CHAPTER FORTY-ONEEveryone looked at Sharon’s fingers, and even though they could see other expensive rings on some of them, they still believed what Fabian said.“Yes, he is right.” Sharon nodded, turning to Elias with so much anger in her voice. For some reason, she seemed to be more eager to see Elias disgraced out of the hall.“He stole my ring! My expensive ring!” She cried, drawing the attention of the guests who instantly began to murmur, demanding justice for her.The noise became louder, clamoring for Elias’s immediate arrest.“Grab him! Lock him up!”“Don’t let him escape! He is a criminal!”The yells were beginning to get louder, mounting intense pressure on the Police Chief.Even his wife seemed to be eager for him to have Elias arrested.“What are you waiting for?! Lock him up!” She yelled, pointing at Elias with anger in her eyes.Throughout his years of service, Finn had been an upright man, and he was not about to make a mistake by letting the guests talk him into arr

CHAPTER FORTY-TWO Everyone nodded in agreement to what the Chief of police said, and then Fabian stood out to say something. He cleared his throat, taking a deep breath.“I have something to say.” He lifted his hand to get the attention of the Police Chief who nodded slowly. “I think he could have hidden the ring somewhere. I am not certain that we are going to find anything on him. He is a smart criminal, and he will know that we will search him.” Elias scoffed, turning to Fabian with a smirk. “Your time is slowly drawing near.” “Time for what?” He asked, clearly not being able to understand what Elias meant.“Do you mean time for me to deal with you and make you pay for stealing Elena from me?” Fabian said with a whisper, drawing closer to Elias while he glared at him.“No one steals a woman from a man, Fabian. If she was yours, she wouldn’t have agreed to marry me the same day she was meant to get married to you.” Fabian grunted, clenching his fists tightly. But he couldn’t r

CHAPTER FORTY-THREEFinn was moved to react, but the urge to see what was going to be the outcome made him remain standing. He took a deep breath, ignoring the looks he got from the guests, urging him to act at once. His wife was furious, but he didn’t care about her reaction. He kept his eyes on Sharon, waiting silently to hear what she was about to say.Elias urged, “Go ahead. Don’t waste my time.” His voice was still low and imperative, his eyes fiery and glaring at her.Sharon took a deep breath, and with her entire body gripped by apprehension, she turned to the crowd. It was shameful enough that she had been brought to her knees, but the thought of having to be called a liar was going to be a deal breaker for her.“I lied.” She said, and those who heard her gasped.Elias scoffed. “I don’t think that was loud enough for them to hear. You can do better.” He said, taking a deep breath.Sharon gulped hard for the umpteenth time, and then she turned to the crowd who still had their e

CHAPTER FORTY-FOURElena had so many things to say, but she couldn’t because the event had kicked off, and it was going to be very difficult for her to say anything that could be heard.Elias on the other hand seemed to be so engrossed in the event, laughing when he was amused, and clapping when he needed to.This continued for more than two hours, until eventually, the event came to an end.It was time for them to leave, and Elena couldn’t wait for him.She left the hotel in a hurry, and sat in the car, waiting for Elias to be done with Doris who had come to show her gratitude again.Eventually, he was done, and then he returned to the car to see her moody and looking the other way.“Are you not going to speak to me?” He asked, but Elena said nothing.Elias wanted to press further, but the presence of the driver made him choose silence. He turned to him, and with a wave of his hand, he instructed him to drive. The driver didn’t waste any time. He turned on the ignition and drove to t

CHAPTER FORTY-FIVEElias’s brows furrowed, and his lips parted without him being able to say a word.Tony had a look that expressed nothing else but honesty, making it very hard for Elias to think that he was lying for any reason.“What did you just say?” Elias finally found his words, staring with wide eyes.Tony was too sad to repeat himself, looking away like he was too ashamed to admit to what he said earlier.“She is your mother?” Elias scoffed, shaking his head with a wry smile. The inclination to ask the many questions that roamed inside his head was intact, but he chose not to crash the poor boy who already looked so broken with so many questions. At that moment, the silence that seemed to be hovering in the air engulfed them, making it very difficult for any of them to speak. But Elias knew that he gad to say something. After all, the poor boy had come running to him for help.“I can’t believe this.” He muttered, and then he scoffed again.Tony heard the sound he made, but be

CHAPTER FORTY-SEVENElias couldn’t ignore what the young lady said.He turned to her, and with a broad smile, he asked, “Leo is here?”The lady looked at him, chewing nosily on her gum. Her eyes still admired him, but they were very wary of him this time around.“Yes. Why? Would you love to meet him?” She asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. But to her surprise, Elias nodded, prompting her to turn to Regina.“Do you know who this man is?” She asked, and Regina shook her head reluctantly.“He says his name is Johnny.”“John.” Elias corrected at once, but Regina waved him off.“I would love to see Leo.” He turned to Aria, leaning closer to her.She looked at him, her eyes moving from his head down to his shoes. She had mixed feelings inside her mind, unable to make up her mind. Then she took a deep breath, holding onto the tray carefully.“Why do you want to meet Leo? No one sees him unless he wants to be seen.”“Well…” Elias cleared his throat, attempting to find the perfect reason

Elias obeyed. He was determined to get what he wanted, and tolerating the girl’s behaviour didn’t seem like something he was going to be able to do to get what he wanted.“I think I have an idea.” Millie finally broke her silence, and her face brightened up slowly.“Let’s hear it.” Elias retorted, drawing closer to her.She took a deep breath, looking him in the eyes.“One of the guards who are allowed to go into the inner chambers is a nitwit. I will distract him while you go in his place. I just need to give you his card, and we will have to do something about your outfit.”Elias looked at his grey suit, wondering what was wrong. “What happened to this? What is wrong with what I am wearing?”Millie grunted, shaking her head with a smirk. “Did you see any of those men putting on a grey suit? Are they all on black? Do you want to look suspicious?”“Oh.” Elias nodded. “I understand.” He took a deep breath, returning his gaze to Millie while he waited for her to say something.“Here is

CHAPTER FORTY-NINE“Let’s go.” Millie handed the card she stole from Carl to Elias, and then she checked him out to be sure that he didn’t look suspicious. While they moved toward the stairs, in the back, Elias was forced to endure the sweaty smell from the black jacket. He couldn’t complain; he just twisted his nose whenever the smell of him was so hard.He maintained eye contact with all the guards who stared at him.Even though there were over thirty guards all over the building, they seemed to be aware that his face didn’t look familiar.Millie, on the other hand, was so nervous that she almost tripped and fell, taking a deep breath each chance she got. Finally, they arrived at the main door, and they were stopped by the two huge guards standing next to it.“Have I seen your face before?” One of the guards asked, staring at Elias, who nodded.“I am new, but I have seen you before.” He said calmly, keeping his expression. The guard turned to his partner, and they both returned thei

CHAPTER FIFTYThe middle-aged man had long hair, and apart from the fact that he was well-built, he looked very rich; the golden and diamond rings on his fingers were enough evidence.Millie became very nervous the moment Leo took his seat among the other men, and worst still, he pointed to her.“You! Come!” He commanded, and she dared not waste his time.As she staggered toward him, Millie turned to look at Elias, who still had his eyes on the man he had been looking for.The rest of the men seated at the table seemed to be very nervous at the presence of Leo.Three of them were way older than him, but that didn’t matter to them at that moment. All that mattered was what they had come to do, and if they were going to be leaving that room alive. The latter depended on Leo’s mood, hence their silence, and the intention to speak only when they are asked to.Leo spanked Millie so hard on her backside, but she dared not react. She forced a smile, shaking while he pulled her closer, lettin
