The morning sun broke through the dense alpine overcast as the black Range Rover accelerated onto the A4 highway toward Zurich. In the rear passenger seat, Ethan sat in absolute silence, his right arm bound tightly in a tactical compression bandage where the high-voltage arc from the relay terminal had scorched his forearm. On his lap rested the silver master quantum drive, its blue status LED pulsing in a steady, calm rhythm that starkly contrasted with the tension inside the cabin."We have less than nine hours on Archon’s ultimatum," Daniel said from the front passenger seat, keeping his eyes glued to a encrypted thermal scanner monitoring traffic patterns behind them. "If we walk into that Zurich facility on their terms, we're stepping directly into a kill box.""It isn't a facility," Dr. Lind said, her laptop open on her knees as she analyzed the satellite signal trace from the bunker monitor. "I managed to isolate the IP relay from the video feed before the server collapsed. The

"Brace! Out the back!" Ethan screamed, his voice cracking over the deafening roar of the locomotive’s diesel engine. He grabbed Dr. Lind by the shoulder, shoving her through the open rear cab door into the first coupled timber car. Daniel and Brandon followed instantly, hauling Evelyn’s transport stretcher across the iron coupling platform as the whistle of the incoming missile descended into a piercing, metallic shriek."Jump!" Ethan roared. The guided thermobaric missile struck the switcher’s forward engine block directly over the front axle.A blinding sun-burst of orange flame erupted, the concussive shockwave instantly vaporizing the locomotive's cab and blowing the heavy timber car backward off the rails. The violent deceleration snapped the heavy iron hitch pin like a dry twig. The burning sixty-ton engine careened off the trestle bridge, plunging three hundred feet into the frozen abyss of the Sagne Gorge, while the momentum of the detached timber car sent it crashing sideways

The torrential rain off the Normandy coast battered the windscreen of the unmarked Peugeot panel van as Ethan slammed the gearstick into fourth, tearing through the narrow, slick backroads west of Rouen.Beside him in the passenger seat, Brandon held a passive radio scanner balanced on his knees, his face illuminated by the harsh blue backlight of the digital interface. The signal meter bounced in rapid, erratic spikes."They've set up secondary vehicle checkpoints along the N13 highway," Brandon reported over the roar of the diesel engine. "French maritime gendarmerie on paper, but the tactical comms headers are using Archon’s proprietary encryption protocols. They’re running license plate recognition cameras on every primary approach to Le Havre.""Then we stick to the industrial bypass," Ethan said, eyes locked on the narrow strip of asphalt winding through cold, foggy farmland. "How much time on the Valkyrie?""Captain O’Malley’s chief mate logged their final cargo manifest twenty

The Ford F-250’s heavy V8 engine roared as Ethan shoved the four-wheel-drive transfer case into high gear, plowing through a two-foot snowdrift on an unpaved logging trail near Stanstead.Freezing drizzle whipped against the windshield, turning to a sheet of clear ice the moment it hit the glass. Across the border line, the dense pine forests of Northern Vermont stretched out in pitch-black silence, broken only by the dim red glow of the truck’s dashboard."Vanguard has two secondary roadblocks set up on Interstate 91 near Derby Line," Brandon reported, tracking Archon's tactical radio frequencies on his laptop screen. "They're listening for heavy transport. They don't know we're on the logging spur."Ethan didn't answer. He cut the truck's headlights, pulling down his night-vision optics as the green-hued world of the snow-covered forest came into sharp focus. He guided the heavy pickup across the unmonitored border cut, the tires crunching over frozen mud and fallen branches until t

The Passumpsic River valley was dead.No streetlamps lined Route 5. No amber window lights glinted from the distant farmsteads. The complete regional power failure had plunged the Vermont wilderness into an absolute, suffocating darkness, broken only by the howling freezing rain that whipped through the bare pine branches.Ethan and Brandon crouched near the mouth of the limestone cavern, their eyes locked on the storm above."Two aircraft," Brandon whispered, wiping freezing water from his eyelashes as he listened to the low, rhythmic thump-thump-thump of turbine blades slicing through the icy air. "Vanguard MH-6 Little Birds. They’re running blacked-out, flying low over the riverbed."Suddenly, a brilliant cone of white light cut through the sleet—an infrared searchlight sweeping across the gravel bank where they had emerged minutes earlier."They're scanning for thermal signatures," Ethan muttered, feeling the freezing dampness of his soaked tactical vest. "At thirty degrees ambien
