THE DEAL
The music didn’t stop. But everything else did.For a split second, the entire ballroom seemed to tilt on its axis as Beth’s lips pressed against Kyle’s. It wasn’t soft. It wasn’t shy.It was bold, claiming, and deliberate.A statement.Gasps rippled through the students like wildfire.Adrian’s hand froze mid-step, his fingers still wrapped loosely around Kelly’s. His jaw tightened, eyes narrowing dangerously as he watched the scene unfold.Kelly… didn’t move. But her smile faded.Slowly.Kyle could see the burning of anger and hatred in her eyes.Kyle, on the other hand, felt his heart slam violently against his ribs. For a moment, he forgot everything—Adrian, Stephan, the whispers, the humiliation. All he could feel was Beth… her hand gripping his collar, her body pressed against his like she was daring the entire world to challenge her.And when she finally pulled away, the silence was deafening.Beth tilted her head slightly, her lips curving into a victorious smirk as she looked
MONEY IS POWER AND EVERYTHING THAT COMES ALONG WITH IT
After the ball, Kyle went home in his little fancy car he had bought. His mind played back everything that happened at the ball. The game was now complex thanks to Kelly and Adrian who wanted to make a show. [ DING! ]Kyle's phone chimed only to see a message from Beth. "Did you enjoy your night?" Kyle packed and stared at the message for quite a while. When you have power and money, many ladies suddenly want to be a part of your life. Beth Henderson was like that. Kyle knew she wouldn't have talked to him in the first place if he was still the same old Kyle who couldn't even afford a simple and modest lifestyle.Typing " On my way. Thanks for making today a memorable one." he typed back. Kyle dropped his phone and drove back home. There was a lot he needed to take up with us grandmother. The journey took a while thanks to his new car. Kyle was in the habit of tacking through transit and trek home from the junction but now, he drove through the quite street down to the house
THE DEATH OF A VIRTUOUS WOAMAN
"I am going to pay! Just heal her, doctor!" Kyle yelled, running his hands through his hair. The nurses could be seen running into the V.I.P. ward and rushing out. A man in a white jacket stood in front of him, his gaze slightly worried. "I am sorry, Kyle. I thought you knew," he said slowly. "What are you talking about? I am missing something?" Kyle asked, trying to hold the dam of tears that was trying to burst through his eyes. "Alice never told you that she was battling cancer?" The doctor asked. Kyle froze. His gaze suddenly dropped, his body weakened, and he collapsed to the floor. The doctor bent, hovering over his body. "You can do this, Mr. Kyle. Now is the time you need to be strong for the both of you. I am sorry, but there is nothing we can do. All I can promise you is that we can buy her time." Kyle raised his head slowly; his eyes were filled with so much pain. "How much? How long can you help preserve her life?" he asked. The doctor let out a deep, long sigh.
MOURN
Zack got to the hospital as fast as he could. His gaze darted back and forth, trying to find Kyle. He rushed towards the receptionist. A woman in her thirties. "Please, I am looking for my friend," Zack said with his gaze arched. He looked back occasionally to see if he could get a hold of Kyle mistakenly. The woman hit the table gently, trying to get his attention. "And who is your friend again?" she asked "His name is Kyle," he said with a stutter, running his hand through his golden hair. "Kyle, what? You need to help me here, Mr...." "Zack. My name is Zack.""Okay, Zack." The woman glanced through the book in front of her and raised her head up. "We have a lot of people going by the name Kyle. I need his surname, please." Zack was about to speak when he looked up and saw Kyle walking out of the main hall. His gaze was sullen, and his countenance said everything. Zack rushed towards him and grabbed his arms. "Tell me it is a lie. Tell me she is not dead." Kyle looked at
A BREAK OUT FIGHT
Kyle’s voice echoed through the hall, ricocheting off the lockers and drawing the attention of every student in the main hall. The crowd’s excitement became a low hum of anticipation, like the quiet before an actual fight. Stephan froze for a split second, clearly caught off guard by the fire in Kyle’s eyes. His gaze was unlike before when he bowed his head and begged when he needed too. The taunting smirk that had dominated his face was replaced with a flicker of unease.“You think yelling is going to scare me, Kyle?” Stephan finally said, his voice forced calm, but his eyes betrayed a hint of fear. “You think a few tears and a fancy family can change who you really are? News flash, no one cares! No one cares if you date the most sort after girl or even hail from a rich family. You are nothing!" Kyle’s hands remained clenched, his face betraying the anger he had been trying to subdue. He took a slow, deliberate step closer, letting the anger build in each measured movement. “I
A SHOW NEVER TO FORGET (PART 1)
Bastard! That word echoed through the walls of the school making Kyle turn his eyes to meet Adrian who seems to be enjoying the show. " Wow!" he said throwing his hands in a funny gesture. His new braided here covering a part of his face. " You didn't tell me you were such a good fighter, Kyle." he said walking forward. Kyle's chest rose and fell as he looked at Stephan who was a bit scared. " I want to believe you are not trying to outsmart me with your pretence." Adrian said again But his first words rippled the atmosphere causing a bit of a ruckus. " A bastard?" " Does that mean he lacks the privilege Adrian is having?" " Why is he parading himself like a king then?" " Does Beth even know this?" The murmuring starts to grow with time. " A word about my grandmother then you would find yourself in the same boat Stephan is." Kyle said, angrily. Zack moved closer to him and tried to draw him back. " You don't have to make a big deal out of this, Kyle. I know you are mourni
A SHOW NEVER TO FORGET (PART 2)
Adrian’s voice dropped lower, stripped of its earlier mockery and now edged with something far more dangerous. He licked the corner of his mouth with a feisty look on his face. The air immediately became more tense and everyone could feel it. The laughter died. The whispers vanished.Even the ones who had been shouting bets moments ago now stood frozen, watching with wide eyes as the tension thickened into something suffocating.Kyle could feel it too. That change in the atmosphere even made him more scared. That moment where a fight stopped being a joke and became something real. The fight between brothers. The fight for legacy. Adrian rolled his neck slowly, the faint crack echoing in the silence. His shoulders relaxed, but it wasn’t carelessness—it was control. His stance adjusted again, smoother this time, more grounded. His left foot slid back slightly, his weight balanced perfectlyProfessional.Adrian was not just a student but a professional boxer. Kelly walked in that
KYLE DEFEATED
The students rushed out of sight while Adrian, Zack, Beth, Stephan, Tara, and Kelly remained. Meanwhile, Kyle was on the floor knocked out. The dean's gaze swept through the six of them, and he let out a sigh. Kids! Do you think we train fighters here?" he said with a smirk plastered across his face. "No, sir," Adrian said with a scoff. "But we can start now; it is clear that some of them need schooling, by the way." "Adrian!" the Dean barked. Adrian immediately stiffened at the sudden countenance of the school dean. "Do you know the reason why I allowed you to stay?" he asked with a pause right in front of him. Adrian gazed into the face of the old man and grinned. "Money is the key, and I guess we are paying lots of that, by the way." The Dean nodded. "Yes. Of course you are, but that doesn't mean you are free from the school rules. You both are going to clean the school toilet. Once Kyle is back on his feet, you both resume duty. Am I clear?" Adrian said nothing but look
GETTING A COACH
Kyle’s breathing came out uneven, each inhale shallow, controlled—as if his body had learned that taking in too much air would only invite more pain.Zack noticed it immediately.“Don’t try to talk,” he said softly. “Just focus on breathing.”Kyle let out a faint, dry chuckle that quickly turned into a wince. “Since when did you become the calm one?”“Since you almost died,” Zack shot back, his voice tight.Silence fell between them for a moment.Belinda moved around the room, jotting down a few notes on a clipboard, though her attention clearly lingered on the two boys. She had seen this before—the aftermath of pride, of rivalry, of young men trying to prove something they didn’t fully understand yet.Kyle shifted slightly, his face tightening again. “How bad is it?”Zack hesitated.Belinda answered instead. “Bad enough that if you throw another punch anytime soon, you might not wake up next time.”Kyle turned his head slightly toward her, studying her face. “You’re exaggerating.”“I
FROM ZERO TO HERO
Kyle didn’t hesitate. The moment Beth’s words settled, he stepped back slightly, ignoring the sharp pain from his ribs. His body screamed at him to stop, to sit and breathe, but Kyle was not ready for any of that. He was dying to save his face and also show the whole student body he was not weak. “Fine,” he muttered.Beth didn’t move. She simply watched.“Show me,” she repeated.Kyle clenched his fists. The hallway noise dimmed in his ears as he shifted his stance. It was nothing like the way Adrian moved, but it was something. His feet adjusted instinctively, one sliding back, his shoulders tightening as he raised his guard.A few nearby students slowed, sensing something was about to happen.“You’re injured,” Beth said. “So I won’t ask for speed. I want control. Show me how far you are healing and maybe we can get you to him." Kyle nodded faintly.“Throw a jab.” Beth ordered. Kyle inhaled. Then, his arm shot forward. It wasn’t fast. Not compared to Adrian. Not compared to what
