CHAPTER ELEVEN Everyone drank and ate to their fill as some went home early, and the rest that was remaining stayed to have some fun conversation and help out with cleaning, as it would seem a bit difficult for Heather, as she was ill and Patrick hadn't recovered fully. With most of everyone gone, Jarden walked up to Patrick for a bit of a conversation and then asked him, “What would you do once you recover?” “With my mana core activated, I need to go to the Tamer Council and have some reevaluation done, and then I can know the next step from there. If I could get my rank leveled up, then I could raid dungeons like you guys and make more money for Heather’s medical bills,” Patrick said as they sat outside the corridor leading into the house. After much discussion with Patrick, Jarden bid them goodnight and went home with his wife, as Patrick and his sister went to bed to rest because it was a long night they had had.Patrick got up early and began cooking Emperor breakfast for his

CHAPTER TWELVEThat was why the corruption rate of the town was climbing at an alarming rate, because the dungeons were a source of wealth, especially the higher-ranked dungeons. Some nobles loved monopoly and wanted to take most of the dungeon to themselves, and they were aided by the likes of Ivan and his cliques. It troubled the Tamer Council master, but there was nothing he could do about it, so he once had a secret meeting with Jarden and some B-rankedTamers to create a vigilante group. The creation was a success, but there were difficulties in the investigation of the group.Inside the Tamer Council master's office, Patrick sat down facing Xerxes as the receptionist who attended to the Tamer Council master's office for that day poured out tea for them to drink as they discussed. “I heard from Jarden that you were the one who saved them during his last dungeon raid,” Xerxes said as he took a sip of his tea. Patrick was a bit nervous as he looked at Xerxes and replied, “I wouldn

CHAPTER THIRTEEN “That was a close one,” one of the tankers said as he sat down on the floor and let out a heavy sigh. The rest of the party relaxed to the ground also, as Jarden was about to give an order for a rest since the fight drained them that much they heard a screech from inside the dungeon. Vera and Jarden were gripped with fear as they both looked at each other and then Jarden yelled, “Fall back, fall back to the safe zone!” “What's gotten into you? That sound wouldn't come from a beast that is more than rank B,” one of the mages said as they all got up and drank their bottle of potions to regain mana for another fight. “This is different, this isn't the sound of a B-ranked monster. This was like that time,” Jarden replied as he kept ordering them to fall back, but they were all surprised because people never saw Jarden panic in a dungeon raid. Vera said, “We should listen to the leader of the raid.”Then a tanker in the group looked towards the direction of Patrick an

CHAPTER FOURTEENPatrick and Heather got to the Tamer Council entrance, which was already crowded with the families of the party raiders because they needed to know the whereabouts of their loved ones. The second day of the raid was already ending. The joy of everyone knew no bounds as they saw their loved ones coming in from afar; they all ran to their loved ones and welcomed them. The Tamer Council master was already outside waiting for the group leader when he saw Patrick and Heather walked up to the entrance. He stopped them and asked, “Is Jarden with you?”They answered with a nod as they walked into the Tamer Council building, straight to the counter, and got their payment for the raid. “Jarden, what happened in the dungeon?” Xerxes asked as he saw Jarden coming towards the Tamer Council, with a sad look on his face Jarden bent his head to the ground while saying it and replied, “We could have all died if it wasn't for Patrick.” “What do you mean by what you're saying? Did P

CHAPTER FIFTEEN As they came out of the clinic, Heather gave out a loud sigh as she said, “That took forever. I hate going there because it's not who I am.” “But you need to receive treatments, and it's also important that you receive them without missing any appointments,” Patrick said as they walked down the street. He looked towards the road of the market plaza and then asked Heather, “Are you up for some shopping?”With a happy squeal, she pulled him towards the direction of the market plaza. As they got into the plaza, Heather ran to the dress section and the jewelry section one after the other as she kept bouncing like a newly bought ball that was fully pumped. She kept pointing at different necklaces while Patrick kept telling her to choose one. The smile on her face made Patrick happy, and he thought of the powers he got from the system and how it had the power to take care of his sister. Then he called out, “Are you there?”But no response, so he called again, “Dara, yo

CHAPTER SIXTEENAs the carriage got to the area where the dungeon was situated, the atmosphere got foggy, and the chirps of birds stopped; the lively forest went to rest as the whole area got eerie. Everyone knew that this was not just any dungeon, even if it was called a C-ranked dungeon; they all knew that this dungeon was bad news. “Prepare your gear for battles,” Jarden said as they were getting close to the dungeon. The closer they got, the scarier and darker the surroundings got. The horses got to a certain point, which they refused to move any further, so they had to drop and continue by foot; as they dropped down, Jarden ordered that they should fall into formation. The party got into their fighting formation as they walked closer to the dungeon with caution. At the entrance of the dungeon, a roar, which turned into a screech, was heard from inside. This sentence chills down their spines, but they have no other option but to go in and clear the dungeon. Jarden stopped them an

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN “Get your stupid head in the game; our lives depend on it. Fight for your sister.” On hearing the words of Jarden, Patrick felt a sense of guilt and rage swelling up inside of him as he whispered to the system, “Dara, I need your strength; give me the power to see my sister one more time.” “Confirmed,” Dara said as Patrick looked up; his facial expression had already changed from fear and regret to anger and composure. He placed his hands on Jarden, looked behind, and signaled for healers, then took some steps forward. He unsheathed his sword, and as he dashed in, it was as if he vanished. Next, he was seen close to the head of the manticore; he went in for a strike, but the manticore deflected with its hand and then attacked him with its stinger, which he dodged by jumping out of the way. “Take everyone to safety; I'll buy you some time,” Patrick said as he charged in again, this time towards the Chimera. This made the two beasts focus on him as he kept fighti

CHAPTER EIGHTEENWeapons clashed as the battle between Patrick and Ivan went on for more than thirty minutes; both men were on the offensive as they kept looking for an opening to deal a fatal blow to one another, but all to no avail. Jarden, on the other hand, was shocked at how Ivan could keep up with the pace of Patrick, who was said to be an S-ranked; all he could see were flashes and blurry movements. He came to the conclusion that he couldn't follow their movements, and he would only drag Patrick down if he decided to help, so he began putting effort into gathering the remaining survivors of the incident, and the remaining tankers kept their shields activated as the surviving healers tried to heal the injured. Vera, who survived with some minor injuries because she was close to Jarden during the fall, had already taken potions that healed her completely, and after that, she began healing all the available injuries, starting with the critically injured. Jarden took the less busy

CHAPTER NINETEEN “Great way of saying to hurry up or die, Dara,” Patrick said as he charged towards Ivan, who was already turning into a beast-like human. He took out his right hand and legs, but before he could go in for another attack, they were already regenerated. Patrick went in again to deal more damage, but Ivan kept regenerating; for the fifth attack Patrick went in for, Ivan used his claw-like hand and hit him to the ground, picked him up, and threw him across the chamber, but that wasn't the end. Patrick got up and held his sword up, then the cloak of flames formed Phoenix wings behind him, and then he charged in. He kept dealing damage as Ivan regenerated, but the regeneration was getting slower over time because the Phoenix flames could burn anything down; this kept going as Patrick didn't want to back out in dealing the damage, and Ivan was already at the brink of death. With the last strike, Patrick looked him in the eyes and said, “This place will be your grave.”He s

CHAPTER TWENTYAfter five days in the clinic, Patrick was discharged but was told to continue his visits to the clinic for check-ups. This was to keep his mana core in check, especially after a dungeon raid. Heather was happy that her brother was coming out of the clinic, and she could give him the surprise that she had for him; they went for a little walk around the town square, and then they went to a restaurant to have a meal. They also headed to the Tamer Council association to claim his share of the raid price, but they were summoned by the Tamer Council master on sight. At the Tamer Council master's office, Xerxes was seated at his table while Heather and Patrick stood at the front of the table. He looked at them and said, “Patrick, I take that you’ve recovered from the battle you had in the dungeon, so I'll cut right to the chase. You're being summoned by the Emperor.” “News of the dungeon raid and the dungeon mishaps had gotten to the council of the Emperor, and the Empero
