CHAPTER 61 FEARLESSLY DRIVEN
Alphonsus studied the photograph recovered from the abandoned package. Someone had entered his family's security perimeter and photographed Diana without being detected. He lowered the photograph onto the table. “Whoever took this knew where my mother was staying.” Cindy placed the storage facility records beside it. “The address belongs to a dissolved company. Tristan Hayes was its former administrator. We haven't confirmed who's operating the facility now, but our security team found Victor's vehicle there this morning.” Alphonsus looked at her. “Victor is daring me.” “He was seen entering the property. Several armed men are guarding it.” His jaw tightened. “Get the men responsible for the photograph questioned separately. Preserve their phones, vehicles, and every document recovered from them. I want to know how they entered the perimeter.” His security director nodded. “And the facility?” “Confirm the number of men inside, identify the entrances, and prepa
Chapter 62 TREMBLE BEFORE THE RING
Alphonsus turned at the last instant. The blow scraped his cheek instead of breaking his nose, but the force of it drove him sideways into a steel shelving unit. Metal rattled behind him. Victor followed, swinging again, furious that the man he had spent so long trying to crush was still standing.Alphonsus caught his wrist. For one suspended second, they stared at each other. Victor’s expression held more than anger. There was fear beneath it, buried but unmistakable.“Thus is the end of the road for you Victor snarled.“There he goes again empty threats”“Watch and see.Victor twisted free and drove his shoulder into Alphonsus’s chest. They crashed against the shelving. Pain flared through Alphonsus’s ribs. He answered with a short, hard strike that sent Victor stumbling back, but before either man could press the advantage, a sharp burst of gunfire cracked through the facility.“Sir!” one of Alphonsus’s men shouted. “We have movement outside!”The fight stopped being personal.Al
Chapter 63 INVITATION
The vibration came again. A low shudder travelled beneath the floor, rattling broken glass near Alphonsus’s shoes. The golden flare around the Ring faded, leaving his finger aching and his legs unsteady. “Everyone away from the east corridor,” he ordered. The security director moved immediately. Two guards guided Diana and Cindy toward the reinforced sitting room while another called the estate engineer. Alphonsus tried to follow, but the room tilted. Cindy caught his elbow. “You can barely stand.” “I can stand.” “Then stand still long enough for someone else to do their job.” She signalled a guard to bring a chair. Alphonsus disliked needing it, but his ribs hurt with every breath, and he was no use to anyone collapsed on the floor. Diana crouched beside him, her fear controlled but unmistakable. “You came back for us,” she said. “You don't have to prove anything else tonight.” “I’m making sure nobody gets another chance to reach you.” The vibration stopped. For
Chapter 64 GAMBIT FOR THE BOLD ONLY
Alphonsus read the club's warning once more before handing it back to Cindy."Someone paid to keep you out," she said. "That means your presence threatens an interest they want protected.""Or someone wants me to believe that.""Either way, walking in without preparation would be foolish."Cindy had checked the invitation's origin and confirmed the liaison's identity through an independent contact. The meeting was legitimate. The person who had objected remained unidentified."Your security team will stay reachable," she told him. "I'll continue tracing the objection. Don't let anyone separate you from your own judgment."She also passed him a note from the finance team. The capital approved for tonight's contest had been independently verified, but it was a defined allocation, not permission to draw freely on the Williams accounts."Payroll, suppliers, and ongoing operations remain protected," Cindy said. "This amount is available for a new opportunity. Nothing beyond it is authorize
CHAPTER 65 AUCTION FORTUNA
"Show me the ceiling again,” Alphonsus said.Cindy placed the briefing beside the auction notice. “We have authorized up to four hundred and eighty million pounds for the controlling asset. That's our strategic ceiling, not the limit of your wealth.”“And the funds reserved for the businesses?”“Two hundred million pounds remains allocated to payroll, suppliers, safety work, and existing obligations across the Williams companies. Those commitments stay protected regardless of what happens today.”Their finance director turned to the final page. “Your access to the Williams fortune gives you substantial purchasing power, and the twenty-four billion pounds established in Rothschild Private Bank account 790 is only one part of the inheritance. The wider portfolio includes international companies, properties, investments, and strategic holdings. We have the resources to compete without treating every asset as immediately available cash.”Alphonsus studied the figures, then turned to
CHAPTER 66 THE PLOT
For several seconds after Victor's declaration, nobody spoke. Then Daniel Milton Williams leaned toward his camera. “You want us to unite against Alphonsus after everything that has happened? He survived your attacks. What makes you think bringing the entire family together will succeed where your men failed?” Victor's expression tightened. “Because your mistake is assuming I intend to repeat myself.” Marcelus, Victor's eldest son, folded his arms. Cecilia watched her father carefully, while Lilian remained silent, studying the faces appearing across the conference screen. Other branches of the Williams family had joined from private offices and residences. Marcel Holmes Williams sat beside his children, Jerry, Cara, and Kyla. Charles Monty's branch was represented alongside Lorraine Williams, Cara Williams, and Jenna Williams, whose children remained outside the camera's view. Daniel's three children listened without interrupting. Victor surveyed them. “Alphonsus has
CHAPTER 67 ARRIVAL
Cindy stared at the message again. She showed Alphonsus the screen. He read the words, then glanced toward the damaged entrance, where workers were reinforcing the gates.“Can we identify the sender?”“No. The warning about weapons is credible, but we cannot verify who sent it or what the first message means.”“Then we prepare for what we know.”Alphonsus summoned the security chief. Every entrance was to be monitored, all weapons surrendered, and every visitor's escort kept outside the residential wing. Diana would be informed, but nobody was to alarm her unnecessarily.Cindy added another instruction. “Record every arrival. Watch the hands, not just the faces.”Alphonsus nodded. “And nobody gets special treatment because of their surname.”Diana joined them before the first vehicle appeared. She listened to the warning without interrupting.“They are James's family,” she said finally. “That does not mean they are James's friends.”“No,” Alphonsus replied. “But they will have the o
CHAPTER 68 THE HEIR’S FIRST COUNTERMOVE
The servant ran before Victor's men reached the corridor.“Stop him!” someone shouted behind the door.He abandoned the empty tray and raced toward the servants' passage, his heart hammering. Footsteps followed. At the junction, a guard stepped into his path, demanding to know why he was running.“Mr Jameson needs to know,” the servant gasped. The guard seized his arm.“Know what?”Before the servant could answer, another man appeared behind them. Recognizing Victor's associate, the servant twisted free and darted through a narrow doorway leading toward the kitchens.A household steward heard the commotion and intervened, demanding that the guards explain themselves. That brief distraction gave the servant enough time to reach Cindy.“They are going to lock the gates,” he whispered. “At midnight. From outside. I heard Victor's people discussing it.”Cindy's expression hardened.“Where is Victor?”“Not here. His voice came through a communication device.”She took the servant directly
CHAPTER 69 COMMOTION
The convoy rolled through the estate’s damaged entrance headlights sweeping over broken stone and fresh security barriers. Alphonsus stood at the entrance with Cindy beside him. “Names and purpose before anyone crosses the courtyard. Private guards remain outside unless our verified team clears them.” Felicia emerged first, composed despite the hostile welcome. She had come to hear both sides before choosing one. Anabella followed, glaring at the guards surrounding the convoy. “If Victor sent you to frighten people into obedience, I want no part of it,” she said. Behind Felicia, Anabella kept glancing at the private guards. Harrietta demanded that every vehicle be searched for records removed from other branches. Lily quietly warned her that accusations without proof would only give Victor another excuse to divide them. Juliet agreed, but refused to let caution become silence. Tommy’s guards shifted when Cindy asked them to surrender their weapons for inspection.
CHAPTER 70 NON NEGOTIABLE TERMS
The vehicle carrying Adrian vanished beyond the gates. Alphonsus watched until its taillights disappeared, then turned to Cindy.“Secure the evidence. Find out who authorised those men, but nobody leaves this estate alone.”Cindy handed the torn fragment to a trusted guard. “I’ll verify everyone assigned to the council chamber. The captured man stays separate.”“Good. Bring the family in.”The chamber filled with relatives whose anger had survived in the courtyard. Lydia, Lyla, and Yasmine took seats near Diana’s empty chair. Victor’s children, Marcelus, Cecilia, and Lilian, arrived together. Daniel Milton Williams entered with his three children. Marcel Holmes Williams came with Jerry, Cara, and Kyla. Charles Monty arrived with his own three children. The distant cousins joined them: Felicia, Anabella, Harrietta, Lily, Juliet, Tommy, Ethan, Edmund, Peter, Charles, and Rayson. Lorraine Williams sat with her only child near the chamber doors. Cara Williams, representing a separate bra
