The desperate attempt
Before it was too late, Juno had already managed to stabilize the general’s dying body, saving it in the process. Then, she immediately ran to her master’s side.-Dhum.The spectral body of the demon that had split in half fell to the ground as the knights, mages, and priests that were still alive, wounded or injured, all ran towards their lord on the other side. The demon heretic was still in denial of what had just transpired. It could not tell where the attack came from even now, but it had done all the damage that it needed. The demon was finished… now, its body was scattering into dark ashes, vanishing into thin air like some kind of fog. The demon was dangerous, it was powerful, it could have hunt hundreds to gain greater powers if it succeeded in invading the surface, but all the plans it had, all those wishes were scattered alongside its spirit body. { “Ke-kekeke…” }It was dying, and yet, the demon laughed in that ugly tone, mocking the mortals that had surrounded the dy
Why trust her?!
-Step. Step. Step. She walked with the same grace that they had known all this time. There was no one like her here. Spotless, dignified even in the face of such chaos, calm, even with something so dangerous going on. The hood around her head seemed darker for some reason. Her eyes were deeper as well, though only a few of them were able to see them. There was no one present here that did not know who she was. They did not know why she was only appearing right now or where she had been all this time. They all knew their lord trusted this person greatly as well. They had seen the unique powers that she possessed during their journey in this underground, but there was nothing that made them trust her with the life of their Lord. She was not there when the most important battle was going on. She was not there to save their Lord. He trusted her, but she was not there when they needed her help. They did not know where she was, and they wanted to stop her as well. Some of them even
The strings of energy
Only she could help him in this state, so she first lifted the body off the ground.-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiish… With the same power that Rey had always mistaken as Telekanisis, she lifted the body of the Lord off the ground and covered themselves in a powerful barrier.Rey had seen her use different kinds of barriers so the new formless barrier did not surprise him. What sprirised… shocked him, however, was what transpired right after the summoning of the barrier. -Oooooooooooooooong! Her blue eyes that always glowed from beyond the hood glowed with a new, lighter color. This color of light was new to everyone present, but the Lord had seen this. He would have recognised it if he was in his right state of mind, so it was only the other spectators who got to see what was going to happen with him.[ “Master…” ]As they watched, the different energies that were present inside of the Lord's body materialised. It took the form of strings similar to the red strings that the demon had made t
A student’s question
“Miss Lin… what… what was that? What did you do? Those strings? Just, what was going on?” He could not contain his curiosity so the first thing he did when Lord Yavian started packing up for their departure, was to ask her this question. The chaos of before, the deaths that had occurred during the fight, the news that Miss Lin had successfully dealt with the source of the demonic invasion and that there would be no new arrivals of the demonic beasts, and after everything else was dealt with, they moved independently. Some joined in the cleanup of the aftermath of the battle. Some went out to hunt the remaining demonic beasts. The Lord had just received enlightenment so he was meditating, trying to make everything that he had received in that short time his own, and some were tending to those still injured. Ana was there, once again, down as she had been ever since they came down here, and Juno was scouting the area, leaving the hooded master and the curious false heretic on their
The announcements on the surface
It had been a while since he was connected to the game so as soon as the party climbed back to the surface, he had to exit the game for the time being. His role as the false heretic was fulfilled at this point. He had done what he needed to so he was done with his work as well.In his absence, the Lord who had reached a new stage returned to the city with fewer people than the ones he had brought him with below the surface. The Lord, regretting the deaths of his people, mourned the deaths first, and then personally visited the families and friends of the deceased, sharing the news of their valiant sacrifice. They were true heroes of Jiyan and the Lord promised to never forget their names. At the same time, an announcement was made throughout the city of a demon attack that had happened in a non-disclosed location near the city. It was announced that the Lord personally went to battle against these demons, and in the process, it was revealed that many of the top powers of the city ha
Restless return
Rey could not rest at home and prepared to quickly log back into the game after taking a short nap. His mum was concerned at first, but after hearing what had happened in that world this time, she understood the seriousness of the situation. She didn’t stop him from going back into the game even when he was restless the whole time. She simply asked him to be careful of his emotions.Sometimes, it was better to stay calm and collected instead of being swept away by the emotions. In this certain situation, especially, he needed to be more careful. It wasn’t just about some artificial lifeforms inside a game that had died. It wasn’t just about a game that he was playing. That was a world of its own and there were things there that mattered to both that world and this.Rey had almost finished a Main quest, something that would affect the world one way or another. He fought against a powerful evil being and not only was he able to save the most important person with the help of his ‘te
Nightly talks
I was back inside the game, back inside the house from where I had logged off.It was still difficult to believe this pretty place was my new house but then again, it was still incomplete. The windows were still not pretty enough, there were no fun curtains, and the doors also looked pretty simple without any carvings or paintings. We needed everything new. New doors, new curtains, new window glass… if we can, we should also have someone make the interior of the rooms as well. We needed so many things anyways, but there was just no time. There was so much that we needed to add here… and by we, I do mean we. “I’m back… Ana.”Ever since we went down that dark hell, she had been pretty quiet. She had been afraid, I could tell, and along with that fear, there was a sense of being trapped in there. She had been through quite a lot even though she didn’t say much, but then again, I knew. { “Hey there… Rey.” }She was still blankly looking at the night sky, sitting on the window, all b
The morning of mourning
-Chirp~. Chirp! Chirp! The morning arrived with the boy and his pixie friend spending their night with the window open. They were woken up by the first rays of sun as well as the pretty sound of the birds that seemed just as cheerful as they are every single day. The birds in the city of winds were pretty common. You could see all kinds of colourful birds here that you don’t usually see. They weren’t monsters either, simple creatures with unique traits. Some coils sense Mana while some could use it as well. However, these fantasy creatures were simple and safe. They did not hurt the citizens and the citizens coexisted with these neighbourhood birds. The pets that the people of the city had most certainly were in a constant chase with each other, but that was the story of every world, not just this one. The birds that woke up the city were innocent creatures… to most, at least. -Thud. Thud. On this fine day, under the effect of a heavy pressure that wasn’t even directed at them,
The double formations
“The Lord has asked us to bring you to him as soon as you finish resting. We have time, you can finish your breakfast.”The mage bowed to them as soon as he saw them outside of their house.-Thump! Thump! The knights also got into straight positions. They were respectful towards this certain person. They knew what could have been if he weren’t there. They were there right now all thanks to him as well so, they were looking up to him.“Ah…”But their respect was something Rey was still not used to. It was almost burdensome to him, but he did not show it. It was a little awkward but he greeted them as he had done in the underground, showing them more respect than what they had showed with this greeting.“We can have our breakfast on the way. You can lead the way now, Sir.” Rey and Ana have talked about it already. They had some snacks on them so they were gonna have them for now. They weren’t too hungry right now anyways. They wanted to have something better, something Rey made himse
Completion of the monument
What stood before us wasn’t just a silver piller… it was a monument of the finest craftsmanship. The metal was an alloy that seemed like silver. Just looking at it would make one sure that it was silver. It wasn’t round or made in one certain shape. It was a finely crafted pillar with different sections that, from the looks of it, could move independently. They were made in a way that would make them turn and spin in certain directions with the winds. At the top of the pillar, the small triangular structure that was made seemed to resemble a small wind blade, however, this wasn’t a simple windmill. The intricate carvings that made this pillar, the unfinished lower parts, the spells and enchantments that were fused within the different sections, and the way this thing was being made as not only a monument, but a functional part of the city was fascinating to me.‘After watching his magic all that time in the underworld, I have become sensitive to the magical structures and the spel
