Chapter 101
NOTE: THEY'LL BE OTHER EROTIC SERIES AFTER THIS STORY, SO STAY TUNED FOR MORE. DON'T FORGET TO DROP A REVIEW ON THE BOOK. A vast and ancient will turned its attention to him. Almost immediately, Greg realized that he hadn't just touched on the passions of a few orgy goers. Instead, he had touched on a force that had been there for as long as complex living beings had been around. Greg had gone in with the mind of corralling a law into control like some puppy. In reality, the thing he had touched on was no puppy, it wasn't even a fierce dragon. If anything, the fiercest dragon that Greg could imagine was little more than a puppy to this force. This was like taking a sip of water only to find that you had tried to swallow the volume of an ocean in one go. Or like trying to light a candle, only to find that it burned with the heat of the sun. Greg was like a paper figurine that had arrogantly walked into a furnace. To the mortal mind, desire was little more than a concept. A state of m
Chapter 102
Greg's eyes flew open even as he shot up to his feet with a gasp. It took a few seconds of looking at the wooden walls around him and the intricate runes drawn on them for his mind to register that he was back inside the airship. This was the room where the stasis formation, as he'd come to call it, had been carved. The last time he'd been here, the runes had been glowing gently taking barely any mana from him after he'd activated the formation. Given how brightly they were glowing now, they had probably been drawing mana from him for the entirety of the three months that he'd been back in Ethavel. Greg hadn't been able to feel it when he was in Ethavel, now that he was here, a part of him realized that he'd never left the room. He had no idea if it was his mind or his soul that had been roaming the streets of Ethavel. Whatever the case, his body had remained behind acting as a battery for this formation. Greg could remember being shocked at how little mana the formation took from him
Chapter 103
A look of approval crossed Morpheus' gaze at the question, almost as if he hadn't expected Greg to notice the contradiction so quickly. Greg wasn't sure whether to feel proud or insulted. Not giving him time to settle on one, Morpheus spoke. "Subversion," he stated. "To use the analogy you came up with, the poet, the philosopher, the scientist, and the stoner are all trying to understand the law as it currently is. They might come at it from different perspectives, but ultimately, they are trying to puzzle out what's already there. But, as I told you before, you need to add yourself to the picture. If you wish to not lose yourself to the greater law of desire, you need to add something that is uniquely you to your comprehension of the law. Whatever that twist is, it can't be anything shallow as it'll be the very foundation upon which the rest of your progression will be based. If it's not deep enough, the road ahead will be a rough one to tread!" Greg couldn't help but feel the weig
Chapter 104
With the women, however, anything they said could be taken at face value. You didn't have to second guess yourself or question their intentions. They weren't trying to get anything up on her or gain some benefit by being associated with her. It was a case of not knowing you were missing something until you encountered it. The simplicity of their conversations, not to mention, the warmth with which they engaged, always made the time spent with them that much more enjoyable. Of course, while she did enjoy their company, Calyn never lost sight of her goal. From time to time she'd bring Roka up in both subtle and not-so-subtle ways. She didn't try to hide her interest in the young man. After all, if she could win over his family, she'd have them in her corner when she finally went for him. "You don't have to worry, I promise you won't be disappointed by what he has down there," his mother answered with a mischievous glint in her eyes, catching Calyn completely off guard. "Mother!" Tayan
Chapter 105
It left her with a cold feeling in the pit of her stomach. Calyn wasn't blind to the cruelty of the magic world. Anyone who had been in it long enough would be stripped of any delusions whether they liked it or not. Knowing it and encountering it so starkly, however, were two different things. Some might be tempted to blame Roka for abandoning the women that he'd impregnated, and perhaps there was even some kernel of truth in the accusation. But then, with a pursuer like Mage Hira who was willing to massacre a whole village's worth of pregnant women just to pursue him, he was right to run. It would be easy to think that he should have just called on the deity to fight for him. Calyn, however, had sat across from Roka while he tried to free her from the obligation placed on her by the deity. Whatever their relationship, it was clear that Roka couldn't simply order the deity around. Besides, anyone who knew anything about tier-zero mages, knew that their lifespan was their greatest weak
Chapter 106
Calyn calmly took out the two strange-looking gauntlets from her storage ring. Rather than gloves that covered the whole hand, the gauntlets in her hands looked like someone had carved a skeleton of the human hand out of metal and attached it to a thick metal ring. The metal skeleton hands hang down loosely even as Calyn sent her mana through the metal ring causing it to open up into two semicircles. Bringing the opened ring to her wrist she snapped it shut around it. Immediately, the skeleton hand which had been hanging loosely from the ring, shot up and attached itself to the back of her hand. Calyn clenched her hand into a tight fist, watching with satisfaction as the runes along the bones glowed from the mana flowing through them."Ardinium, that's a hard metal to come by," came the comment from Olivia's clone as she watched her put on the second skeleton gauntlet."It was a gift from my father after I was betrothed to Deriel," Calyn answered, looking lovingly at the gleaming meta
Chapter 107
Calyn didn't fancy herself a genius tactician. As a member of a prominent clan, however, she had been taught enough that she could recognize what their attackers were thinking. This first force was probably filled with cannon fodder, with more than ninety percent of them expected not to return. But just because she recognized that these were throwaway forces meant to test them, didn't mean that they could be ignored. If she were the one commanding these forces, she'd have them carry something dangerous on them like poison or explosives. That way, even if her enemy knew what she was trying to do and chose not to engage the throwaway forces, they'd live to regret that decision. Whether that was the case with this vanguard force or not, they couldn't take the risk. "Explosive crossbows," a beefy-looking man in heavy armor seemed to be thinking the same as she was as he called out loudly to be heard by everyone on deck. "Ready, aim..." "Wait!" The eyes of everyone on deck turned to th
Chapter 108
"Bombs or poison?" Bloodhound, his first mate, questioned. Standing beside him, the man was a summoner and one of the most sadistic people Scar had ever had the displeasure of knowing. He was the kind of person you wanted fighting beside you but never behind you. Ferocious almost to a fault, the man enjoyed making his victims bleed and if allowed would drag out the deaths of his victims for as long as possible. Even if he was an ally, you always had to ensure that you had one eye on him at all times, lest you find yourself on the wrong side of his blade. Whatever his eccentricities, however, Bloodhound was still a tier lower than himself, meaning he had to lower his head, lest he lose it. Scar was perfectly aware of the fact that the man would betray and kill him if he ever was in a weakened position. But meticulous planner that he was, Scar had contingencies upon contingencies prepared for any such eventuality. "Poison, there is no need to damage our new ship," Scar replied, both hi
Chapter 109
Two months prior... What is willpower? Was it rigidness? Unwillingness to bend or break no matter what force one came up against? Was it adaptability? The ability to change to best fit the new circumstances one finds themselves in? Was it relentlessness? The pursuit of a certain goal regardless of what tried to bar your way or keep you from your goal? Was it endurance? Was it a measure of how many slings and arrows one can take? A measure of how much weight one can bear up under before they crumble? Was it changelessness? The refusal to change who you are regardless of one's circumstances, good or bad. Or maybe it was a measure of one's ability to exert their desires on the world around them? After all, what good is willpower if it does nothing tangible in the real world? All these were questions that Greg had asked himself over and over again those first few days as he was destroyed over and over again. When Morpheus had told him that he would die ten thousand times, he had though
Chapter 110
Olivia had an extraordinary sense for battle that allowed her to exhibit an almost oracular ability to predict your next move even before you thought to make it. However, even more terrifying than her ability to stay two steps ahead of the battle, was her ability to render useless her opponent's sense for battle. In the heat of battle, there was no time to think. No time to come up with clever moves to dazzle your foe with. In a true life-and-death battle where one wrong move could mean your demise, you only had the instincts that you had honed for battle. And yet, in her wake, Olivia's clones were leaving corpses of those who had trusted their instincts. It was one thing to hide your next move from someone's sense for battle. It was another thing entirely to take someone's battle sense and use it to kill them. The worst part was that, even with the fragmentary insight into what the woman was doing, Calyn still couldn't break through the deception. It was a lot like knowing you had
