The One Who Called The Void
The third subject stood in the center of the chamber. He looked at me without fear, without anger, without hesitation. The System continued flashing across my vision.THIRD SUBJECT DETECTED.THREAT LEVEL: 20.VOID CONNECTION: 45%.SUBJECT THREE IS CALLING THE VOID.I tightened my grip on the Beginner Blade. "Stop."The third subject smiled. "I cannot.""Then I will stop you."He tilted his head. "You still think the Void is something you can fight.""I have fought it before.""No. You fought what came through it."The chamber became silent. Behind me, Claire raised her weapon, and Victor stood beside her. Noah and Elias moved closer to the Core Warden while Mary stayed beside Daniel. My twin watched the third subject carefully."You opened the door," my twin said. The third subject looked at him. "Yes.""Why?"His expression changed, and for the first time I saw sadness in his eyes. "Because I was six."Nobody spoke. He looked at me. "I did not understand what they were asking me to d
The Prisoner Below
"I have been waiting for you."The voice came from beneath the broken floor. It was deep, but strangely calm. I stood frozen for a moment, staring into the darkness below. Then my System appeared.ANCIENT VOID SIGNATURE DETECTED.THREAT LEVEL: UNMEASURABLE.IDENTITY: SEALED.STATUS: AWAKENING.The third subject stepped backward, and my twin moved beside me. Daniel raised his weapon. "Everyone move away from the opening." Nobody questioned him.The ground shook again, and a huge black hand pushed through the broken floor. It was larger than the Core Warden, black energy covering its fingers, and every movement caused the walls to crack. The Architect Commander looked at it and immediately ordered his soldiers to retreat."Fall back!"One of the soldiers hesitated. "Commander, what about the children?""Leave them!"The soldiers began running, and I watched them disappear through the upper passage. The Commander was the last to leave, and before he turned away he looked directly at me.
The Choice Of Sever
The words remained in front of me.PLAYER ZERO HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE ORIGINAL CREATOR.I stared at the message while the creature stood only a few steps away."Welcome home, Ethan."My hands tightened around the Beginner Blade. "I have never been here before."The creature smiled. "You were here when you were six."Pain shot through my head. Another memory tried to surface, but I pushed it away. I had no time to remember. The chamber was collapsing, black cracks covering the walls, the ceiling, and the floor.VOID PRISON BREACH: 73%.74%.75%.The number kept rising. I looked at the System.SEVER.Three choices remained.VOID CONNECTION.PLAYER NETWORK.ANCIENT ENTITY.The creature noticed the command, and its smile disappeared. "You cannot sever me.""Then why are you afraid?""I am not afraid.""Then let me try."The creature moved. I barely saw it. One moment it stood several steps away, and the next it was in front of me. I raised my blade, and its hand struck the weapon. The
The Real Void War
The prison had opened. For several seconds, nobody moved. Then the ground beneath us began to rise. Not crack. Rise. The entire Blackridge Core trembled as something enormous pushed against the world from below.I looked at the System.THE PRISON HAS OPENED.THE REAL VOID WAR HAS BEGUN.My chest burned.VOID CONNECTION: 81%.I dropped to one knee. "Ethan!" Mary shouted.I forced myself up. "I am fine."I was not fine. The Void inside me was stronger than it had ever been, moving beneath my skin like a second heartbeat. The third subject was lying on the floor, and Mary was beside him, checking his breathing. "He's alive," she said. I looked at him. The black mark on his chest had almost disappeared, and for the first time he looked like an ordinary man. Then a deep sound came from below. Everyone turned. The Core Warden stepped toward the opening, its body shaking.CORE WARDEN WARNING.ORIGINAL CORE UNDER ATTACK.Daniel rushed toward the control panel. "We have to shut the prison agai
The First Void Gate
The tower opened. A deep crack appeared across its center, spreading from the top to the bottom, and black energy poured through the opening. I could feel it before I saw what was inside. Something was coming. The Void Warriors remained on their knees. The three hundred and sixteen subjects stood frozen behind the barrier. Even the Core Warden refused to move. Then a hand appeared inside the tower. It was enormous, the fingers wrapping around the edge of the opening, and the tower shook as something pulled itself forward. My System flashed.ANCIENT VOID ENTITY DETECTED.THREAT LEVEL: UNMEASURABLE.IDENTITY: SEALED.I looked at Daniel. "Can the Original System stop it?"Daniel stared at the tower. "Not with seventeen percent Core Reserve."The System immediately updated.CORE RESERVE: 17%.ESTIMATED DEFENSE TIME: 8 MINUTES.Eight minutes. That was all we had. I looked at my twin. "We need to reach the tower." He nodded. The barrier around the subjects began shaking. Claire stepped forw
The Road Into The Void
The last message remained in front of me.FIND THE REMAINING 273 SUBJECTS.LOCATION: THE VOID.I stared at it, unable to speak. We had just closed the First Void Gate. Forty seven people had been rescued, but two hundred and seventy three were still trapped somewhere beyond that gate.Claire walked toward me. "Ethan, what does it say?"I turned the System toward her. Her expression changed. "The Void?"I nodded. Victor looked at Daniel. "Can we even enter that place?"Daniel was silent. "That is not a place humans are supposed to enter."I looked at him. "Neither was this." I pointed toward the ruined Blackridge Core. "And yet we are still alive."Daniel shook his head. "You do not understand what you are asking.""Then explain it.""The Void is not simply another world. It is connected to countless places, countless spaces, and countless forms of life. The moment you enter, the rules of this world may stop protecting you."My twin stepped beside me. "But Ethan can enter."Daniel look
The Fortress That Hunts
The black fortress moved without wheels, wings, or any visible engine. Its walls were covered with strange silver marks that changed whenever Ethan looked at them, and it was coming straight toward them.Ethan tightened his grip on the Beginner Blade. "Everyone stay behind me."Victor looked at the fortress. "That thing is not a building.""No," Claire said quietly. "It is hunting us."[ DANGER SENSE ACTIVATED ][ HOSTILE TARGET APPROACHING ][ THREAT LEVEL: 21 ]Ethan stared at the fortress. "System, scan it."[ SCAN FAILED ][ TARGET IS OUTSIDE CURRENT SYSTEM AUTHORITY ]His chest tightened. The fortress suddenly stopped, and then its front wall opened. There was no door; the entire wall simply separated down the middle, revealing a dark passage. Ethan saw movement inside. Hundreds of people stood behind the opening."The subjects," Noah whispered.Ethan could see them clearly now. Men, women, and children stood packed together in the darkness, their clothes torn, their faces pale.
The Face Of Daniel
Ethan stared at the man standing where the masked entity had been. The face was Daniel Cole. His father. For several seconds, Ethan could not hear anything except his own breathing. The Void Hunters were still moving around them, but the world seemed distant. His twin stepped closer. "That is not our father."The figure smiled. "You are correct."Ethan raised his blade. "Then tell me what you are.""I am a memory that learned how to live."The answer made Ethan's skin crawl. The fortress shook violently. The two hundred and seventy three subjects were gone from sight, trapped somewhere beneath the moving structure. Ethan could still sense them through Void Vision, but their signals were fading."Where are they?"The figure looked at him calmly. "Below us.""Release them.""No."Ethan moved. He crossed the distance in a flash and swung his blade at the figure's neck, but the blade stopped. A dark barrier appeared between them, and the impact sent Ethan backward.[ VOID BARRIER DETECTED
Beneath The Fortress
Ethan stared at the message that had just appeared before him.[ PLAYER ZERO HAS BEEN FOUND ]The words hung on the screen for only a few seconds before fading away, and a heartbeat later the floor beneath them exploded.Ethan grabbed Claire and pulled her backward as chunks of twisted metal flew across the chamber, while Victor shoved Noah and Elias behind a broken console to shield them. Ethan's twin tried to move toward him, but a wall of black energy rose suddenly between them, cutting them off from each other."Ethan!""I'm here!"A small hand reached up through the jagged opening in the floor, followed a moment later by another, and then a child pulled himself upward and into the light. Ethan froze the instant he recognized him. It was the Third Subject. His clothes were covered in black dust, blood ran from a cut on his forehead, and though his eyes were still human, a dark mark now spread across the left side of his face."Ethan," he whispered.Ethan rushed forward, grabbed th
The Voice Inside The System
"Run."The word had come from the System, but Ethan knew immediately that it was not the System speaking. He stared into the darkness beyond the prison door, where something was standing just out of sight. He could not make out its body clearly, since the air around it seemed to bend like rising heat even though the fortress itself was freezing cold. Every instinct in his body screamed that this creature was beyond anything he had ever fought before."Everyone move!" Ethan shouted.Claire grabbed the nearest subject and pulled her toward the chamber entrance while Victor and Noah began guiding the others behind them. Elias stayed close to the rear, keeping his eyes on the darkness the whole time.Ethan's twin remained at his side. "What is happening to your connection?" he asked.Ethan glanced at the System.[ VOID CONNECTION: 100% ][ FULL VOID SYNCHRONIZATION ACTIVE ][ SYSTEM AUTHORITY UNSTABLE ]His twin's face tightened at the sight of it.
