THE NEW PHASE OF RED
Within a week, Andrew Chappatti owned Boston. Not literally. But close enough. His name was everywhere. Bars, back alleys, police stations, even the mayor's office. People didn't just respect him. They feared him. The kind of fear that makes grown men lower their eyes and cross the street.Lesner had paid his first weekly due. On time. No excuses. He was still moving drugs, still running his empire, but now every dollar came with a cut to the Chappatti Cartel. A reminder of who really held the leash. But the cartel gave Andrew more than muscle. It gave him reach. Government connections. Military ties. Business favors. He didn't just run a crime syndicate—he ran the city. Like a mayor. Like a king. And right now, that king was lying on a beach with his queen.---Maldives.Andrew had booked an entire private island. Just him and Emilia. No guards. No soldiers. No even Klaus breathing down his neck. The water was so blue it looked fake. White sand squeaked under their feet. A three‑bedr
SUSPICIOUS.
Andrew didn't suspect a thing. He grabbed a few soldiers and walked out to the waiting area. Lesner was already there, standing with some of his men. Dressed casual—white t‑shirt, black trousers, sneakers. Looked almost peaceful. Nothing like the monster from the wedding. Andrew stopped a few feet away. "What are you doing in my house?" Lesner smiled. Friendly. Too friendly. "Came to visit you. Brought a gift. Also, my weekly f*e. It's another week, after all." Andrew frowned. He didn't like this. Not one bit. "You don't have to come to my house to pay. There's a system. Direct to the cartel accountant. You know that." Lesner nodded. Still smiling. Andrew pressed. "And how did you know I was back? I didn't tell anyone I was arriving today." Lesner's smile flickered. Just for a second. Then he recovered. "I was on my way to the airport. Picking someone up. Saw your convoy. The whole Chappatti army. Hard to miss." He chuckled. "You're not exactly subtle." Andrew stared at him
CHAPTER 13
The next morning, Klaus was already on the road before sunrise.West side of Boston. A part of the city Andrew had never cared about. Not as big as downtown, not as glamorous. But busy. Always busy. Markets opening early. People flooding the streets. The kind of place where money changed hands fast and nobody asked questions.Klaus parked his black SUV three blocks away. Killed the engine. Sat there for a moment, scanning the area through his tinted windows. He was dressed all in black. Black jacket. Black shirt. Black shades. He looked like a ghost. Like someone who had seen too much and cared too little. He pulled out his phone and started taking pictures of all street corners and entry points. The flow of foot traffic. Then he saw it.On almost every block, young boys worked the corners. Sixteen, seventeen, eighteen years old. Hoodies pulled low. Eyes scanning for cops. They moved in small groups, hands in pockets, exchanging small packages for cash. Packages that were obviously d
CHAPTER 14
The scene opens inside a dark room, thick with cigar smoke.Lesner ended a phone call, nodded a couple of times, then said, "Okay, boss."He turned around, a smile spreading across his face. Behind him, seven old men sat in leather chairs, cigarettes and cigars burning between their fingers, smoke curling toward the ceiling."Four o'clock today," Lesner said, "at Elysons Crave. Sounds like he's buying it."The oldest of the seven let out a slow stream of smoke. "You seem relieved," the old man said. "I remember you running here like a lost puppy when Andrew kicked your ass at the wedding. His little wife watching, his men surrounding you. That was what... two weeks ago?"Lesner's jaw tightened, but he didn't argue."The plan," another old man said. "What is it?"Lesner sat down across from them. "I meet Andrew, we talk strategy, I play along with whatever he wants. Make him think I'm loyal.""He already thinks you're loyal," the third old man said. "That's your advantage."Lesner nodd
CHAPTER 15:
Andrew got back to the mansion and made the call right away after some hours of giving his decisions a thought. "Klaus, I need someone at that warehouse tonight. Not tomorrow, not later. Tonight. I want eyes on it before the sun comes up." Klaus didn't ask questions. He just said, "Done." By midnight, a dark car rolled through the abandoned industrial zone on the east side. Inside were two of the Chappatti Cartel's best scouts. They knew how to spot cameras from far away and smell a trap before it snapped. They drove slow, windows down, acting like they were lost. The warehouse sat ahead. Big concrete building, chain-link fence all around, razor wire on top. Floodlights lit up the whole place. Every few minutes, a guard walked by with a rifle. The scouts circled the block twice. They took pictures, counted guards, spotted the cameras. Then they drove back to Andrew. By 3 AM, they stood in Andrew's study. "It's real, boss," one said. "Just like Lesner said. Fenced, cameras
CHAPTER 16
A few hours after the divers finished their job, Lesner called. Andrew was still in his study, the lights dim, Emilia long gone to bed. The phone buzzed and he picked it up on the first ring. "Andrew, that was brilliant," Lesner said, his voice dripping with fake appreciation. "The fathers are furious, I mean really furious. They've sent messages all across the city, putting out feelers, trying to find out who hit their shipment. They're looking everywhere for the people responsible." Andrew didn't say anything, just let Lesner keep talking. "I heard you attacked the ship instead of the warehouse," Lesner continued. "You didn't tell me that was the plan. I was expecting something at the warehouse, but going after the shipment at sea? That was bold." "We don't tell everyone our plans," Andrew said flatly. Lesner laughed, but it sounded forced. "Fair enough, fair enough. So what's next? What's the next move? How are you going to take out the supplier? I need to know so I can
CHAPTER 17:
Klaus called Lesner right after Andrew gave the order."Lesner, we have something big," Klaus said, keeping his voice calm. "We planted a chip on the ship, tracked it all the way to its hiding spot. Turns out the supplier is hiding deep inside a thick forest, middle of nowhere. We're moving in on him tonight."There was a pause on the other end. Then Klaus spoke. "Andrew is coming too""What ? Andrew is also coming to ? like, to the forest your tracker is showing you?" Lesner asked in surprise.Klaus smiled to himself. He could hear the excitement in Lesner's voice, barely hidden. "Yeah, he wants to see it for himself.""That's... that's good," Lesner said. "Real good."Klaus ended the call and quickly, got into his csr, started his engine and rode off to the chapattis mansion.******Lesner didn't waste a second. He grabbed his keys, got into his car, and drove straight to the Fathers' hideout. The seven old men were in their usual spots, smoke filling the room, their eyes half close
CHAPTER 18: ESCAPE STRATEGY
The forest was still smoking when Lesner and the Fathers climbed into their cars and drove away. In front of them was a convoy of armed men clearing the path, while behind them was another convoy providing covering. Their car was at the middle. No one spoke. The tires crunched over broken branches, and the headlights cut through the dark trees like knives. Lesner sat in the back seat of the black sprinter bus, his hands still shaking, his mind still replaying the moment he pulled the mask off that decoy's face. He was scared. Dead scared. He felt like Andrew could pop out of anywhere from the forest and kill him. A reason why he was surrounded by a convoy. They drove straight to the Fathers' hideout, the same smoke-filled room where they always met. The seven old men took their usual seats, but none of them lit their cigarettes right away. The room felt different now. Colder.Lesner couldn't sit. He paced back and forth, his boots clicking on the floor."He knows," Lesner said. "He k
CHAPTER 19
The cyber room was quiet except for the soft clicking of keyboards and the hum of the computers.Rashiv sat in front of the main screen, his fingers moving fast, his eyes locked on the map. A single red dot blinked on the screen, moving slowly across the city."We have our eyes on Lesner," Rashiv said, turning to Andrew and Klaus. "His location is near the airport highway. I think he's heading to the airport."Andrew leaned against the wall, arms crossed, a small smile on his face. "Good."Klaus stepped closer to the screen. "So he's trying to leave the country. Should I make a move on him now? Before he gets to the airport? We can intercept him, take him out quick."Andrew shook his head. "No. Too messy. And less fun."Klaus raised an eyebrow. "Less fun?""I want him to run. Let him go wherever he wants—another city, another country, doesn't matter. I want him to think he's safe. Then I want to prove that I can reach him anywhere, anytime." Andrew's smile faded. "That's the point. He
CHAPTER 20
Lesner's flight took off just before midnight. He sat in first class, a glass of whiskey in his hand, staring out the window at the lights of Boston shrinking below him. The city that had made him, the city he had ruled for years, was now a place he had to run from. A place where a handyman had become a king and turned Lesner into a hunted animal. He took a long sip and closed his eyes.Dubai. That was his destination. Somewhere far away, somewhere safe. He would let the heat cool down, let his allies figure out how to kill Andrew, and then he would come back and rebuild. That was the plan. But even as he thought it, doubt crept into his mind. A hundred million dollars was a lot of money, but money couldn't buy what Andrew had. Andrew had an army, he had spies, he had hackers who could track a man across the world. And worst of all, Andrew had patience.Lesner finished his whiskey and ordered another. He needed to believe that killing Andrew was still possible. Otherwise, what was he
