Chapter 29
[You have entered the hidden room.]The moment Kael entered the room, he dropped into his Joker Form and raised his bow, placing the arrow against the arrow rest he had carved into the wooden weapon. The modification had been inspired by the modern bows at his master’s Archery club. It was also one of the requirements of the quest Garrick had given him, which meant Kael was now only one tree away from earning the Steel Knife. That reward would be a major step forward for his crafting. The arrow rest itself was useful beyond the quest. It gave his shots better stability and improved his precision, making it a simple but valuable addition to his bow.“It’s dark…” Kael murmured as he examined his surroundings. “And I haven’t seen anyone yet.”Darkness filled the entire room. Kael could barely make out his own hands, and even his bow seemed to vanish in front of him. That was not necessarily a problem. If he couldn’t see the bow, his opponent probably couldn’t see his arrows either. The o

“Concealing yourself is pointless, traitor!” Averic screeched in his strange mixture of human speech and eagle cries. He spread his wings and dived into the ocean of darkness beneath him.His body disappeared completely.Kael remained behind the pillar and carefully observed the darkness. It was not difficult to keep track of Averic because of his white beak. Against the blackness, it stood out almost like a beacon meant to guide someone through the night.‘He didn’t only cover the room in darkness but also expanded it to have more room to maneuver! He can sink into the darkness and probably come out from any spot!’Kael considered his three Archery Forms. The answer became obvious. The Master Form.Against an opponent that could attack from almost any direction, the Master Form offered the best flexibility. Its low position allowed Kael to turn his upper body and fire from different angles without completely changing his footing.Kael dropped onto one knee and raised his bow.The arr
Chapter 31
“You died,” Garrick said with a smile when Kael logged back into the game. The young man had appeared near the wooden cabin, which meant only one thing. He had died inside the hidden room at the hands of the Legendary Boss.It wasn’t surprising.Averic was an existence that players rarely encountered, and the eagle had probably fought very few newbies. His hidden room could only be discovered through certain conditions, making the chances of an ordinary player stumbling across him extremely low.If not for Garrick’s advice and Kael’s rather ridiculous plan to cut a path toward the Unconquerable Mountain, he might never have found the room at all.Of course, Kael also possessed the Legendary Summons Quest, which required him to search for traces of other legendary existences. The quest had not revealed how many traces existed, so Kael still believed he would have eventually found Averic through the quest. That no longer mattered. He had already found him.“Yeah,” Kael replied with a bi
Chapter 32
“Don’t cry, Fenrath. You did well. Really well,” Kael whispered as he gently stroked the puppy’s head.Fenrath continued crying in his master’s arms. His soft sobs hurt Kael more than he expected. It wasn’t difficult to understand why Fenrath was so upset. Until now, Kael had never summoned him for a battle that truly mattered. The enemies they had faced were ordinary wolves, creatures Kael could defeat on his own without much trouble. Fenrath had helped him several times, but he had never experienced the satisfaction of standing beside his master during a difficult fight.Kael had wanted that to change. He had originally planned to summon Fenrath during one of his battles against the Wolf Boss. In fact, his fourth approach to defeating the boss had been built around fighting alongside his pet.Unfortunately, that plan had never happened. After Garrick’s lecture, Kael had abandoned the Wolf Boss for the time being.Instead, Kael and Fenrath had spent their time together in a much more
Chapter 33
Kael had already cleared the entire wolf territory, and from the edge of their land, he could see the ocean stretching beyond the forest. With the wolves no longer a serious threat, he could finally focus on his other plans. He knew roughly where the common wolves spawned, so dealing with them before they became a nuisance was easy. Whenever one appeared in his path, Kael simply killed it and continued with whatever he was doing.Because of that, his minimap now revealed far more of the Tutorial Island than most players had probably seen.Kael took his exploration seriously. He didn’t want to leave anything valuable undiscovered on an island he would soon be unable to return to.Now that the wolves were no longer a concern, it was time to explore the rest of the tutorial.Kael eventually reached another section of the forest where enormous roots rose from the ground and tangled together. They were so thick and tall that they looked like the walls of a prison. He stopped to examine the
Chapter 34
Behind Kael stood a dense wall of roots, with only one narrow opening leading back into the wolf territory.Exposing that route would be foolish. If Kael turned around and ran, the monkeys would have an easy path to follow him. He had no intention of giving them that advantage. And in front of him stood an entire army of monkeys, many of them already gripping stones in their little hands. It was only a matter of time before the projectiles started flying.[Perrin Lv. 7 HP: 237/280 MP: 280/280]‘We killed a few monkeys, and I still haven’t lost that much health,’ Kael thought. ‘I’ll use this chance to practice my perception skill. If I die, I die.’Kael settled into Master Form and took a deep breath. He was still only a common Perrin. Expecting himself to defeat an entire army of monsters in a short time was unrealistic.Master Form, however, gave him something he needed. His torso could turn almost ninety degrees to either side and even farther behind him, allowing him to respond to
Chapter 35
Kael immediately turned toward the other flank once the left side had been cleared, sending arrows toward the monkeys’ heads. Death’s Lock continued to assist his shots, guiding each arrow toward his chosen target and making every successful hit feel incredibly satisfying. There was something about killing monsters around his level with a single arrow that made Kael feel the identity of an Archer sink deeper into him. He could feel that sensation in his bones, blood, and flesh, and it had lasted long enough that becoming drunk on the feeling wouldn’t have surprised him. Perhaps that was why his luck finally ran out. After several successful kills, Death’s Lock failed to produce the same result and one of his arrows only dealt two hundred damage to a monkey. Kael didn’t panic. He immediately nocked another arrow and finished the fortunate creature before activating Death’s Lock again. Since the skill had no cooldown, he used it three more times and killed three monkeys in succession
Chapter 36
Kael and Fenrath had spent the past week leveling up in the monkey zone. It might have sounded like a long time for Kael to remain in the same area, but his life had changed after starting college. He had adjusted his schedule around his classes, which meant he could no longer spend nearly as much time inside Legendfall as he had during his vacation. Even with the reduced playtime, however, Kael had grown significantly as an Archer. His pet had also developed into a dangerous little hunter. For Fenrath, this had been the happiest week of his existence on the Tutorial Island. He had spent almost every hour Kael summoned him fighting monkeys and using his newest skill as much as possible. He became so proficient with The Howl Of The Wolf Boss that he could now aim it with incredible precision, almost like a sniper. He could even target a monkey’s tail and knock it off a branch without killing the creature. Fenrath also joined Kael in his battles against the monkey armies, and their pro
Chapter 37
Kael climbed to the top of a tall tree and looked across the clearing. At its center, the Monkey King, Zhenku, slept with his back against the trunk. He was an enormous monkey with a thick tail and a round belly that looked as though he had eaten every fruit the forest had to offer. Those fruits had been piled around him by the other monkeys, who had apparently worked hard to please their king before quickly leaving the area. None of them dared to stay near Zhenku for long. Kael studied the scene before whispering, “And I thought one piece was the friends you’ve made on your journey, Zhenku…” If not for the way the boss’s round belly rose and fell with each breath, Kael might have had trouble spotting him. Zhenku’s dark fur blended naturally into the forest, making him difficult to distinguish from his surroundings. Fortunately, the uneven patches of darkness throughout the area gave Kael enough visibility to begin his attack.Kael straightened into Soldier Form and drew the bowstr
Chapter 38
Zhenku halted with a deep growl before suddenly launching into his second phase. He charged forward with Fenrath still clinging tightly to his tail, and the sight was almost ridiculous. The massive monkey moved as if he had only just learned how to jog, his enormous belly and layers of fat bouncing awkwardly with every step. Fenrath was dragged along behind him like a flag caught in a strong wind, but the little wolf had no intention of letting go. Unfortunately, Zhenku abruptly threw himself into a roll, forcing Fenrath to open his jaws and release the tail before he was crushed against the ground.“Let him go, Fenrath!” Kael shouted. The monkey boss continued rolling without slowing down. If Fenrath had kept hanging on, every rotation would have slammed his body against the ground and probably injured him far more than the bite was worth. Kael had seen that possibility immediately, which was why he had ordered Fenrath to release him. The wolf clearly did not like giving up and look
