CHAPTER 11
The silence in the hall stretched long and thin, every person standing exactly where they were, staring at the two men crumpled on the floor and the one still standing in the center of it all. Ethan hadn't moved since the second guard dropped. He stood with his hands at his sides, his torn shirt hanging loose, the bruises on his face dark against his skin. He looked like he'd been pulled out of a wreck. But the way he stood, the way he held himself, didn't match the damage. There was no exhaustion in his posture. No strain. He looked like a man who had just finished something easy. The whispers started again, low and hesitant. “Did he just—” “Two professionals. He put down two professionals like they were nothing.” “What was that? What did he do to them?” “One finger. Did you see that? He used one finger.” “That's not possible. That doesn't—” “He didn't even try. It was like swatting flies.” A woman near the back pressed both hands to her chest. “This isn't the Ethan we know.
Chapter 12
Immediately Victoria's face went red. “You're disappointed in me?” Her voice climbed higher, shaking slightly at the edges. “For what, exactly? I'm sticking my neck out for you right now. I'm trying to give you a way out of this before it gets worse, and you're standing there telling me you're disappointed?” She stepped closer, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. “What the hell are you even talking about?” Ethan looked at her without blinking. “Yes,” he said. “I'm disappointed in you. 100%.” “You—” “I told you Daniel tried to kill me.” His voice stayed level, calm, the kind of calm that made every word land harder. “I told you he sent men after me, and burned down my family's restaurant.” He paused. “You know how much that place means to me. Seventeen generations, Victoria. My entire family's history. And Daniel tried to burn it to the ground with me inside it.” At that moment Victoria's mouth opened but nothing came out. “And you're standing here,” Ethan contin
Chapter 13
Immediately Victoria's voice came out fast, trembling at the edges. “I'll talk to Grandfather. I'll explain everything to him. You don't have to worry about anything. I'll handle it.”She took another step toward him, her eyes searching his face. “You know Grandfather has a soft spot for you. He's always had one. He'll listen. He'll understand. Just—please, Ethan. Let this go.”Ethan's jaw tightened.“It was because of Grandfather,” he said, his voice low and deliberate, “that I kept quiet all this time. It was out of respect for him that I swallowed every insult. Every word. Every look.”His eyes moved to Daniel, still slumped and barely conscious against the far wall. “But Daniel tried to kill me. He sent six men to break my body and burn down the one thing I have left of my family. And you expect me to just fold my hands and do nothing?”His gaze returned to Victoria.“Never.”Richard's voice tore through the room like a whip. “Why are you even begging this bastard?”Victoria f

The room went completely silent. The guard dropped to his knees, cradling his ruined hand against his chest. “My hand,” he sobbed, his voice high and broken. “My hand, my hand, what the hell—”At that moment the other guards stared. They could all see it. His knuckles had collapsed completely, the bones visible beneath the skin at unnatural angles. His fingers hung limp, twisted, useless. It looked like his hand had been put through a machine. He was still crying, tears streaming down his face, when Ethan moved. And in pain the guard manage to stand up, but the pain was too much he couldn't move a finger. It wasn't a punch this time.Just a slap, It was a Light. The impact sent the guard spinning through the air. His body twisted once, twice, three full rotations before he hit the floor hard and went completely still.Ethan looked at the remaining guards. “Are you going to stand there,” he said quietly, “or are you going to do your job?”The guards looked at each other.Their faces w

The third slap rang out sharp and clear, the sound cutting through the shocked silence of the hall like a whip crack.Ethan's head turned slightly with the force of it, a red mark blooming across his cheek. Then slowly, deliberately, he brought his face back to center and looked at Victoria without a flicker of emotion crossing his features.Again he said nothing. The whispers erupted immediately, spreading through the crowd like wildfire.“Even if she slapped him a hundred times, that doesn't justify any of this.”“How dare he do this to Daniel? How dare he?”“Daniel's practically dying and this man is just standing there like nothing happened.”“Slapping him doesn't mean anything. It doesn't erase what he's done.”“The family will deal with him. They have to.”“He's crossed a line no one can come back from.”A woman near the back pressed her hand to her chest, shaking her head slowly. “He's finished. Absolutely finished.”“He put Daniel on the brink of death. His own wife's cousin.”
Chapter 16
Richard collapsed onto his knees, his body slamming into the floor with a sickening crack. And then he coughed.Blood sprayed from his mouth, dark and thick, splattering across the polished floor in front of him.The entire room recoiled.Gasps erupted from every corner. Hands flew to mouths. People stepped back instinctively, their faces pale with shock.“What—what just happened?”“He's bleeding!”“He can't move. Look at him. He can't even move a finger.”“This isn't possible. This doesn't make sense.”“Ethan was supposed to get destroyed. He was supposed to be taught a lesson.”“But look at him. He's just standing there.”“And Richard's on his knees.”Richard's whole body was trembling violently now, every muscle locked tight, his fists still raised uselessly in front of him. His eyes were wide, staring straight ahead, filled with confusion and rising terror. He tried to move. His jaw clenched. His shoulders strained. The veins in his neck stood out like cords as he fought against w
Chapter 17
Ethan turned toward the door. The entire family stood frozen, watching him, their faces twisted with a mixture of disgust, fear, and barely contained rage.No one moved, no one spoke. The whispers started low, hissing through the crowd like steam escaping from a pressure valve.“Are we just going to let him walk out of here?”“Are we really going to stand here and do nothing?”“This bastard just assaulted two members of our family and we're supposed to let him go?”“What the hell is happening?”“Someone needs to do something.”“But what? Did you see what he did to Richard?”“Richard's a black belt. A trained fighter. And he couldn't even move.”“He put him on his knees with a single word.”“This doesn't make sense. None of this makes sense.”An older man near the back, his face flushed red with anger, clenched his fists at his sides. “We can't just let him leave. We can't.”But still, no one moved. The fear was palpable. Everyone had seen what happened to Daniel. Everyone had watched
Chapter 18
Ethan turned and walked toward the exit. The entire family stood frozen in place, their faces twisted with fury, their bodies rigid with barely restrained rage. Some of them wanted to move. Wanted to rush forward, to stop him, to grab him and make him pay for what he'd done. But they couldn't.The fear was too strong. The memory of what had just happened of Daniel lying broken and bloody, of the guards crumpled on the floor, of Richard collapsing without even being touched was too fresh, too vivid.Whatever Ethan had become, he was no longer the man they thought they knew.He was something else now. Something dangerous. Something they didn't understand. And that terrified them more than their anger could overcome. So they stood there, watching him leave, their fists clenched, their jaws tight, their eyes burning with helpless rage.Ethan's footsteps echoed through the silent hall, steady and unhurried, until he reached the door and pushed it open. Then he was gone. The moment the door
Chapter 19
Victoria stood frozen for a moment, her chest rising and falling rapidly, her mind struggling to process everything that had just happened. Then her voice cut through the chaos, sharp and urgent. "My uncle and Daniel need to be taken to the hospital. Now. They need immediate care."Several family members were already moving, some rushing toward Richard's body, others carefully lifting Daniel from where he sat slumped against the wall. The doctor was barking orders, his hands moving quickly, his face tight with concentration. But Victoria barely registered any of it.Her mind was still on Ethan. On what he had done. On what he had become. On the fact that he had just walked out of that house as if none of it mattered, as if he hadn't just destroyed everything. She couldn't understand it. Couldn't comprehend how he could stoop so low, how he could throw his life away like this, how he could be so reckless, so stupid, so—She turned sharply and ran toward the door. Her footsteps were fas
Chapter 20
Ethan heard Victoria's words, her voice sharp and threatening, cutting through the night air like a blade. He stopped walking for a moment, then cleared his throat quietly."You shouldn't worry yourself about that," he said, his voice calm, measured. "I wouldn't even consider begging. I wouldn't even consider coming back."He turned slightly, just enough to glance at her over his shoulder. "Coming back to what? To bondage? To a place where I was never even seen in the first place? Coming back to where, exactly?"His eyes held hers for a brief moment. "Stop thinking so highly of yourself and come down from your high horse. Because you're not going to see me here again."He paused, his jaw tightening slightly. "And this should be your last warning to your family as well. Tell them to stay away from anything that has to do with me. If they come back for revenge, tell them I'm going to give them theirs too. Whoever they throw my way, I'll handle it. So tell them that."Then he turned and
