Secret Heir
Corra and Bart stormed out of the bistro, their minds swirling with disbelief over Jax’s estranged silence. Anger and confusion coursed through them like a brewing storm. From a distance, Jax rubbed his face, grappling with the weight of his true identity and the fear of his friends’ reactions. He knew he had to come clean, even as his heart raced.Bart leaned against an old, rusty carriage by the end of the road, arms crossed tight over his chest, while Corra paced back and forth, her lips pursed in frustration. With a deep breath, Jax stepped forward, his gaze uncertain. “Spirits, Jax! Aren’t you freaking tired of bottling up this… this whole thing?” Bart blurted, fire blazing in his eyes as he stared Jax down.Jax's expression remained steely, yet he could sense Bart’s simmering anger.“Just freaking talk—”Corra's voice cut through the air like a whip, startling Jax into action. “Okay! Spirits!” he exclaimed, almost yelling, eyes wide, as he fought back the lump in his throat. “

Jax wasn't responding to her instructions. Corra looked from left to right, corner to corner, and then darted her eyes on Bart. “Whoa, don't look at me that way, Corra! I'm not fire-resistant!” he blurted out scarily, while she rolled her eyes, jerking the water flask that had been tied to his waist like a holster. “Jax,” she called out, turning to Jax with a pitiful gaze, “If you want us to die with you, then we'll walk into the fire with you, but if you want to fight for your rightful place, then use this water to quench the fire!” she said, in the hope that it would change his mind. “Please!” this time, the last word was bound to her mind. Since he was now looking at her directly, he heard her plea. “You don't have to threaten me with your lives…” Jax said, and by now the fire had eaten up his clothes. Corra pulled Bart by the wrist, emerging them towards the fire and said: “Then we'll die with you—” “No!” Jax yelled, “I'll come with you instead,” he added firmly
First task
…The stern-faced woman commanded the flying cyclops that were frozen, an unmistakable symbol of challenge, to blast the gates open with a whistle shaped like a cone. The sound resounded like a battle cry, nearly deafening the timid new arrivals. In an instant, the gates swung wide, unveiling an awe-inspiring sight.“Step into your destiny, Zetas—your doom! Go on!” her voice sliced through the air, claiming their attention. Jax was convinced that she had somehow used the whistle to project her voice, but he quickly dismissed the thought when he saw her lips move.“Stay close, everyone! I can’t afford to lose anyone…” Bart exclaimed, his tone a mix of excitement and concern. They clutched their meager possessions tightly, being commoners—thieves at that.As they marched through the colossal gates, their eyes widened at the dazzling spectacle of mechanical wonders and smart innovations buzzing above them. “This is far more incredible than I ever imagined…” Jax whispered, exhilaration
First task II
…Jax remained silent, his gaze fixed on the ground, not out of anger towards Corra, but because he was grappling with his own thoughts. “Still upset, huh? We really ought to outgrow this—” “Let’s focus on the task at hand. What just happened is behind us,” he replied, his flat tone pulling at her nerves. With a sigh, Corra rolled her eyes and attempted to walk away, but Bart’s voice sliced through the tension.“Time's ticking, and no one has found a task yet! Literally no one!” “Where do we go from here?” Corra muttered under her breath, frustration simmering as Bart and Jax looked just as lost.“The foliage!” Jax exclaimed suddenly, a flicker of hope igniting in his chest. Although Corra opened her mouth to protest, she decided against it.Amidst the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves, Jax felt a jolt of energy coursing through the air. Something—or someone—watched them from the depths of the dense greenery. Curiosity overwhelmed him, urging him to uncover the source o
Task fulfilled
…Jax’s eyes slowly opened and the first thing that he met was the dense smell of blood. When his vision cleared, he caught a glimpse of Corra and Bart tied to a wooden pole, ruffled hair, torn clothes, and nothing near pleasant.Jax was petrified. “Is this some... witchy sacrifice?”His head spiraled with more confusion, it felt like his energy was drained.Noa, on the other hand, remained unconscious. It remains to him a mystery as to how and when they were captured and brought here. Jax tried to roll over, but his efforts were useless. “Corra?”He only called out through his mind not to attract the attention of the only capturer. “Corra? Look at me!” again, he spoke but she didn't move nor flinch. She seemed unconscious since her head was hanging—her messy hair was over her face.Bart was just as hopeless as Corra. It seemed to him that he was the only one awake. “Spirits! I didn't bargain for any of these things! What's this about?”Jax lamented and had no r
Panel
"Silence is not my thing, Zetas, Who. Did. This?" the woman asked. This time she crossed her arms behind, wearing a more terrible face that could scare just about anyone.Jax and his partners stared at each other with mixed expressions, giving out Jax would only mean that he was going to bare the cross—all by himself. Corra tried to speak with him through her mind, but the plunging look of the woman wouldn't let her. "No answers, still?" the woman asked, as if mocking the young teenagers. "Okay then." she walked over to the witch's head, which was a short distance away from Jax and his friends.Jax was frightened, he suspected that he was done for.But the woman crouched down and inspected it. Her eyes shifted to no one but Jax. "Hmm!" she let out. She stood erect and signaled one of the soldiers she had arrived with. He understood what she meant without voicing it out. "And… seize the teenagers—they'll answer to the panel by morning—" "I did… I did the ki- killi

****Like in court, every student awaited their judgment, what their fate will become.Like previous times, General Steel, as her name implied, shot sharp gazes at them, leaving them with tons of questions without answers in their heads. “Before anything is mentioned, congratulations to the very few Zetas.” her sarcasm stretched with a smile that only piqued their curiosity and implanted fear. “In your study rooms, you'll be given a missive and that will determine your fate. Therefore, I do hope that I meet only a few of you.”General Steel and Sergeant Caprio spoke among themselves and arrived at an unknown conclusion.Meanwhile, Jax watched them closely, like a spy on them. He didn't know what else to think, since he couldn't overhear them. It was the they did it, skillfully concealing their discussions. “It's just so hard to hear these guys!” he said to himself. Why? He wondered. How did they do it—skillfully hiding their conversation? Was it a secret power? He kept asking
Bully charade
Jax returned to the class area. The threats from General Steel were still fresh in his mind. What did she have against him? He kept wondering. “How did it go?” Corra asked eagerly as she spotted Jax emerging from the stairway.“You really don’t want to know, but it’s all sorted now—”“That sounds like good news, right?…” Bart interjected, raising his eyebrows in curiosity.“I am officially a student of NorthHedge Academy!” Jax announced, a grin spreading across his face. He couldn't help but notice the collective sigh of relief from his friends. “Thank the spirits! I told you nobody would be left behind, see?” Corra nudged Jax playfully, and for reasons he couldn’t quite grasp, his felt lighter.“Okay, that's settled then,” Bart said, clapping his hands together. “We were waiting for you so we could all join the class together!” he added. “Yeah!” Corra and Noa chimed in unison, their excitement palpable.“Alright!” Jax replied with a smile as they turned to head down the passageway
Take him
…Suddenly, Jax stabilized himself as the bully summoned courage to speak again. The boy veered around sarcastically, staring at Jax but pretending not to have seen him. “Who… spoke?”His eyes wandered from eye to eye as if scrutinizing the crowd, knowing fully who had spoken. “Stop playing around, that's not how it works.” Jax snapped and approached until he was standing before the boy.The boy was taller than Jax, but it didn't move him.Meanwhile, Corra grappled with the boys holding her. Bart and Noa pushed the boys away from her. “That was… violation, little gum boyfriend!” the tall boy mocked Jax when he noticed that Corra had been set free. “I don't want to argue with you, but don't bother her when she's not bothering you,” Jax warned sternly. The boy chuckled mockingly and scoffed, “Says the one who's nothing but a wimp with no balls? Okay then, boyfriend.”The boy mocked, and the crowd cracked up.Jax was pissed to the brink. He had a terrible temperament,
Are you from Kistan?
Corra and Bart found themselves in a rather miserable predicament—detained for cleaning the enormous stables of the flying cyclops. It was an exhausting and nauseating task, a whole world worse than caring for regular horses. Every muscle in their backs throbbed, and the smell? Unbearable. Yet, quitting wasn’t an option; they were bound to complete the job until ordered otherwise.“He betrayed us,” Bart muttered, frustration lacing his words. “I had a feeling in my gut that he would turn out to be trouble. And Jax just blindly trusted him,” he continued, his anger bubbling over. Corra wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead and huffed. “Jax didn’t trust him; he was just—”“Seriously, Corra,” Bart interrupted, annoyed. “I’m furious at you and Jax for taking such reckless chances! I’ve said this a million times…” His voice trailed off when he noticed her silence.Deep down, they both knew he had a point. They had acknowledged the dangers too quickly, and now they felt the weight of
