The Path Selection
-Zaaaaaaaa…Rey felt the shift in atmosphere the moment his boot touched the final, polished marble step leading into the Temple of Paths. It wasn't merely cooler than the rest, it was infused with an energy that felt simultaneously ancient and perfectly ordered like standing inside a colossal, humming clockwork mechanism. If you had been inside a very old lighthouse, you’d know what I am talking about. The vast, vaulted entrance hall was less a place of worship and more a hall of destiny. Sunlight filtered through colourful glass which contained depictions of legendary heroes, casting shifting patterns of light and color across the floor, illuminating the steady flow of hopeful adventurers.A middle-aged man in simple white robes approached Rey and Ana in a practically empty temple. He had an aura of a strange yet calm authority, his eyes were a deep pool of warmth, an understanding earthglow as they met Rey’s blue oceans with professional interest."Greetings, traveler. I am Bro
The path to choose
‘The path of the sword would be the most ideal for my physical body type.’Swordsman was the classic reliable path, offering immediate offensive power and a clear progression to the highest echelons of physical combat. The Pros obviously included: Immediate fighting capability, a reliable ceiling, and potential access to (Aura) in the future, the most destructive energy resource of the known energies. The Cons on the other hand show that the class was a little too common. It was never fully optimized by other players, and would also neglect his potential elemental/Mana affinity. Safety wouldn’t yield unprecedented wealth. So the final decision was obvious.‘A pass.’Following the most common physical class came the most common magical class.‘The mages are the masters or magic.’Mage class promised unparalleled area damage and utility. It was highly synergistic with the elemental flower elixirs in his inventory that would immediately boost his Mana, further enhancing his affinitie
Starting on a new path
The scroll devolved into iridescent particles of light that were moved throughout the room as it collected the golden light that was already present inside the room. The room was covered in these particles which slowly became one and gathered before Rey.{ “Woooooow!” }As Ana watched alongside the priest, the colourful energy particles which had now turned into a bead became one with Rey, dissolving into his body like a water droplet becoming one with the lake water. [Ding!][You have chosen the path of the Elementalist.][Your class has changed to Apprentice Elementalist (Proficiency: 1/100).][As the effect of the class bonus your (Energy) functional stat will change into (Mana).][As an effect of the class bonus, your stats have been enhanced.]======Mana: (+20)Energy: (+10)Fatigue: (+10)======[As an effect of the class allotment, you have gained the Skill: Elemental Control.][As an effect of the class allotment, you have gained the Skill: Spirit Summoning.][Ding!]======
There’s still a way!
“Ana… I’m so dumb.”{ “Nooooo! How many times do I have to say it! You’re not dumb! Rey is not dumb!!” }Even though she was saying that, I could not bring myself to believe that.I mean, just think about it. ‘We are in the east, there is just so much that would make you an eastern individual on its own, look at the food, look at the culture here.’You’d wanna swing swords and learn about different martial arts. You’d want to learn more about the elixirs, the cultivation techniques, you’d want to learn more about the things that you see around yourself, right?‘And I still chose this class…’Elementalists are heavily dependent on the summoned spirits. To summon the spirits, you need to have a powerful summon medium or a strong enough proficiency with the elements that the need for a catalyst is removed. For that kind of proficiency, you would have to be above level-100 at the very least. And I’m not even thinking about all the effort that would go into increasing the proficiency of
At the dusk, it spoke
The moment Rey and Ana had been thrown out by the power of that mysterious force, the inside of the antique shop changed completely.-Ooooooooooooooooong!The entire shop that looked like a simple place to the common eyes, was bathed in a dark, sticky substance. It was strange, bubbling, muddy yet so fluid that it covered the entire shop, not leaving a single spot empty. The entire place that stood as the representative of the old history, was now a dark pool of a sticky substance that, to those who possessed holy power, would feel like the most repulsive thing in the world.{ “Khekhekhe.” }It was the power of a demon. The demonic power of destruction that only had one purpose: destruction and chaos. In normal circumstances, the amount of demonic power that was covering this shop would have destroyed the entire city of Jiyan in a matter of moments. As everyone already knew, the demonic power was the most corrupt thing in this world. It corrupted humans and humanoids and turned them
Could she be a mage?
“She said midnight, didn’t she?” { “I don’t think she’ll open the door, Rey. There’s clearly something wrong with this glass window.” }“I guess there’s a barrier of some kind around this place. Well, that much would be expected from someone who can appraise an elixir.”{ “A barrier? Like the one around the Great Plains?” }“Eh… I don’t know. That one is a little too powerful, no? Anyway, even if this is a weaker barrier, there’s no way we are getting inside by force.”The sound was blocked, and we couldn't even peek inside. Unless someone opens this locked door from the inside, I doubt we will be able to get back inside.{ “Rey… I’m hungry…” }It was already midnight right now and everything was already dark around here. If it weren’t for the single lamp of the antique shop that illuminated this dark end of the alley, we would have been sitting in a pitch black darkness. I could literally not see a single thing in front of me. If a monster was watching me from right in front of me
A message relayed
She watched him walk away with his pixie fried in the darkness. He was surely brave to walk into that dark alleyway without any light. Most people would tremble at the thought of facing such darkness, at the thought of missteps, at the simple thought of losing their way. But, he seemed to rely on his newly discovered Mana senses, treating this situation as training rather than a simple walk in the dark. This wasn’t an attitude you see everywhere. “What do you think?” Standing right outside her antique shop, she spoke to herself with a smile on her face, watching the two cross the alley with her eyes that could see the essence of things. The hood covering her face was still dark, but under the light of the lamp above her, her deep eyes still shined with the same brilliance. There was, however, a deep exhaustion hidden within them. After waking up from the unexpected slumber, she was planning to go to bed for real. But then she sensed two little kids sitting outside her place,
The night spent in luxury
I had experienced it for a while and I can confidently say this inn room was an overwhelming sensory experience for someone like us, a stark contrast to the modest life we have been accustomed to. It was filled with objects and features I had only ever encountered through the distant lens of luxury experience videos or posh television commercials. While it was my choice to be here, everything in this room felt alien to me for the first few hours that I actually spent here before logging off. The atmosphere within the room was perfectly controlled despite there being so many open windows as it was maintained at a specific, or as they called it, the ‘ideal’ temperature. This precise atmosphere could be adjusted effortlessly using a sleek device positioned perfectly in one corner of the room by the door to the 2nd bathroom. The bathrooms were an equally bizarre place to me, particularly the shower, which had a multitude of modes. There were settings for different kinds of 'sprinkle
Pixies of the City
Pixies, the Fay species and descendants of fairies, the masters of magic. They are cheerful creatures, beings that are small and playful. They are natural enchanters, born with the knowledge and skills of enchantments. Not only can they enchant things much more easily, they can learn about different kinds of enchantments much faster than the rest of the species. Many Pixies can learn a new enchantment formation by simply seeing it once. There are times when a pixie can enchant items with enchantments of elements that they aren’t too close with. They were creatures sensitive to Mana and many of them were skilled enough to be great magic users. There was no need for them to use conventional means when making enchantments. Enchantments were the same as using certain body functions for them. They also lived for as long as six centuries and beyond, making their natural lifespans far greater than the common species. The Fairies were the residents of their own world, rarely ever seen in th
Just sit there and listen
-Chirp~! Chirp~!Morning sun had kissed the distant eastern land hidden in a valley. The city of winds was greeted with the fresh breeze of another fine morning.Hanging gardens growing outside the countless towers of the city were rejuvenated by the fine warmth of the morning sun.The city that did not sleep was still glowing with people walking down the streets, starting their days, going to work, starting their days.Shops that had been closed after the evening were opening while the shops that had stayed open all night were finally closing down. The adventurers who had spent all night drinking away at taverns were returning to their abode, some supported by their drunk friends, while some were being carried on the backs of their partners. The night yesterday was wonderful. With the city’s preparations for the festival nearing their end, the nights had just become even more vibrant than usual.People who had come from all around the kingdom were enjoying the festive atmosphere. The
