Chapter 41
“Didn’t Roman boldly claim he would hold a wedding grander than yours?” Leo said angrily, her voice sharp with resentment. “Tell the Max family to reserve the Walter Hotel in its entirety! If they find it too costly, the Henderson family will cover the remaining expenses!”Her eyes burned with determination. “I want every influential figure in Westwegia City present at your wedding. Let’s see how Roman plans to surpass that!” She said to her Adrian but man, Adrian Max.Jenny’s eyes lit up immediately. “That’s brilliant, grandpa! I’ll contact Richard right now and ask the Max family to send out even more invitations!”Initially, Jenny had only intended to exaggerate Lena’s so-called arrogance. She hadn’t expected her complaints to escalate into such an aggressive strategy. To her delight, she now didn’t even have to shoulder the wedding expenses alone.Leo wasn't finished yet.“Didn’t Roman say that if his wedding failed to outshine yours, he would divorce Lena?” she continued coldly. “
Chapter 42
“I returned to Westwegia City the day before yesterday,” Carsus reported solemnly. “We’ve received urgent intelligence. Some rival corporations in the city have begun mobilizing again. It must be them who sponsored Mario and his me l.”His expression was unusually grave. Roman’s gaze sharpened instantly.“Once the wedding concludes, I’ll personally deal with them,” he said in a steady tone. “If necessary, I will wipe all of them and purchase their companies.”The calmness in his voice carried unshakable authority.“They know that with you leading these two corporations, theirs’ is doomed,” Carson declared with conviction. “Anyone who challenges us will face annihilation.”Roman shifted the topic slightly. “How are the wedding preparations progressing?”He had entrusted Carson with the entire arrangement. With only two days remaining, he wanted confirmation that everything was proceeding smoothly.“Please rest assured,” Carson answered confidently. “I’ve employed the best planners and

CHAPTER 43At exactly 6:30 AM, Lena's alarm rang loudly, waking her up to the lonely bed. She hadn't seen Roman for two days. She hasn't been able to communicate or know anything about him because he was always unreachable. The first thing she did when she woke up was take her phone and call his number. “Please pick up, please pick up!” She prayed deep down as dialed his number. As sadly expected, three deeps and “... unreachable” followed. Now, she dropped her phone, almost shedding tears. She had no plans for the day, no reasoning as to how things would go. She was stuck in the bed, replaying all the worst ways things would end up for her. She however remembered his words to her, that even at the last minute, he would turn up. That gave her little courage. As she thought deeply about it, almost drawing herself in the process, then came a knock on the door. “Could it be him?!” She didn't even mind asking who it was, but ran to it and opened it at once. “Good morning ma'am.
Chapter 44
As Carson actively planned for the day to work as Roman wanted, Roman wanted to make it to the city on a luxurious bus. It seemed the best option at the time, but soon, it became less likely. “It's already 8:30 am and I don't think I can make it there with a bus.” He told himself. Time was already catching up to him. “I think you'll be taking the time out to drop me first.” Roman called his personal pilot, Alex and informed him. Alex was a loyal servant of Roman and his family. Always ready to go when called. “I thought you wanted to use the bus.” Alex asked. “Change of plans. I need to get there faster.” Roman clarified. It was no big deal for Alex. He took the helicopter to Roman as soon as possible and together, they left for the city. The ride was a smooth one, good weather, no issues, well until they encountered one in the sky. From up there, they saw black smoke over the village they flew over. The smoke was going hot, into the skies. “What is that?” Roman asked immed
Chapter 45
Good thing luck was on his side. The air strikes didn't damage his parachute and he landed safely in an enclosed space. He was displaced into an island, a place he was unfamiliar with. Breathing heavily, he tries to relax with Alex, who was still unconscious. He touched Alex's pulses to make sure Alex was still breathing before sitting back, finally taking the deep sign of relief. He was already very dirty and damaged. That whole experience had ruined him. He didn't know where to go from there or how to even leave that scene without being tracked by whatever it was that was firing at him. He also suspected that whoever it was that was firing at him, would be on their way. “Carson!” Roman jumped as he remembered. He took his phone out to call Carson and ask him how close the police patrol was. When he took the phone out and tried using it, it wasn't responding. The phone was dead, damaged from the series of violent events. “No!” Roman yelled out as he couldn't access the phon
Chapter 46
As the bandits ran off, some air strikes taking some of them, the police descended down the shore. The ones who first reached made their way to Roman, while shooting at the bandits. The bandits were completely taken unawares and couldn't even defend themselves. All they could do at that moment was run. “We got you!” They untied him and he could finally speak. “Thank you. Thank you….” He struggled to say no them no matter how much pain he was feeling. The next thing, he fell to the ground and held his belly. They held him up at once and checked him, lifting up his clothes to see the deep cut he had sustained. He probably sustained in the helicopter or during the fall. It was a very fatal cut in the sides, but he didn't feel it until that moment. The adrenaline hit probably made it unknown to him. The pain began setting in now that he felt safe. “We have to rush you to the hospital!” They alerted him. Carson has been trying to reach Roman for hours, but the number wasn't going
Chapter 47
Adrian and Jenny did as they planned. They moved their time up and were petty enough to reach out to guests from Lena's wedding. “Lena and Roman and not getting married today or ever, so it's best you make your way to our wedding.” They sent secret messages like that. Only about a hundred people had accepted the invitation to their wedding, compared to over 500 who were going to Lena and Roman's. People were definitely more interested in the mysterious love of Lena and Roman, compared to their stale, cruel love and it showed very clearly. To Jenny and Adrian, this was the best time to win the audience back to their favour. It however did not work as they planned. “We'd rather wait till night to watch Roman and Lena get married, than come to your wedding.” One of the guests told them. This was a very embarrassing feat. They knew the things Adrian and Jenny did to Roman especially and sympathised with him. When they didn't know who Roman really was, they took every opportunity to
Chapter 43
The guests who were waiting for Jenny and Adrian's arrival were surprised when they began seeing posts flying around. They saw pictures of the hospital and live feeds that showed Jenny and Adrian there. “How could they be there?” The guests began to murmur. They were supposed to be at the hall already to commence the marriage celebration, but they weren't. They rather were in the hospital, looking for all possible ways to shame. They felt disgusted. To them, the couples didn't respect them and even chose to be at another place over their own wedding hall. They cared more about disrupting their enemies' weddings than conducting theirs. This told a lot about their personality. Soon, the agitated guests began to leave one by one and the information was taken to the would-be couples. “They're not serious about getting married.” The guests said as they headed back to their cars. Things were not going as they planned because only the hate against Roman was supposed to trend on the
Chapter 49
A bridal flower dropped from one of the helicopters scattering the field, supposedly paid for landing. “What was that?” Leo asked. No one understood what was happening at the get go. “It's probably a prank.” One of her family members said, causing the rest to mock her. Lena was equally confused as to the reason for the random occurrence of events, but she knew something was definitely happening. Soon enough, it would be clear to her. “How can a helicopter just drop off a flower for you?” The mocked. She stayed quiet, waiting for the next surprise. It turns out Roman had changed plans of the helicopter trend, but his new plan still had helicopters. It was going to be a step by step grand gesture. That would keep people guessing what would come next, while keeping them in awe, anytime it did. Leo really thought so much more would happen, but when nothing happened as they returned downstairs, Lena with her new set of expensive flowers, he couldn't help but begin degrading her all
Chapter 50
Adrian was one of the people swept away by this change in events. He truly hoped the people were for him. He hoped one of his bosses in the upper league sent boys or something. It was disappointing how things turned out. He knew he had to do something to neutralise the feeling and make the atmosphere less embarrassing for himself and his wife to be. “Ha! Roman!” He said as he smiled and went to Roman. “It's good to see you back on your feet. We didn't know these men and ladies were here to see you, we'd bring them right in.” He explained. His words floated over Roman’s ears, who acted like he was non-existent. “How are you feeling, boss?” One of his men asked him. “I'm better.” He replied. This was the biggest slap to Adrian's face. It was clear that Roman had heard him, but purposely chose to ignore him. Adrian intended to make the situation better, but instead made it worse. Roman turned and saw his wife to be, Lena. He walked slowly to her. Lena was frozen at his sight. Te
