CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-TWO Jessica and Miles watched him as he almost went crazy while he searched for the card with both hands, with his heart throbbing frantically against his ribs. “I am sure I put it inside my pocket. I just can’t remember the exact one.” Riley said with a shaky voice, and just when he was about to give up on his chances of finding the card, he felt it deep inside the back of the pocket of his pants, and he sighed heavily, placing his right hand on his chest.“Wow. I almost thought I lost it.” Riley said as he held onto the card with both hands while his friends looked at him without saying a word. “Muah! Muah!” He kissed the card with a smile on his face, and then he carefully returned it to his pocket and patted his pants with his right hand. “Now that we are done with that, can you continue with your story? What did they want? The people you said kidnapped you, what did they want?” Jessica asked with a tone laced with so much impatience and curiosity.

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-THREE “Guys? You are not saying anything.” Riley said calmly, looking at Jessica and Miles one after the other, and hoping that they were going to say something. “Come on, guys. You’ve got to believe me.” He continued, but his friends looked at him as though he was going crazy. “Riley? Are you okay?” Jessica asked calmly, and then she turned to look at Miles as though she needed his support. “Are you sure that he didn’t hit his head on something? Maybe the people he said kidnapped him have him something that is making him see visions.” Miles whispered, looking at Riley with so much curiosity written all over his face. “Guys! Listen to me, I am not going crazy. I am serious, you need to believe me.” Riley said in an attempt to convince his friends, but they still refused to budge. “Look, guys. A female voice speaks to me inside my head. She helped me fight the people who tried to hurt me. I had powerful abilities. I could fly in the air, I had super stre

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-FOUR Miles and Jessica exchanged glances at each other before they returned their gaze to Riley who had a confident smile on his face, looking at his friends who stared at him for a few seconds before they could close their mouths that were agape. “Unbelievable.” Miles said with his eyes wide open, and then he moved closer to Riley and grabbed the bottle of water from him. He held it very close to his face and observed if it was truly real. Jessica drew closer to him almost immediately and touched the bottle with both hands. “It’s really.” She gasped, and then she turned to look at Riley who nodded in affirmation. “I told you guys. You can go ahead and open it to be sure its real.” Riley said confidently, and Miles opened the bottle of water and poured a little on the ground, causing it to splatter as he took a step backward to avoid being wet. “This is amazing,” Jessica exclaimed, and then she grabbed the bottle of water from Miles and poured a little w

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE “Yeah! Amazing! It’s… beautiful.” Jessica pointed at the leg armor, and then she started to move closer to it slowly without taking her eyes away from it. “That’s so cool!” Miles said with a bright face, and then he joined Jessica who was almost very close to Riley. “Watch this, guys,” Riley said with a smile on his face, and then he moved his leg to power on the thruster of the leg armor which quickly started to hum loudly before taking him up above the heads of his friends who looked at him with their mouths agape. “Mind-blowing!” Miles exclaimed without being able to take his eyes off the leg armor that made Riley glide in space. “This is really amazing. And it’s beautiful too.” Jessica said with an excited smile on her face, and then she moved closer toward Riley, still looking up at him. “Is there any other thing it can do?” Miles asked, and Riley looked around to be sure that no one was coming. When he was certain that not even his mother was

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-SIX The three of them departed almost immediately and went into their different blocks to prepare for the next day, still harboring thoughts of their various encounters. Jessica and Miles couldn’t stop thinking of the huge revelation Riley made to them while the latter was filled with different thoughts, especially those that had to do with his family’s welfare. He returned to his block, and by the time he went into the room where his mother and brother were; he realized that they were fast asleep. He sighed heavily, and after staring at them for a few seconds, he slowly walked out of the room and shut the door behind him. The rest of the day was spent with his family, and at night, Riley prepared to leave for the cantonment. He had no clothes to put on except for the outfits he saw in the wardrobe in the room inside his block and picking up a bag he found on top of the wardrobe, he packed almost everything into the bag and kept it by a corner of the room

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN “Mum?“ He said calmly, and when he saw the tears trickling down his mother’s cheeks, he gasped at once and grabbed her hands. “You are crying, Mum. Please, don’t do this.” Riley pleaded while he was forced to get into a sad mood just like his mother. “You are making me sad, Mum. Please, don’t cry.” Riley let go of his mother’s right hand, and then he extended his right hand to her face and wiped some of the tears that refused to dry up. “Don’t cry, Mum. Everything is gonna be alright. I promise.” Riley said calmly, and when he was sure that she had gotten a grip on herself while she sniffled, he nodded in satisfaction. “There. You look very beautiful now that we have gotten rid of all of those tears.” Riley said with a smile on his face, and then he adjusted himself on the seat and cleared his throat. “I will be very fine, Mum. I promise, and I will be coming whenever I can to see you. You have to trust me.” “It’s not you that I don’t trust. It’s

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-EIGHT “Guys? Is there anything I should know?” He asked, looking at the two of them one after the other. Miles slowly withdrew his hand from Jessica and looked at Riley with an expression that was meant to prove that he was oblivious to what he was talking about. “What are you talking about?” He asked without taking his eyes off Riley, who had a smirk on his face. Jessica shared the same look of ignorance on her face, looking at Riley with her eyes wide open. “Don't act like you don't know what I am talking about, guys. I see the look in your eyes; it looks like you both are in love.” “What?” “Yes, Jessica. It’s clearly written in your eyes, especially Miles. He looks like he just won a jackpot!” “I don’t know what you are talking about,” Jessica said with a frown, and Miles added almost immediately with the same expression. “You must really be mistaken, Riley. I don’t know what you are talking about.” “Lies, Miles. You are not a wonderful liar; none

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-NINE “And what is wrong with that? You are acting like we are doing something wrong.” Miles said with a smirk on his face. “I didn’t say that. I just think that it’s too early to let anyone know about it. We just started what? Yesterday?” “It still doesn’t matter, Jess. As long as we care about each other, that’s all that matters.” Miles argued, his hands still holding onto Jessica’s waist. Jessica sighed heavily, and then she grabbed Miles by his hands and withdrew them from her waist at once, avoiding his gaze that melted her heart. “I still insist, Miles. Everything is happening so fast, and I don't want it to seem like we rushed things, okay? I think what matters is that we are in this together, and not the opinion of some other person.” “So I was thinking, guys…” Riley said with a smile on his face as he walked into them, looking toward the direction of the couch where Jessica was sitting until he saw her standing in front of Miles and was forced t

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTYRiley went into the room where his brother was, and he sat down on the bed beside him, dropping his bag on the ground. He turned to look at Sammy, and taking in a deep breath, he let it out slowly without taking his eyes off him or even blinking. “Hey, bro.” He said with a smile on his face, and then he sighed heavily before he continued. “Finally, I now have a true identity just like we had hoped for. I just got accepted into one of the biggest Guilds. Actually, I think it’s one of the best, the Silver Guild. Cool, right?” Riley nodded, and then he grabbed his brother's hands and patted them gently. “I know you may not be able to hear me, but I still came to give you the good news. A lot has happened, Sammy, and I really need you to wake up so that I can give you the full details of my encounters. I promise you that I will do everything I can to make sure that I succeed just like you have always wanted me to.” Riley said with his eyes bulging and almost

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE “Okay, son. Please, take care of yourself. If there is any danger there, don’t hesitate to come home. I can’t lose you.” Mrs. Ederson said with a shaky voice, and the tears that she had managed to hold still eventually trickled down her face. “You said you were not going to cry, Mum.” Riley wiped his mother’s tears with his left hand while he held onto his bag with his right hand. He cleared his throat after a few seconds before he continued. “I really have to go now, Mum. Today is our first day, and we can’t be late.” Riley said calmly, and his mother drew him closer to herself and embraced him tightly. “I am going to miss you very much, Riley. Make sure you stay close to Jessica. I will call her as soon as I get a phone with the money I have in the bank. Stay safe, son.” “I have heard you, Mum. I have to go now.” Riley pulled out from his mother’s embrace almost immediately, and then he looked at her for a few seconds before he sighed heavily. “I
