CHAPTER 30- THE BLOOD HE NEEDED AND THE DEVOTION THAT STOOD
AIDEN’S POVMy men and I landed several metres away from the house, shifting back into our human forms.“We head for the house,” Zarin said.I walked beside him as my men followed, their footsteps crashing through the undergrowth. Then I saw it.Wings.Massive. Black. Cutting through the moonlight as he leapt from the balcony.Rage exploded inside me.“After him!” I roared. He was already shifting, already escaping. I did not hesitate. Bones cracked. Fire surged. The world bent as I shifted from my human form and rose into the sky.The night split open with my roar. There he was. Dravon. And there she was clinging to his back.My vision narrowed.I launched forward, wings beating hard, claws slicing through the cold air as I gave chase. Arrows flew from below, shooting past him, some striking his scales with sparks of metal. He roared in pain but did not slow.Coward.I pushed harder, climbing higher, my wings burning, my chest still weak from blood loss. The night grew thinner as we
CHAPTER 31 - HELD BETWEEN WOUNDS AND LOVE
AIDEN’S POV I flew through the night without once looking back. The wind tore past my scales, cold, but it did nothing to cool the fire raging inside me. By the time the palace came into view, my thoughts were a blur of fury and failure. We landed hard within the inner grounds, my men shifting back into human form behind me. I did not wait for them. I stormed into the palace. Each step echoed through the halls . Guards and maids bowed as I passed, their greetings hurried and fearful. Some flinched. Good. Let them see what failure brings. My anger crawled beneath my skin and coiling tighter with every breath. When I reached my chambers, I shoved the door open and stepped inside. The silence broke me. I grabbed the nearest object throwing it at the mirror. The glass exploded at the impact, shards raining across the floor like ice. My chest heaved as I stared at my reflection scattering into a thousand pieces. I had lost them. The only chance I had, the final move. If Zarin had a

CHAPTER 32 - ASHES AND OMEN
NATHAN’S POVI sat beside my brother’s bed, my hands clasped tightly together as I watched his chest rise and fall. His face was calm, almost too calm, but I knew better. He drifted in and out of consciousness, slipping away from me little by little. The doctors had told me not to worry. They said he would be fine. But I could not stop worrying. Dallas was the only family I had left. Our parents died when we were still children. My mother died while giving birth to me. Nine years later, my father followed her after a fierce fever burned through his body. I still remembered his last words, spoken with a weak voice and trembling hands.“Take care of your brother. No matter the situation.”Then he was gone. From that day on, it was just the two of us. Dallas became everything. Brother. Father. Protector. He ran the farms and the poultry, worked endlessly, and later joined the army, all so I would never lack. Life was never easy for him, but he never complained. When I did wrong, he scold
CHAPTER 33- HOW COULD LOVE STAND IN DARK TIMES
MORWENNA’S POVI returned to my house to find it scattered, just as I had expected. Aiden and his men had made a mess of my home, all in the name of finding me. Thankfully, I hadn’t been here. I knew they still wouldn’t be able to get me, but the violation stung. How had they found this place? And why had Seraphine not come with them? Something was off. Had she discovered my existence? Was she able to see past the magical walls I had built around this house? Someone else must have seen us for it to reach Aiden. But who? I knew Seraphine; she wasn’t the type to pierce through magical wards. So how did they find our whereabouts? And why hadn’t she come for me herself? Confusion clouded my senses as these thoughts swirled. Something was wrong, and I would have to find out what. For now, I could only hope Dravon was fine. He had been badly injured, and his wounds weren’t healing fast. It was the full moon. I knew well that if a dragon was injured under its light, he wouldn’t heal as quick
CHAPTER 34 - ASHES BENEATH THE CROWN
SERAPHINE'S POVI sat in my small apartment deep in thought when I heard a bang on my door. Who would dare knock on my door like that I thought surprised as I headed for the door. On getting there I found the townswomen standing outside. “Peace for Eldorado, the girl must be found, the traitor prince must be brought to book” they chorused. “Women of Eldorado, what is the cause of this chaos?” I asked surprised to see the leaders and high female executives from different clans all gathered at my doorstep.“High Priestess of Eldorado” one of the women who I recognized as Layla greeted with a curtsy, then she continued “the clans of this town are going down with each passing day, by the very hands of our own king, all because of the inferno, the well-known curse of fire and nothing is being done about it like it's something palatable or some mere joke.” Her face was distorted with anger. “We headed here from the palace, we went in search of the king, but he chased us away knowing full w
CHAPTER 35 - PAIN AND RECRUITMENT
NATHAN POV: “Somebody help me” A faint cry.At first I thought it was the wind pushing through the trees. Then it came again. Clearer this time “Help me”My body went cold. The sound came from deeper in the bushes off the narrow path. I pushed through branches that scratched my arms and face. The crying grew louder, mixed with rough male laughter. My heart began to pound so hard it felt like it would split my ribs. When I reached the small clearing, I saw three men surrounding a girl, the same girl from the poultry. One of them had grabbed her wrist. Another tried to pull at her cloak. She struggled, her long pale hair falling over her face.“Let me go” she cried.I did not think, I just moved.“Take your hands off her.”They turned toward me. One of them laughed.“Go home boy. This is not your business.”I stepped closer. My fists clenched.“It became my business when you touched her.”The tallest one shoved the girl aside and walked toward me. He smelled of alcohol. “You think y
CHAPTER 36 - VISIONS AND REALIZATION
Seraphine’s POVThe wind howled like a chorus of ancient spirits, whipping through the cracks of my chamber and rattling the thin panes of glass. Outside, midnight hung heavy, thick and endless. But inside, I sat unmoved, seated cross-legged in a circle of flickering candles. Their flames danced and twisted, reflecting off the polished floor and the red amulet around my neck.My hands moved in rhythm, whispering words older than kingdoms words that sounded strange, words that demanded power. They were forbidden spells the very ones my mother had always warned me not to try.I could feel it the strain in my bones, the pull of power beyond mortal reach. My chest drummed as if I had run through a storm, and yet I remained seated, the center of a tempest far more dangerous than the wind outside. My forehead was wet with sweat, and a sharp warmth ran down my face.Blood.It seeped from my nose, thick and relentless, dripping onto the stone floor, dark against the candlelight. My eyes water
CHAPTER 37 - WHY DO YOU ALWAYS SAVE ME
HAZEL'S POVI woke to Dravon breathing softly next to me. The cave was quiet except for water dripping somewhere in the back and wind at the entrance. Morning light came through the narrow opening, making thin golden lines across the furs where we slept. I lay on my side, head on my arm, and just watched him.He slept deeply, one arm reaching across where I had been, like even in dreams he tried to hold me. Dark hair fell across his forehead, messy from the night before. His face looked softer asleep, the worry around his mouth gone. Scales shimmered faintly along his shoulders and collarbone, like tattoos in this light, reminding me he was more than just a man. Something ancient and wild caught between two worlds.I traced his jaw with my eyes, memorizing the small scar near his temple, the way his lashes shadowed his cheeks. My chest hurt with a tenderness so strong it was almost painful. I wanted to reach out and push that hair from his face, but I didn't. He looked peaceful. I rar
CHAPTER 38 - LOVE ANS FOREVER
HAZEL'S POV;Dravon let out a slow ragged breath."Because the moment I first saw you, standing in that sacrificial tower, chin high, eyes blazing even though you were half frozen, I knew. Not your name. Not your story. But you. Something in me recognized something in you. I've lived too long, Hazel. I've watched everything I ever cared about turn to ash. I forgot what it felt like to want more than just the next sunrise. Then you appeared. Fierce, stubborn, impossible. And suddenly forever felt too short."He lifted a hand, brushing trembling fingers along my cheek."I would forget this world," he said, his voice cracking. "I would trade every mountain, every treasure, every war, to live in a place where only you existed. Where every morning I woke to your voice and every night I fell asleep holding you. I would burn eternity to ash for one lifetime with you."Tears slipped down my cheeks."I love you, Hazel," he whispered. "I think I've loved you since the stars were young."The wor
