding. Lewis stepped forward slightly, his brows drawn in disbelief as he searched Abigail’s eyes for clarity. “Do you mean what killed my dad is cardiac arrest?” Abigail nodded gently, her eyes softening. She answered politely because of the deep love she carried for him. “Yes, of course.” The male executive who had earlier called the security guards stormed forward aggressively. He stopped right in front of Abigail, his face twisted with anger. “So you revealed what we’ve bee
