"This whole thing happened at your uncle's hotel," Edward said, a faint, intimidating smile playing at the corner of his mouth. "Don't tell me I should believe you never found out about that night till this moment."His eyes remained fixed on John's, watching for every flicker or any little reaction. He needed to know when to push and when to pull back. The moment the words left his mouth, he caught it... john's eyes shifted, just barely, for a split second. But still, Edward knew exactly what he had seen. So he pressed further."You were the closest to him. Are you really going to turn a blind eye to helping a dying girl who has only a few weeks or even days to live, just because you want to cover for him?"John shifted uncomfortably in his seat.Back in college, John and Ethan had been inseparable. They were best friends, despite everyone's confusion about how two people so completely opposite could ever get along. Ethan was arrogant and proud, buoyed by his family's name and fortun

"Come on, what do you say?" Ethan, who was determined to get the girl's attention, pressed further when the girl didn't even reply him. "I just need you to help tutor me on a subject I'm finding difficult. Nothing more. I will pay you for it, please."Camila hesitated for a bit before asking, "How much are you going to pay?""Two thousand dollars or more." He didn't even stutter. "You know... just tell me your price and I will pay you."Camila rolled her eyes inwardly. The money was enough to sort out so many bills hanging over her head. Though she had an uneasy feeling about this, she pushed it aside stubbornly. Her sister had been paying so much, this money would go a long way for her. With this conclusion, she finally turned to face Ethan."After class... The cafeteria..."Before she could even finish, Ethan who had everything plotted out in his mind, quickly refused. "No... I will be busy after class. Why not this evening? Let's say... 6, 7 pm."But seeing Camila react somehow, he

In the Gavins house, Ruby was pacing up and down in her room. After the court was dismissed, Caleb and Black had been moved to the correctional facility where they will have to face their jail term, so she didn't think twice before coming back home. Besides that apartment they had lived in for a few days, she had rented it. So coming back here was the best option.Ever since they got back from the court, something had been bothering her heart, and as it was now late in the night, she became even more scared. Any little sound made her run to the window to check if someone was sneaking into the house."I will come after you, Ruby, and trust me when I say even jail cannot stop me from hurting you."What Black had whispered to her as he was dragged past her this evening had been traumatizing her. She knew how that man can be. He was still under cuffs and being watched when he asked her to contact his men. Those people were still roaming freely, and all it will take is for Black to get a c

Last night, after Ethan and Ruby were arrested by the police that was led by junior Tank, they were immediately locked up in the cell until early this morning when they were taken to court.Since the news was everywhere and a lot of people were now interested in the case, including the government, time wasn't even spent at the court. The sentence was read out in less than two minutes after the court was seated."Ethan Gavins, you have been found guilty of rape, which you have constantly denied. As such, you will spend thirty years in prison instead of the twenty-five years for forced penetration."Ethan's face was bowed as he swallowed so hard that his throat hurt, as though a fish bone was hanging right there in his throat, scraping him from the inside. The judge proceeded immediately "Ruby Gavins, for aiding and abetting your husband's and son's crimes, you have been sentenced to five years in prison."He looked up to simply glance his eyes around the mother and son seated on the su

Master Feng's smirk faltered. His eyes darted to the papers from the folder that had scattered across the table then back to Edward's face. He was still trying to understand Edward's boldness, this newfound audacity that seemed to have evolved from thin air. How had he gotten his hands on this information? The worst of it all, no one had ever said this to him before. He thought his brother Zhenyu Junior was the only one who knew that particular secret, and since his brother was dead, he had believed that little secret had died with him. But now, with Edward somehow obtaining such sensitive information, Feng realized he had once again underestimated the young man. Even with the Gavins case that had been ongoing, Edward hadn't folded his arms concerning Master Feng. Though the old man had been quiet lately, Edward knew there was no way he was giving up so soon. The silence was definitely only the calm before a storm. Edward didn't wait before continuing. His voice came out calm
