31: The Dragon Wants A Breeder
“What do you mean, ‘gone’?”The air between both men was tense and tight. Ren grinned like he won a lottery. Meanwhile, a small ball of rage was beginning to curl in the pit of Sato’s stomach. Especially when he looked behind Ren and did not find the target of the mission. He scoffed. It was a humorless sound. “Young Master, please tell me you did not do a thing as foolish as setting a target free. Ren cocked his head. "What baffles me is the fact that you would consider anything I do foolish.” He looked up and blew air through his nostrils. Warm air clouded the mask over his nose. “Humans never fail to amuse me. Who dares consider the acts of a dragon foolish?”The words drifted out in a murmur. So Sato did not quite catch it. “Excuse me?” He was not sure if he truly heard what he thought he did. Dragon. “Well, prove me wrong then.” He tried to move into the storage room, but Ren blocked him off. “Show me the target’s corpse.”“Nope.” Ren shook his head slowly. He looked calmer
32: Front, Center And Quarterback
Ren did not expect the heavy slap that followed his ludicrous words. It came like a stormy wind. Fast and hard.It snapped him right back to the surface and pushed the dragon spirit into hiding. He staggered backwards and grabbed his chin, looking around like he was not sure where he was for a moment.“You must be insane,” Hana spat. Her tone dripped acidic venom. “Was that the agreement?” Ren swallowed hard and looked like a lost puppy instantly. “W-What happened?” he murmured. “Did I do something wrong?”Hana let out a scoff that dripped with disbelief. “Breed you fire-breathing creatures? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Is that really why you married me? To… To make me your breeding machine?!”“Hana please,” Ren stepped forward, remorse and confusion clouding his features, “this is not what it looks like. I'm sorry.”Driving her fingers through her hair, she moved further away from him. “Look, if this is not going to work, it's best you let me go now. I’ve been missing fo
33: The Legendary Arrogant Princess
The school bell rang for the first period just as a car door slammed shut in front of RichCourt High. Students poured into their classrooms noisily. Mei Naruko adjusted the straps of her backpack and made her way away from the sleek black BMW. On the surface, she looked like a model student, clad in a gray vest over a sparkling white shirt, and a gray skirt that flared above her knees. She wore her long red hair in a ponytail, fringes hung over perfect green eyes. She reeked of money. From her hair down to her shiny ankle boots. “Ms. Naruko! Mei! Wait up!” A middle-aged man ran around the car to catch up with her. When he eventually caught up, Mei shot him a fiery stare. “What?” The driver stuttered as he quickly tried to find the words which would not offend his boss’s princess. Yuki Naruko, her father, was a respected businessman in Tokyo. Wealthy and influential. But what most people did not know was the fact that he was also feared for many reasons only those close enough kn
34: How To Be A Sensei
The Ninjas watched from the rooftop as the blue Bentley rolled into the school premises and sputtered to a stop in a tiny space in the outdoor parking lot. Shortly after, the history teacher of RichCourt second year class bounced out of his car struggling to knot his tie and carry his bag all at once. Aoki Itadori. Tall, broad-shouldered, handsome sensei. He stumbled across the interlocked floor and hurried into the hallway, nodding at the greetings tossed his way. His face was slick and shiny with perspiration, his hair sticking to his forehead in a wavy mess. He was never late, but today was an exception. And he seemed quite embarrassed and disappointed about it. Even the students were in awe, whispering behind his back. “Mr. Aoki must have been busy with some hotshot.” Raucous laughter followed the whisper. It sounded nothing like well-trained high school students. More like a group of low-class thugs. “That’s him, huh?” Ren asked no one in particular as he and his team watche
35: How To Be A Sensei To A Bunch Of Brats
The classroom was a myriad of reckless guffaws and incessant chatters. Buzzing like a beehive.Boys and girls sat perched on their desks in lousy manners. Some of them blew bubblegums and smacked them without control. Some bullies played around with a weaker mate's feelings in the back of the classroom. It was complete chaos in the air. So chaotic that no one noticed the teacher that had walked into the class. Ren Carter stood at the front of the classroom. He could not believe his eyes and ears. Most of all, he could not believe his luck of having to herd these sheep for the next few hours. Standing there, he was the cowardly Ren. But he could hear the voices in his head. Which was becoming a major occurrence. He kept hearing two opposing voices, and he knew who they belonged. Or…he thought he did. He still could not believe that his life had turned around so much that a few weeks down the line, he's standing in a classroom after temporarily incapacitating an innocent teacher, a
36: The Heart Of A Brother
“W-What are you doing to me?”All the whimpering brute could feel was the burning heat inside him. The flames that licked the walls of his chest and stomach and intestines. In his pain, he could barely decipher the words of the new teacher. Ren heaved a deep sigh and shook his head. Then, he lifted himself to his full height and walked around the room.Leaving the brute in agony. “Great warmth,” he started in a clear voice as he walked through the rows and columns. His eyes blazed hotter than their usual hazel color. A deep red that spooked everyone in the room. “That’s something else fire is capable of when it's stoked. The kind of warmth that soothes. The kind that burns.” He paused and swept his gaze across the room.Down the hallway, a commotion had begun. His sixth sense told him to leave. But he remained. “Right now,” his gaze swept to the boy who was now on the floor, clutching his arms and neck and chest, every part of his body, “your friend is burning inside. Literally.”
37: The Promised Hope
BANG! BANG!The heavy slap on the door startled him to his feet. Ren swiped his arm across his wet face and cleared his throat. He opened his mouth to speak, but a cowardly voice asked him to stay silent. Because it could be anyone out there. A threat. An ally he did not want seeing his tears. Maybe even students who would further taunt him for being a coward. The bang came again. More insistent this time. Then, SLAM! THUD! Doors began to slam shut in the restroom. Swallowing a lump down, he asked, “who’s there?” “Young Master? Is it really you?” Relief slithered into his chest and he pried the door open an inch to be sure that it was really the Ninjas and not probably guards or the school management in search of the impersonator. He could handle the allies who called him their young master.Ryota stood there with Akira. They both looked agitated and at loss for words. Clearly, they could see the tears sticking to Ren’s lashes. Ryota squinted through the small crack as he got
38: Taking Down A Lightning Master
“What on earth do these rich brats eat? She's so fucking heavy!”Ryota whined endlessly as they drove through Minato to Shin District on Ren Carter’s orders. “Money.” Akira snorted from the wheel. “They stuff their faces with it.”Silence engulfed the car. The only sound came from the smooth hum of the engine as it cruised down the highway, and the hum and whoosh of wind billowing past. Apparently, Shin District, a private 5-star resort, would be a good hide-out spot…somewhere they could keep Mei safe while figuring out how to handle the assassin. The idea had struck Ren only five minutes into the ride. He remembered the spot as one of those where the superiors at OakHills hospital used to have their secret meetings. After all…he'd stumbled into one, once upon a certain time.“We'll book her into a private booth as soon as we arrive,” he instructed quietly, his eyes darting everywhere around them. “Then we'll try to get ahead of the assassin. We can't tell what he's up to right now
39: The Firecracker
“I think he’s here.”Ren’s voice was thick and unstable in the darkness as it rose above the heavy breathing and not-so-stealthy-and-heavily-clumsy movements. “Who's… here?” Miku asked in a small voice. “The lightning master, stupid,” Ryota shot right after. “Did the lights not tell you enough?”“You might want to refrain from disrespecting fellow teammates on my missions, Ryota-san.” Ren sounded irritated this time. “And we should be thinking of a way out of this, not—”SKRRK! CRASH!Something shattered in the booth, and a rattled female voice went up in a scream. It was obviously the bratty princess, Mei Naruko. She was finally awake and horrified to find herself in the midst of chaos. “What's going on? Someone get me out of here!” “Shut up, brat!” Ryota hissed. “We're trying to think.”A moment later, a single, tiny flashlight blinked on. Akira was the one with the light. And his face did not look very bright from his teammates' slightly blurry standpoints. “Oh!” Miku flashed
40: First To Surrender
Icazo had barely recovered when Ren picked him up again and flung him. He was lying in the deserted corridor—the same one he had emptied by wreaking electrical havoc in the entire building of Shin District private resort. He was in pain. The kind that was white-hot and viciously teared up his irises. Ren Carter did not mind any of that at all. He charged like a fierce force and picked Icazo by his ankle, up from the floor, like he weighed nothing. “This is for disrespecting me.”SWING! He flung the assassin farther than any ordinary human would achieve with just one flick. This time, Icazo crashed through the air for a long moment. CRASH! SNAP! SMACK! THUD!The power transporting his body was far greater than he had ever witnessed. He kept flying through booths and walls until he landed in the kitchen. Next to a flickering gas cooker. For the first time since Icazo took on the mission to assassinate the only child of Yuki Naruko in honor of his dojo, he feared for his life. Becau
