"Your fiancée is in the study with your father," Mia said softly."Isabella is in the study with my father?" Mattimeo's eyes lit up.It had been more than two years since he had last seen her. The memories they shared still felt as vivid as yesterday."That's good news. I almost thought something bad had happened. I'll go see her now."He immediately quickened his pace."Wait, Young Master! There's something you need to hear first!" Mia called as she hurried after him."When did he become so fast?" she muttered under her breath. As Mattimeo neared the study, he slowed down.Charging in recklessly would be disrespectful. He approached quietly. The study door was already open.Voices drifted from inside. His father's voice.Isabella's voice. Then the words he heard made him freeze.Roland looked at the young woman seated before him."Your teacher has already spoken to me, but I want to hear it from you directly. Why don't you want to marry my son?"Isabella lowered her gaze for a moment

Edward paused and looked at Alfred."What good news?"Alfred stepped forward."Mattimeo lost his memory of what happened in the dungeon. He only remembers waking up. He doesn't know how he ended up there."Edward frowned."That's unbelievable. How can he suddenly forget?""Trauma," Alfred replied."His father said that whenever Mattimeo tries to remember what happened, he becomes terrified and immediately blanks out. Because of that, Roland warned everyone never to ask him about the incident again.""Are you sure Roland isn't making this up?" Edward asked worriedly."I doubt it. If he knew the truth, he would have used the opportunity to deal with you. Do you really think he'd let such a chance slip away? There's nothing to gain from hiding it."Edward fell silent for a moment before nodding."You're right. Now that I think about it, they gain absolutely nothing by hiding the truth." A smile spread across his face. "That's great. My son won't have to leave the family after all."He la

Mattimeo was angry with himself. He understood that the strange changes in his body had probably driven his actions, but he should at least have been able to control himself to some extent. With his body still aching, he could only drag himself to the washroom. After washing up, he put on the robe Mia had already prepared for him and stepped out into the courtyard. The cool air brushed against his skin as he slowly walked among the flowers, taking in their colors and fragrance. Then he noticed a figure approaching from his left. His heart instantly went cold.Even now, he still couldn't fully believe what had happened between them. She stopped beside him. Neither of them spoke for a while. The silence stretched between them as they stood surrounded by blooming flowers. Finally, she broke it."You were quick to agree to ending the engagement. Were you only pretending to like me that much?" she asked playfully, a small smile resting on her lips."No." He shook his head. "I just think it

Roland motioned, and a servant stepped forward carrying a parchment."Give it to her to sign first. Since she's the one who called for the breakup," Roland said.Signing it first carried significance. The servant placed the parchment on the stool before Isabella, and another servant brought over an ink pot and quill before stepping away.Seated on the mat, Isabella stared at the parchment, her heart pounding heavily in her chest. For several seconds, she remained completely still, doing nothing but looking at it."What's she doing just staring at it? She should sign it already!" her master said anxiously. Was she having a change of heart? At last, Isabella stretched out her hand and picked up the quill. Dipping it into the ink, she signed the parchment with hurried strokes, as though she feared that even a few more seconds of hesitation might make her change her mind. The servants stepped forward once more and carried the parchment over to Mattimeo.Isabella's gaze immediately shifted

Mattimeo woke up early the next day. Quietly slipping out of bed, he headed to the washroom to prepare the bathtub. It wouldn't be proper to wake Mia at this hour.He filled the tub with water, only to discover it was cold. He had no idea how she normally heated it, so after staring at it for a moment, he simply poured in the fragrant soap and took his bath.Afterward, he dressed in a red robe and stepped out of his courtyard. He headed straight for the Scripture Pavilion.Along the way, he encountered several family members who were also early risers. Their eyes followed him as he passed, curiosity evident on their faces as they wondered why he was awake so early.Suddenly, someone stepped in front of him and blocked his path.Mattimeo looked up calmly and raised an eyebrow."What's with that look? I think you've forgotten your place, Matt."Mattimeo's gaze turned cold."Get out."He spoke only two words. The young man blocking his path suddenly stumbled backward, terror flashing acr

Immediately, Mattimeo picked up other books, and the same thing happened. An idea instantly sprang into his mind. That day, a new nuisance was born. The famous cripple was suddenly discovered doing nothing more than wandering through the entire Scripture Pavilion, flipping through books at incredible speed, returning them to their shelves without reading them, and moving on to the next. The junior clan members watched him with a mixture of ridicule and contempt."He's gone mad.""Does he think he can do anything he wants just because his father is the Clan Leader and a Duke?""Leave him. Let him look through as many books as he wants. It will never change the fact that he's a cripple."Everyone discussed him in hushed voices. But none of them dared do anything because Omar sat not far away, quietly reading a book. The old man might have looked as though he wasn't paying attention, but everyone knew better. If any of them caused trouble or stepped beyond their limits, he would appear i

"Thank goodness. I'm starving like mad," Mattimeo said the moment he saw her carrying the tray. She set it down on a small table beside him."I'm curious, Young Master. Why did you do that at the library?" she asked."You wouldn't understand even if I explained. Just know that I did it for a good reason."*******The next day, Mattimeo got up early. After writing a letter, he slipped it beneath his bed. Then he reached underneath and pulled out several pouches filled with low-level spirit stones he had been saving over the years. He packed them into a backpack before stepping outside. It was still early morning, and only a few people were out and about."Young Master, where are you going?"The guards at the gate were different from the ones he had met the other day."I want to go to the mountains. Is there a problem?"The guards exchanged glances before shaking their heads."None at all. It's just that it's still very early."This wasn't the first time Mattimeo had gone to the mountai

"What do you want with me?" he asked cautiously."The thing is, I need to leave here as soon as possible, and I've lost all my money gambling.""You gamble?""Yes, and I steal too.""Then go steal some more," he retorted."I'll keep that in mind. But right now, I don't see any reason to when I can get what I need from you. You must be here to buy a weapon, right? Pick anything you want and leave without your bag. You can choose to resist, and I'll tie you up, take your money, and leave you here. When they come, they'll find you.""Who will find me?" he asked, confused."You don't need to know. Make up your mind first. You have only ten seconds. One, two..."Mattimeo frowned as he weighed his options. The man was several times stronger than him. The gap between them was enormous."Alright, I'll pick a weapon and leave," he said when the man reached the ninth count."Good choice. I don't really want to implicate you. Now go ahead and pick something from the shop. Then you can disappear.

Mattimeo walked out of the store and put some distance between himself and the entrance.“What do you want, son?” a man selling artifacts asked as he gathered a few of his wares and held them up for display.Mattimeo remembered passing the man when he had been dragged away. The man had been looking in their direction, yet somehow, he had not been looking at him.“Sir, did you see when that man over there dragged me into his shop?” he asked curiously.“Which man? You mean that shifty-eyed fellow? I haven’t seen him for days now. Besides, this is the first time I’m seeing you,” the man replied, looking confused.Mattimeo swallowed. His suspicion had been right. No one had noticed what happened, even though it had taken place in broad daylight. The realization filled him with terror toward the shifty-eyed old man.“I hope he wasn’t offended by how I acted back there and decides to take revenge,” he muttered to himself, completely forgetting that the man had stolen all of his savings, the

Josh was knocked to the ground by the force of the heavy boot, which he was certain was some kind of artifact or weapon. His head throbbed, and everything around him felt unusually heavy.A smile spread across Darius's face as his men seized Josh and pinned him in place."I know you very well, Josh, and I know how deceptive you can be, so I came fully prepared. Stop struggling. I brought the finest men under my command. There's no way you're escaping.""Don't worry. I'm not going to struggle anymore. I know my limits." Josh smirked."What do you want?" he asked."That's a very stupid question. As if you don't already know. Stop pretending. We know you're the one who secretly entered our dungeon and stole everything inside it," the commander said coldly."Your dungeon? That's a newly discovered, unexplored dungeon. While all of you were wasting time trying to figure it out, I found a way in and accessed it first." He shrugged, making no attempt to deny it."Shut up! It's clearly a rest
