CHAPTER 121
“You wouldn't walk out on me!” Lauren kicked the door open, storming into the room behind Brandon who cracked the wall with his fist. Then he took his hands to his hair, messing it up.Lauren grabbed him by the arm, pulling him closer to herself. “Who are you going to blame?”Brandon turned to her, unable to answer. Yet, one thing was still present. His rage.“You can't blame her,” Lauren shrugged. “You can't blame me either, and the same thing goes for William.”“He didn't cast some sort of spell on Freya that made her pick him.”The silence stretched for a moment. On one side of the room, Brandon kept pacing around with his hands resting on his waist, while Lauren leaned against a wall in the corner of the room, with her arms folded across her chest.“Ashford killed him,” Brandon began, rubbing a hand around his mouth. “And now, he wants to break me.”“Where did I go wrong?”For a heartbeat, Lauren looked at him with pity, the same way she looked at him six years ago, when he was
CHAPTER 122
“Joshua!”“Joshua!”“Joshua, wake up!”A loud gasp filled the air, and immediately he saw a glimpse of light, Joshua sat up, taking in deep breaths and letting it out. It was as though he was trying to do both simultaneously.“Where am I…” he winced when he felt a sharp pain by the side of his stomach, forcing him to tilt his head in that direction. “Tough luck.”He let out a sigh when the memories came flooding in, and he laid back on the couch, staring at Xavier who towered above him with a smile on his face.“You think you can leave this place before me?” Xavier chuckled softly. “You brought me here under false pretense, so you're going to have to stay with all of us until the end.”Kelvin walked into the room, and when his eyes met that of Joshua he let out a sigh of relief. “I need to inform Gina,”he nodded. “I'll be back.”With both of them left in the sitting room, Xavier tapped Joshua on the shoulder lightly. “You were on the verge of leaving for good, I'm not going to lie.”
CHAPTER 123
William let out a groan when he dodged one of the creatures that flew at him. The creatures took the shape of a serpent, except they had wings and four legs. Each leg ended in strong, sharp claws.“If they can trouble us this badly, have you ever thought of how the boss would be?”Freya rolled across the muddy ground when she evaded an attack from one of the creatures. That particular one had been troubling her longer than she could ever imagine.“Their skin is…” William gritted his teeth as he thrust his spear forward, watching it come out of the back of the serpentine-like bird. He breathed a sigh of relief. “The skin is fucking tough,” he noticed Freya from a distance, trying to evade continuous attacks from the bird rather than attacking it.William pulled his spear out of the lifeless creature, before rushing towards Freya. “We should be on the attack,” William struck the bird from its blind spot, kicking it off Freya. “Defending means we're going to waste our fucking time, an
CHAPTER 124
A piercing cry filled the air when Freya's spear found its way into the bird's neck, and of course, sending it to its death. Freya wanted to scream so bad when she saw William retreating, panting heavily, and just when she was about to ask him what happened the floor beneath them shook. They were yet to see what was coming their way but they could feel the tension already. Each step the creature took sent shivers down their spine. “Why did they stop attacking us?” Amidst the fear building within him, he tilted his head towards Freya's direction.Freya shrugged, clearly in the same state as him. “I don't know, maybe they know we won't survive whatever is—” her eyes flared when she saw the head of the creature. It was a beastly creature, with three heads sprouting from its shoulders. In the center, it took the head of a lion. Maned and snarling, and on the right it took that of a bird, its beak, convincingly strong and tenacious, even without having to touch it. Then a snake-like he

“It’s more of a warm-up for it!” William winced as the claws of the creature tore his upper arm.Freya remained in her position, clasping her hands behind her back as she watched William get bullied by the creature up ahead.“And why are you not doing anything?!” William yelled, retreating backwards, but the creature charged behind him, covering a long distance in the blink of an eye. Freya shook her head in disappointment, surging into mid air. She quickly pulled out a dagger just as the creature came to a stop.‘Do we have to kill each head?!’ Freya moved her eyes from the serpentine head, then the one in the center, before she finally shifted her gaze to the birdy head. Her best bet was digging the blade in the middle. The bigger target. “Fuck!” Her eyes flared, just as she felt a sizzling pain around her wrist, and in an instant she diverted her gaze. It was the creature. It had wrapped its tail around her wrist.“Get. Off!” She drove her dagger into it. She saw the creature f
CHAPTER 126
As instructed by Ashford, Brandon and Lauren walked back into the throne room, wearing their robes too, even when they had no idea why it was happening.“He doesn't kill people when they're dressed in a robe like that,” Lauren tried to ease the pressure that built within her. She could also feel the tension running through Brandon's body too.The loudness of Brandon's gulp only confirmed what she had been thinking all along. “Lauren,” he called out, just before he shut the huge doors behind him.“Yes?”“Ashford started hunting people one day,” he ran a hand through his hair. “No one knows how long he has had that in mind.”From the way Lauren looked at him, he knew his point was valid. “If I'm right, and we come out alive, then there's something I'd tell you,” she pressed her lips into a thin line. “Just remind me.”Brandon walked further until he got to the front of the stairs again, and Ashford smiled, shortly before he shifted his gaze to Lauren who lowered her head slightly.“S
CHAPTER 128
“I think this is what two weeks of complete hunting does,” Derek's voice echoed through the room as he walked forward. Molly and Lucas also walked beside him with their hands folded at their backs. “Well, maybe that wouldn't have been possible had we not gone under an intense training for a complete week,” the words tumbled out of Lucas' mouth, and he twisted his arm to the side, noticing how bulky it had gotten over the past three weeks.“We just had to do that,” Derek answered, nodding at the three guys who were engaged in a conversation.Molly pivoted to Derek's right, looking him in the eye. “You don't think those guys are plotting their escape right?”“Remind me Molly,” he paused, just before he turned to face her. “Who did we kill?”There was silence between the three of them for a second, just before Lucas broke it. “Their clan leader.”“Exactly!” Derek snapped his fingers. “Even if they go back, they'd be a lone wolf.”“Not just that,” it seemed as though a sudden sense of

Theodore bent his head as he sat on the bed with his hands clasped at his front. He had just woken up from a month-long coma. One after the other, he removed the needles that were inserted into veins around his body.“Fucking hell,” he muttered weakly, and as he tried to get to his feet he staggered back to the bed.“Shit!”The door swung open, forcing him to clutch his chest. Although it was replaced with a sigh a second later. “Oh my gosh, you're awake!” Catherine edged closer, surveying his body, then she stopped at his forehead. “They should remove the bandage the following week.”“Or maybe five days' time,” she added in a soft tone.He ran a hand across the bandage. “It still feels like my head is getting hit against a shitty rock.”“It's a good thing he pitied me,” the pain in Catherine's voice was impossible to miss. For someone who had always wanted to become a stronger version of who she was, she couldn't believe she actually hoped to be spared. “Do you think he was the lea

One month of intense training. One month of smashing through rocks with bare hands. One month of using his fear as fuel.Once again, Joshua had just finished a session, but compared to the previous day his breath was gentle, and he was not struggling to keep his feet either. “Here,” Gina threw a towel his way, taking her focus back to her phone. The last weeks have been all about research. Back-to-back, since her curiosity increased with each day that passed. “You know, it's a good thing I've got Ari by my side,” she hadn't taken her eyes off her phone. “Hmm,” Joshua nodded while wiping the sweat off his face. “You guys are a good team, and I think Alice is really enjoying you guys' company.”“She’s also playing a significant role, so yeah,” Gina shrugged, then she raised her head. “It's a…”Just as the silence befell them Joshua chipped in the missing words. “Girlies thing?”Gina rolled her eyes at him. “Would have given you that, but common, even the youngest is what?”“Twenty-
CHAPTER 131
“Move! Move! Move!” Jasper yelled from the corner of the room as Kelvin and Matthias circled themselves on the sparring mat.Kelvin drew closer with his hands placed at the front of his face, he left his right leg at the back, while moving closer to Matthias with the left. “Duck!” Kelvin swung his right hand towards Matthias, and just as the latter bent down to evade the incoming hand, Kelvin swung the left from below, catching his jaw in the attack.“Clever,” Matthias scoffed while rubbing his chin. “Fucking clever.”He spat the blood out of his mouth, running his tongue over his teeth, luckily for him, they were still intact.Kelvin had moved backward, changing his stance, but he seemed more like one who was seriously going for the attack, rather than defense.‘Watch as I counter your attack with a surprise attack of my own,’ Matthias flashed a grin at Kelvin, and he maintained his position on the mat as he watched Kelvin move forward, every step, deadlier than the previous. The
