The doctor smiled.“Your daughter is fine,” she said. For a second, the words didn’t seem real. But Conor didn’t react the way everyone expected. He didn’t smile. He didn’t relax. He didn’t even move at first. He just stood there, still and quiet, like a man carved out of stone.“Explain,” he said. His voice was low and controlled. But there was something sharp under it.The doctor adjusted the papers in her hands. She had clearly dealt with worried parents before, but something about Conor made her careful in a different way.“We completed a full examination,” she said. “Blood work. CT scan. Neurological evaluation. Cardiac monitoring. Everything we could think of.”She paused, like she was choosing words that would not break something fragile.“Some blood had been drowned away from her,” she added.Conor’s eyes shifted slightly at that.“We also found traces of anesthetic exposure,” she continued. “Most likely inhaled gas. That’s why she’s still sleeping.”Conor’s jaw tightened.“Bu

The hallway outside Olivia’s room was silent. The guards straightened immediately when they saw him.Conor simply nodded and entered. The room was dimly lit and the evening sun filtered through the curtains.Olivia remained unconscious on the bed, her face looked pale against the white pillow.Even now, faint traces of dried tears remained near the corners of her eyes.Conor closed the door behind him.For a moment, he simply stood there looking at her.Thinking about everything she had endured: The fear, the panic and the helplessness. The thought that their daughter might be lost forever.Slowly, he walked to her bedside and sat down. His hand reached out carefully and gently, his fingertips brushed against her cheek. Her skin was cool, he stroked her face softly. The terrifying man who had made entire organizations tremble was nowhere to be seen now.Only a husband remained.A husband watching the woman he loved.“Olivia…”His voice was low, almost whisper.“You worried yourself si

Olivia remained pressed against Conor’s chest for a long moment. The tears would not stop, every time she thought about Lily being safe, a fresh wave of relief crashed over her.Just hours ago, she had believed the worst. She had heard those horrible words. She had imagined Lily frightened and alone. The pain had been so overwhelming that her mind had simply shut down.Yet now, Lily was safe and right next door. The thought felt unreal, almost too good to believe.Olivia slowly lifted her head, her eyes were red from crying. She looked at Conor quietly. For several seconds, she simply stared at him, then her lips trembled.“Thank you.”The words came out softly, almost like a whisper.Conor looked back at her, she swallowed hard.“No…”A tear rolled down her cheek.“Thank you for bringing her back.”She didn’t know how he had done it.She didn’t know what had happened after she lost consciousness. All she knew was that when everyone else had failed, Conor had brought their daughter ho

As the relief settled, another thought slowly surfaced, it was a memory. That voice on the phone earlier. “This is the price for offending Titan Group.” Olivia’s fingers tightened slightly around the blanket. The warmth in her eyes faded and her expression darkened. Conor noticed immediately because he had been watching her the entire time. His brows drew together slightly. “What’s wrong?” Olivia didn’t answer right away, she lowered her gaze. Conor’s voice softened. “Are you hurting somewhere?” He immediately glanced toward the call button. “Should I get the doctor back?” Olivia quickly shook her head. ”No.” Her voice was quiet. “It’s not that.” Conor sat beside the bed again. "Then what is it?” Olivia hesitated, for several moments she simply stared at her hands. Then finally she spoke. “What are we going to do about Titan Group?” After saying that, Olivia swallowed. “They kidnapped Lily.” The words alone made her chest tighten. “They threatened her.” Her eyes becam

She looked at him seriously. “If necessary…” Olivia paused. Then said, “I can ask DragonTech for help.” For one brief moment, Conor almost laughed. Like really laughed. The feeling was so unexpected that he nearly showed it. DragonTech? His own company? His own people? The organization currently waiting for his orders? If Olivia only knew. If she knew that every executive in DragonTech would stand at attention the moment he walked into a room… If she knew that the hospital floor outside was practically locked down because of him… If she knew that half of River City had been turned upside down looking for Lily because of a single phone call from him… The expression on her face would probably be priceless. A small smile almost appeared at the corner of his mouth. Fortunately, he controlled it in time. Olivia noticed the slight change in his expression.“What?” Conor cleared his throat. "Nothing.” She narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "You looked like you were about to laugh.”

Then, despite everything that had happened, a soft laugh escaped her. A real one, small and shaky. The sound made something ease in Conor’s chest. He hadn’t realized how badly he’d wanted to hear it again. Eventually, Olivia’s laughter faded and the exhaustion returned. Her eyelids felt heavier with each passing minute and Conor noticed immediately. “Sleep,” he said. “But Lily…” “She’s next door.” His voice remained steady. “I’ll be here if she wakes up.” Olivia hesitated. “Promise?” “Promise.” Only then did she slowly close her eyes. Conor remained beside her, his hand never left hers. Minutes passed and the steady beeping of the monitor filled the room. Olivia’s breathing gradually became deeper and more even. Every now and then, her fingers would twitch slightly in her sleep. Each time, Conor’s hand tightened around hers just enough to reassure her without waking her. He sat there for a long time watching over her, the woman who had spent years carrying

Less than ten minutes later, his phone rang again. Conor answered immediately. “King." Nick’s voice came through the speaker. “We’ve finished the preliminary investigation.” Conor’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Report.” “Yes.” Papers shuffled on the other end. “The Winston family isn’t as powerful as they pretend to be.” Nick paused briefly before continuing. “They’re only a second-rate family in the province. They have some money and local influence, but compared to truly powerful families…” He paused. “They don’t amount too much.” Conor listened quietly, his expression didn’t change. Nick continued. “The private hospital they operate looks respectable on the surface. But after digging deeper, we’ve already found several irregularities, questionable transactions, suspicious agreements and some medical records that don’t quite add up.” A cold look appeared in Conor’s eyes. “What about Titan Group?” “They still have some influence over Titan Group.”Nick answ

The call remained connected. A few minutes later, Nick spoke again. “King, I’m sending everything now.” Conor lowered his gaze to his phone. One message after another appeared on the screen. The Winston family estate address, photos, names, family relationships, business records, the old woman’s name, her son’s name, her grandson’s information. Every piece of information Nick had managed to gather. Nick’s voice remained serious. “We’re still digging deeper. But this is enough for now.” Conor quietly read through the files and his face remained expressionless. But his eyes grew colder with every page. He stopped when he saw Lily’s name. The words “compatible donor” appeared in one of the records. For a few seconds, he didn’t move. Then he locked his phone. “Good work.” Nick froze. “…King?” “Thank you.” The simple words caught Nick off guard. He had followed Conor for years. Conor rarely praised anyone. Especially on nights like this. Nick lowered hi

“How could this happen to my grandson?!” Her hair was messy, her expensive clothes were wrinkled and her eyes were swollen red from crying. All dignity had disappeared. She sat on the polished marble floor in the center of the living room. Then she started pounding the ground with her hands. “My poor grandson!” Tears streamed down her face. “He was supposed to live!” The servants nearby lowered their heads, no one dared approach her. The old woman suddenly rolled onto the floor, completely losing control. “My grandson’s heart!” “My grandson’s heart is gone!” She cried so hard that she struggled to breathe. “That arrogant martial artist stole it! He killed my bodyguard! And ook the donor away!” Her voice cracked from crying. “He ruined everything!” Several members of the Winston family rushed downstairs after hearing the commotion. “What happened?” “Mother!” “What are you talking about?” A middle-aged man hurried forward, his face was filled with confu

Several family members immediately agreed. “That’s right!” “He went too far!” “He actually killed one of our strongest bodyguards!” “He must pay for this!” “We can’t let this go!” “If word gets out, people will think the Winston family is easy to bully!” The voices in the room grew louder, feeding off one another as the anger intensified. “Find him!” “Make him kneel and apologize!” “Take back what belongs to us!” Another voice rang out bitterly. “Our young master is still waiting for surgery. How are we supposed to explain this? He destroyed our family’s only hope!” As the others rallied behind him, Mike’s expression turned even colder. “No matter what background he has,” he said in a chilling tone, “he’ll regret provoking the Winston family.” He turned to the old woman, and his voice softened slightly. “Don’t worry. I’ll handle this. I’ll make him pay, and I’ll get justice for our grandson.” The old woman’s eyes lit up instantly. “Really?” she asked,
