Chapter 271
The courtyard had turned into chaos. Gunfire cracked through the night, echoing off the walls. Smoke rolled across the ground from exploded rounds and shattered crates. Soldiers from both sides clashed in brutal hand-to-hand combat, boots scraping against concrete, metal clanging against metal as orders were shouted. At the center of it all stood Michael and Killian. They moved toward each other like magnets pulled by something inevitable. Killian struck first. He closed the distance in a blink, his fist glowing faintly green as it sliced through the air. Michael barely raised his arm in time to block, the impact sent a shockwave through his bones and forced him back three steps, boots digging into the courtyard stones. “You hit harder than you talk.” He muttered, steadying himself. Killian smirked and came again. “I was hoping you’d say that.” Michael ducked under the next swing and drove his shoulder into Killian’s chest. They crashed into a stone pillar, cracking it down th
Chapter 272
Barry rushed to Michael’s side, breathing hard from the fight and from the realization that something was terribly wrong. “We’ll get her back.” He said firmly, gripping Michael’s shoulder. Then he turned sharply to the soldiers still gathering themselves. “Go after them. Now!” A few soldiers immediately moved toward the gates, weapons ready. “No.” Michael’s voice cut through the noise like a blade. Barry blinked and looked at him. “No?” Michael shook his head, forcing himself to think past the anger boiling in his chest. “They want us to chase them.” Barry frowned. “So?” “So they attacked at midnight, retreated clean, and took Celia without resistance. That wasn’t panic, it was planning.” Michael’s jaw tightened. “If we pursue blindly into the dark, we’re walking straight into whatever trap they’ve prepared. We don’t know their route and we don’t know their numbers… We don’t know what they’ve rigged along the outskirts.” Barry exhaled slowly, understanding dawning. “Ambush.”
Chapter 273
Celia frowned at Jace, her head still pounding from where she had been hit. “What the hell do you mean tell you what’s going on?” She snapped. “I’m clueless myself.” Jace looked at her carefully, his expression hard despite the exhaustion in his eyes. “How am I supposed to know that? It’s not a coincidence that we’re both here, Celia. What exactly do you know?” She let out a bitter laugh and looked away. “Yeah, like I’d ever tell you anything.” The vehicle rumbled over uneven ground, throwing them slightly against the metal walls. The air inside was stuffy and smelled like fuel and iron. For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. Jace sighed and leaned his head back. “Fine. I’ll go first. Yesterday, a mysterious group traveled through the outskirts of Terra. They killed everyone on watch except one… Adrian was said to be among them. Does any of that ring a bell?” Celia’s eyes shifted, she hesitated before answering. "It's Killian.” She said quietly. “He’s the one who abducted us.”
Chapter 274
Adam dragged Celia and Jace across the rough ground and dropped them in front of Killian without care. “Watch it, ass hole!” Jace grunted, trying to push himself up, his eyes shifted to the side and he froze. A few men were gathered not far away, passing around his mechanical arm like it was some kind of trophy. One of them tapped it against a rock, laughing. Celia’s jaw tightened. She forced herself to stay calm and looked straight at Killian. “What do you want with us?” Killian stood with his hands behind his back, his posture relaxed as if they were guests instead of prisoners. “I want to put the people who care for you on edge.” He replied plainly. Celia swallowed. “What did you do to Adrian?” Killian raised an eyebrow and glanced at Adrian, who stood quietly a few steps behind him. “Why? Is something wrong?” “Don’t even try that,” Celia shot back. “That’s not the Adrian I know.” “We don’t care what you know.” Adam snapped. He turned to Killian with impatience in his voic
Chapter 275
Barry stared at Michael like he had just announced something insane. “You called Mira…” He said slowly, disbelief clear in his voice. “Tell me I heard that wrong.” Michael didn’t flinch. “You heard it right.” Barry let out a short, humorless laugh. “Have you lost your mind? She’s your enemy as long as the war is still on.” “And Killian isn’t?” Michael shot back. “He took Celia, he took Jace. He’s building something bigger than both our sides. You think this is still about territory?” Barry stepped closer, lowering his voice. “You don’t bring a rival leader into your operation, that’s basic strategy. She’ll study us, she’ll count our men and watch how we move.” Michael’s jaw tightened. “I know exactly what she’ll do.” “And you’re okay with that?” Barry asked. “I don’t have the luxury of pride right now.” Michael replied. “Celia is out there.” Barry paused at that, but he didn’t back down, “You’re thinking emotionally now? After what you said earlier?” “And you’re thinking li
Chapter 276
“I won’t ask again…” Mira’s eyes burned brighter, red light flickering wildly as anger surged through her. “Where is Jace?” Her body leaned forward, ready to launch, but Michael moved quickly and stepped in front of her. His arm stretched slightly across her path, not touching her, but stopping her all the same. “Don’t be reckless.” He said quietly. “Look at their weapons, they’re insanely enhanced. One shot and you’ll either be blasted away or knocked out.” Mira scoffed at him, brushing off the warning like it insulted her. “First of all, that’s not happening. Secondly…” She pointed directly at Killian, her finger steady despite the rage burning in her chest. “What the hell is his deal? Does he want to be involved so badly?” “It’s more than that.” Michael answered, his blue eyes shifted toward Killian. “I get that you’re angry. I understand what you feel…” Killian cracked into laughter, sharp and bitter. “You understand what I feel?” He asked, stepping forward slightly. “You st

Adrian suddenly tossed his gun aside as if it no longer interested him, he lifted his chin slightly and gestured for Barry to come at him. Barry did not hesitate. Adrian’s eyes began to glimmer green again, faint at first, then brighter. In one sharp motion, he sidestepped Barry’s strike and vanished from his line of sight. A split second later, he appeared behind him. “You’re not bad.” He whispered near Barry’s ear. “But I have to finish this quickly.” Barry stayed calm, even with Adrian’s breath close to his neck. “Monica’s waiting back home for you.” He said evenly. The effect was immediate, the green light in Adrian’s eyes flickered and died. His pupils returned to normal and his body stilled for just a moment. “Monica…” He called softly, as if testing the name. His jaw tightened, “You’re being unfair, Barry. Why are you mentioning her now?” “Didn’t you swear to protect her?” Barry shot back as he turned to face him. “Why are you fighting alongside this Killian guy now? And

“Celia!” Barry called out as he hurried to his feet after pushing Adrian aside, brushing dirt and dust off himself. Relief washed over his face the moment he saw her standing there. “Boy, am I glad to see you.” She gave him a small but genuine smile, still catching her breath. “Hey, Barry.” Her eyes quickly scanned the battlefield behind him, “What’s this I’m hearing about Michael and Mira working together?” Barry frowned as he adjusted Adrian’s weight on the ground before lifting him properly. “I don’t know what Michael’s thinking.” He admitted honestly. “This won’t do us any good in the long run.” Celia hesitated, “Is it because of me?” “And Jace.” Barry added quietly. Then his expression shifted…“Speaking of, where is he?” Celia looked back toward the direction she had escaped from and pointed faintly. “I left him back there in the truck.” Barry shrugged lightly, “He’ll handle himself.” He crouched down and pulled Adrian’s unconscious body up, throwing him carefully over his

Terra. Palace District. The large doors of the giant hallway opened slowly, and Mira stepped inside with Jace walking just behind her. At the far end of the hallway stood Gordon, leaning against the wall, waiting. “Made it in one piece, I see…” He muttered under his breath, “That's a relief.” Mira didn't say a word. She walked past him without slowing down, her eyes looking forward. Gordon sighed and straightened, “Now you’re not talking to me?” She kept walking as if he were not there. Jace paused in front of Gordon instead. Up close, the exhaustion on his face was obvious. Dirt lined his collar, and the sleeve where his mechanical arm used to be hung empty. “What’s that about?” He asked quietly. Gordon looked him over slowly. “You look like you’ve seen hell.” Jace gave a tired half-smile. “You don’t know the half of it. Now why isn’t she talking to you?” Before Gordon could respond, Mira’s voice cut through the hallway from ahead, “Jace. Medical wing, now.” Her tone left
Chapter 280
A week had passed since the clash with Killian, and it was as if he had vanished into thin air. No movement near Terra, no signs around Sunset City, no intercepted signals. That silence was worse than any open threat. Both Scofields were on edge, though neither would admit it out loud. Patrols had doubled, surveillance drones covered more ground, soldiers slept lightly, hands always near their weapons. No one knew when the enemy would strike again, or even who the enemy truly was anymore. Killian was a ghost, and ghosts were dangerous. Adrian had been moved out of the interrogation building after Monica insisted. She couldn’t stand the thought of him sitting under harsh lights like a criminal, even if no one had laid a hand on him. Now he was in his old room, chained to his bed at all times and under constant surveillance. The chains were heavy, the guards were alert, cameras never blinked. But deep down, everyone knew the truth. None of that was what kept him there. Adrian Bla
