Allen walked deeper into the dungeon, his boots echoing against wet stone. The corridor sloped downward, the air growing colder with every step. The walls narrowed, then widened again, opening into a small chamber lit by faint phosphorescent moss that clung to the ceiling like patches of sickly green stars. He stopped to catch his breath. His ribs still ached from the club strike. His shoulder burned where the Duskrat's claws had raked him. Blood had dried on his jacket in stiff brown patches, and his left boot squelched with every step from the wound above his ankle. 'Still alive. That's more than most get.' [Violet: Host's level has increased. The Skill Shop has been updated with new available skills. Would Host like to review the options?] Allen pressed his back against the cool stone. "Show me." A translucent blue panel materialized before his eyes. [Skill Shop — Available Skills]
12 | Dungeon Boss, Goblin Shaman Lv.15
Allen followed the corridor downward, the phosphorescent moss thinning until only scattered patches remained. Night Vision turned the darkness into a canvas of gray shapes and sharp edges. The air grew colder. The stone under his boots was slick with condensation. The passage opened into a chamber three times the size of the last. Stalactites hung from the ceiling like stone teeth, dripping water into a pool of black liquid that dominated the center of the room. The surface was still as glass, reflecting the faint glow of moss. And on the far side, seated on a throne made of bones and rusted armor, was the boss. It was larger than the others. Maybe 140 centimeters, but the difference was in the way it held itself. Straight spine. Calm yellow eyes that tracked the darkness like it knew something was watching. A staff in one hand topped with a crystal that pulsed with orange light, sending faint ripples across the walls with every heartbeat.

13 | Back to Wife
Gray light spat him out into the morning. Allen stumbled through the portal and onto the muddy ground of the clearing. The gate flickered behind him, its edges folding inward like a collapsing wound. Within seconds, the portal shrank to a point and vanished. The dungeon was closed. He stood there, swaying. The sunlight was too bright. The air was too warm. The world smelled like mud and smoke instead of blood and stone. A crowd had gathered at the edge of the clearing. The same desperate men and women from before, clutching rusted weapons. A few hunters who'd arrived too late, still buckling their gear. They stared at him, at the blood drying on his torn jacket, at the knife in his hand. "The gate—" a man started. "Is it closed?" another voice called. "Did you clear it? What happened to the others?" Allen didn't look at them. He started walking. A young hunter stepped into his path. E-rank by the look of him. "Hey. I'm talking to you. What happened in there? Where's the E-ranke

Three days had passed since the F-rank gate.Allen sat on the edge of the bed, Seraphina's hand resting in his. The bowl on the table was empty. He'd fed her slowly, piece by piece, same as every meal since he came home. The Sunlight heat already pressed through the glassless window. Sweat gathered at the back of his neck. Her fingers curled slightly around his palm. Not a grip. But present. Warm. Alive. He ran his thumb across her knuckles. Small bones. Soft skin. Three days ago she could only twitch. Now her fingers moved when he touched them, and sometimes she squeezed back. Not hard or strong enough. But it's real, and that's matter.'Three days. It doesn't feel that long. The hours blur together when every one of them is with her.'He opened the Wife Investment Panel. The blue screen expanded in front of him.[Dominion Points: 617][Investment Log: Recorded][Return Multiplier: 200x - 12,000x][Tyrant Mode: Inact
15 | Shadow Step
The gate spit him into a long hall that smelled of wet fur and cold ash. Allen caught himself on a stone pillar, fingers scraping moss. The room was wider than the F-rank corridors, its ceiling lost in shadow, and the floor was uneven flagstone broken by shallow puddles. Green light bled from the walls, enough to see, not enough to trust. Night Vision pulled the darkness into sharper shapes. The young hunter came through the portal a moment later and almost ran into Allen. The stocky man followed, mace held low, his boots splashing in a puddle. "Smells like a kennel," the stocky man muttered. "Stay close," Allen said. "And keep your mouths shut." Allen pushed off the pillar and scanned the hall. Three shapes waited near a collapsed archway at the far end. Not crouched over a corpse. Not surprised. Just waiting, weapons already angled. Hobgoblins. Tall, lean, with arms too long and shoulders too
16 | Boss of The Den, Alpha Dire Wolf Lv.31
The tunnel did not end. It deepened, and the air changed with every step. Allen kept his left hand against the wall. The stone was no longer wet but cold, dry in a way that felt wrong, as if the moisture had been sucked out of the dungeon long before they entered. His fingers found ridges, cracks, places where the rock had shifted and never settled. The floor was uneven, slabs of stone tilted at small angles, and the boots of the two hunters scraped behind him in irregular rhythm. The light was almost gone. The moss had thinned, then vanished. Only scattered patches of green glow remained, clinging to the ceiling like sick stars. Allen's Night Vision turned the dark into gray shapes, but even that had limits. The tunnel bent twice, then opened into a passage wide enough for them to walk side by side. The smell came first. It was wet fur, thick and animal. Under it, blood. Old blood, dried and sour. And something else. A dry mineral scent, like stone dust after a wall collapses. Al
17 | Her Pride
The portal spat them back into the slum with the taste of wet fur still in Allen's mouth. He stepped through first, boots landing in mud that sucked at his heels. The sky outside had changed while they were inside. Night pressed down, heavy and bruised, the moon light leaking out of the clouds like water from a cracked jar. The air smelled of smoke, rot, and rain that had not yet fallen. Allen filled his lungs and let the dungeon out of him. The young hunter came through behind him and dropped to his knees. The stocky man followed, one arm wrapped in a blood-soaked strip of cloth, his face pale and slick with sweat. The portal behind them collapsed with a sound like tearing silk, and just like that, the gate was gone. The young hunter looked up at Allen. His eyes were wide, glassy, the eyes of someone who had seen too much and felt too little of it yet. "You saved us," he said. "I thought we were dead. That thing, that Boss, it would've killed us. You killed it. You killed all of
18 | Slum Bullies
Allen woke with the first gray light bleeding through the broken window. For a long moment he didn't move. Seraphina's hand was still curled around his fingers, and her breathing came slow and even. The blanket had slipped below her shoulder. He pulled it back over her with his free hand, careful not to wake her, then lay still and listened. The slum was waking outside. Footsteps in mud. A cart rattling past. A woman calling out the price of bread. Ordinary sounds. But under them, something off. A wrongness Allen couldn't name. He slipped out of bed and crossed to the window. The lane was empty except for a thin dog nosing at a pile of refuse. No silhouettes on the rooftops. No shadows where there shouldn't be. But the feeling stayed, a faint itch between his shoulder blades. 'Maybe I'm still jumpy from the dungeon. Or maybe someone's already watching.' He washed his face in cold water and dressed. The Silverhowl lay on the table next to the Alpha Dire Wolf Core, right where he'd
19 | Break-In
Allen lay flat on the roof, Silverhowl in his hand. He had been waiting long enough for the night to settle, and now the three figures had finally come. They moved like men who thought they were clever, keeping to the shadows as if the slum would protect them. From his spot behind the broken chimney, Allen watched them reach the door. Jack, thick and heavy, opening and removing the wedge. The thin one, Luke, kept looking over his shoulder. The older man stood a few steps back, arms crossed, as if he were already counting coins. Jack pushed the door open. Luke slipped inside first, knife out. Jack followed. The older man took one last look at the empty lane, then went in after them and pulled the door shut. 'They're all inside. Good.' Allen waited. He counted ten slow breaths, then slid down from the roof. The mud was soft and cold around his boots. He moved around the side of the house and stopped beside the small window. Just a rough hole in the wall, barely bigger than a man
20 | Bloody Hands, Gentle Touch
The first thing Allen did after the door closed was listen. He stood with his back against the rough wood. Outside, the slum was quiet in the way that only came after violence. No shouts. No running feet. No one banging on a neighbor's door to ask what had happened. The night had swallowed the sounds of Jack and Luke and the older man, and it had given nothing back. Allen let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. His chest ached. His shoulders were still tight, his fingers still curled as if they expected the sword to be there. But the sword was in his hand, still wet, still heavy. He crossed the dark room to the bed. The candle had gone out when Jack fell. Only the faint glow of the slum outside came through the small window. Seraphina lay exactly where he'd left her. Awake. Her violet eyes were open, steady, watching him move through the dark. The blanket had slipped partway down her chest. Allen pulled it back over her shoulder, his knuckles brushing the warm skin
