Ch. 101 He's above your league
Ragnar turned towards the familiar voice, his heart skipping a beat. How could it be her? Nika Ainsel stepped forward, dressed in a white cloudstar silk. With each step she took, it seemed as if heavenly bodies were shimmering on her, paying their homage. Her molten gold eyes shone like the sun, her face flawless, features perfectly sculpted, her dark blonde hair was wavy, and perfectly styled, weaves holding them in places while a sizeable bulk of them flowed down her shoulders. Her skin was fairer than milk, rosy, without a single blemish in sight. Her beauty was ethereal, with an icy coldness that gave her a celestial untouchable air. She was wearing low heeled boots, which only increased her perfect figure and tempting physique. On her wrist, a white piece of silk was curled, looking harmless, but anyone who was familiar with her knew it was a lethal killer. Soft but deadly, like she was. She was the goddess in the hearts of all. Professor Lan's eyes lit up on seeing her, makin
Ch. 102 Won't be easy
Ragnar’s brows furrowed. If there was no fourth person he wouldn't just leave, he would be dragging down Nika with him. Previously, Nika finding teammates shouldn't have been hard as everyone would be vying to join her. But with her extending an arm to Ragnar, most people were glaring at him with evil eyes. Of course, no one would want to join and become public enemy number two. Most people was lowkey waiting for them to fail, so that the ‘goddess’ will realize that associating with ‘trash’ will only pull her down.He sighed, feeling his head begin to ache. Nika gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. “It's just two minutes, what are we going to do?”Many people were watching with glee, certain no one would want to join because most of them were unhappy with Ragnar. He would still fail after all. That's what he deserved for daring to come close to the goddess in their hearts.Kelvin's lip was already curling in a victorious smirk. Aria and some others still watched with anticipation,
Ch. 103 What a fool should look like
The battle has been going on for five hours now. Ragnar watched carefully, memorizing techniques and fighting styles. Ever since he began to cultivate soul power, his memory became photographic. He could remember something just by seeing it once. Now that he was actually paying attention, it was even more so. The elimination round started from group C, as if saving the best for last. Ragnar’s eyes drifted to the scoreboard. Of the one hundred and eight groups, only seventy two remained. Thirty six had already been eliminated and sent to the other side to watch the match alongside spectators. Currently, division B were the ones being called out. Division C elimination round was over, leaving only one group. “Hmm.” Darlene sighed. “The candidates this year are very powerful. Even those categorised as division C are well prepared with smooth techniques and fierce attack efficiency.”Her eyes went to the only division C group still standing on reserve, waiting for the final showdown.
Ch. 104 Something has gone wrong
Kelvin was sprawled on the floor in an undignified posture. He lurched forward and vomited blood. The person with the axe looked startled, as if he couldn't wrap his head around what just happened. He looked at his axe, then at the groaning Kelvin, and back again, confusion clouding his face. After all the hype and the reputation that always followed Kelvin, he hadn't dared to take the battle lightly. Hence he'd brought out his real ability at once. Unexpectedly, the legendary dragon looked up to by everyone fell ‘yakata’ on the floor even before the real battle began. First move and he already fell. Laughable. Zeke quickly pulled the axe guy back and sent out poisoned darts. He found an opening and wasn't about to let it go unused. Two of Kelvin’s teammates reacted quickly, skidding to the floor, light shields rising before then, forming a double layer of protection, The last person in the group rushed to Kelvin and pulled him up, a hint of worry in his eyes. “Are you alright?”
Ch. 105 A despicable move
The moderators and referee remained patient, watching them exchange moves. Zeke was probably the only one still calm at that point. The rest were getting agitated and it showed in the way they used their skills. Ragnar continued watching them. Suddenly, Kelvin disappeared from his spot, and Zeke flew up into the air and hit the barricade. He was the center point of his group's formation. The moment he was sent flying, everyone else lost their balance, and the poison fog cleared. Ragnar’s eyes narrowed. Air canon; a bloodline related skill he'd spent months trying to master some time last year, but never fully executed. It seemed that while he trained and purified the bloodline powers, someone was at his home reaping the benefits. The timer began to beep, tension increasing all around. Ten seconds and it would be victory if they stayed down. Zeke stirred. Kelvin's eyes widened, a hint of confusion visible on his face. The technique he just used normally bypassed the exterior form
Ch. 106 Destined to be my stepping stone
Someone jumped on Ragnar from behind. He stumbled forward, arms windmilling, eyes widening in shock. The weight slammed into his back, nearly driving him face-first into the stone. But the scent that hit him was familiar. Warm in a careful kind of way, leaving him no need to guard against it. He turned, twisting his torso to throw the weight off, and came face to face with Thane grinning like a madman while hanging off his back, arms locked around his neck.“Are you trying to worsen the dating scandals? People are already talking trash about us?” Ragnar said with a disapproving frown, though the red creeping up his ears betrayed him.Thane cackled, loud and shameless, and kissed his cheek. Full on lips to skin, wet and loud, each movement deliberate. Ragnar froze. Every muscle locked. Nika’s eyes widened until the gold in them flared. Vonn, who just joined behind them, missed a step entirely. His boot caught air and he stumbled, eyes wide with shock. “What the…” Thane chuckled,
Ch. 107 SVIP
Central dining hallThe central dining hall was divided into three sections. A hierarchy carved in marble and glass. The ground floor was the common room. Loud and crowded. Orders from outside the school and the restaurants operating within the cafeteria were delivered here in steaming carts and sealed boxes. It was more lively. Laughter bounced off the walls. Trays clattered. The smell of savory dishes and hurry hung in the air. This was where the most people ate.Above was the VIP halls, sealed behind reinforced doors. Students with VIP cards could host their guests there, or eat…if they chose not to do it in their respective lodges. People rarely used the central dining halls, except when meeting up with friends. After all, eating in your lodge was convenient. Private chefs, fewer prying eyes trained on you. The time spent trekking to the central dining hall could be used for something productive, or even to rest. Time was currency here.Besides, the central dining hall didn’t prov
Ch. 108 A surprise for you
Ragnar muted his phone’s volume with his thumb and continued to eat. The screen kept flashing a pale blue light against the tablecloth. Nonstop, lke it could wear him down if it flashed long enough.Nika looked at him, then at the phone which wouldn’t stop blinking. She carefully wiped her lips with a white napkin, each move exuding elegance that only came from years of royal training. Precise and clean. “Who is it?” Her tone was soft, eyes returning to the phone as it pulsed again. “The caller has been quite persistent.”Ragnar sighed. His teeth worked the piece of meat in his mouth, jaw tight. He swallowed and turned to her. “Kenneth Craig’s wife. Satisfied?”Nika leaned back the moment she heard the name. Of course she knew who they were. Even during Ragnar’s childhood, she’d been such a two faced bitch. Smiling in public to put on a show of goodness, while abusing him behind closed doors, and droning on to whoever cared to hear that she was doing it for his own good. To build his
Ch. 109 Accident
Ragnar stared steadily at her, unblinking. The dining hall noise faded away till it was just her within his vision.“What? You don’t believe me?” Nika asked. Her chin lifted, but her eyes didn’t.He flicked her nose. Light and familiar. “Of course, I believe you. As long as you’re the one who said it, I will always believe.”Nika touched her nose and glared at him, rubbing the spot. “I’m no longer your little friend in pigtails. Don’t flick my nose again. You’re ruining my steeze.”Ragnar scoffed and rolled his eyes. Memories of her saying “ouch, stop,” back in elementary school were still very much clear in his memory. Her angry face had been so adorable. Cheeks red, fists small. She’d indeed grown up. Taller, sharper, with figures all in the right places. But as for him stopping his little mischief? That probably wasn’t possible. It was a reflex.“Do you still want to maintain your image before me?” Ragnar whispered to her, leaning in just enough. “Isn’t that too greedy? I’ve even s
Ch. 110 Injury is good
Ragnar bolted from his seat. Wide eyes, heart pounding erratically against his ribs. He was so sure he stopped the arrow on time. He felt it shatter under his control. How did it end up still piercing him?He rushed to Thane. “Are you alright? I’m so sorry.”Thane held up a palm to stop him. Blood smeared his fingers. “It’s fine. I know you didn’t mean it.”Ragnar tried to touch his arm. Thane stepped back. Ragnar’s shoulders slumped. Regret crept up his spine, cold and heavy. He should have just let him tease him instead of retaliating and creating this giant mess. One moment of pride.“I really thought I stopped its advance in time,” Ragnar said, voice low. “I thought I crushed the ice before it reached your skin. I really didn’t know. Thane, you know I will never harm you intentionally.”Thane looked at him, eyes resentful, with no trace of smile on his face. The air between them went thin. Then he saw Ragnar’s face, flled with panic, regret, pain, and with something raw.Thane sud
