Everyone around watched what was unfolding before their eyes and they couldn't believe if they had heard right or even seen right.

Anthony had just bowed before Adrian and then called him Young Master. Fear assailed the receptionist as well as the security men.

Adrian himself was still recovering from the assault and couldn't believe Anthony was treating him like some royalty or at least an important part of Castle and Castle.

He didn't know what to answer. Anthony immediately turned to the guards. “What happened that you would harass Young Master like that?”

The security men blanched and immediately started tripping over themselves to explain.

“It was Emelds, Sir. She ordered us to remove him from here.”

Anthony turned to the receptionist. “And you?” he barked, his voice so cold and harsh it must feel like a whip. “Why did you choose today to reveal your stupidity and lack of professionalism to the world?”

The girl gasped, stumbling out of the huge desk that always gave her power to mistreat anyone and feel good about it. “I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Sir. I am deeply ashamed —” she started to beg.

Anthony turned to Adrian. “What happened here, Young Master?”

Later Adrian would figure out why he kept calling him that, but right now he must explain how the girl humiliated him. “I only asked her to check for my appointment and let me up to see you, but she decided I should be thrown out, that I don't belong here.”

The girl paled, tears starting to fall from her eyes. “Forgive me, Sir.” she turned to Adrian, guessing that he was the one with the power to get her out of this.

She crawled to him to grip t his trouser legs. Adrian shifted away.

“Please forgive me, it will never happen again. I won't ever judge people for their looks again.” She sobbed, kneeling and begging with her palms running together.

“If you're sorry, then you're guilty. You had no reason not to have sent him up to my office instead you chose to play God. You're fired.” Anthony proclaimed, before turning away from her.

The girl's exclamation rang out in the lobby as she started to wail.

Anthony placed a guiding hand on Adrian's back. “If you would follow me, Young Master?”

He guided him to a private elevator, made for only the top executives of the company and waited for Adrian to get inside first. It was after Adrian had stepped inside that he entered with him, three bodyguards that had followed Anthony now flanking them.

Adrian could barely hold himself from asking all the questions he had and even the questions that had been raised by the occurrence in the lobby. He wanted them all answered.

The elevator went up to the last floor of the building and they stepped out. They made their way down a long, silent and cool hallway, with gray walls, and steel doors, as they passed a few other doors and got to the last one.

Immediately, Anthony swiped a card in the door, and still entered in a pin code. The door opened and only him and Adrian stepped through as the bodyguards stood guard outside the office.

Anthony turned to Adrian. “We will now enter you into the facial recognition system of the office since you're here now.”

Adrian looked puzzled. “Why would you do that? Was I so important that you would fire an employee for me?” Not that he particularly cared for that girl, she was not fit to be the first face guests met when they came to the company for the first time.

Anthony walked to the large desk that sat at one end of the office, and stepped behind it. He motioned for Adrian to follow and he did. He opened a door with his face and inside was another elevator.

Adrian felt in awe. They went up only one more floor. When they stepped out, it was to a short large hallway, with only one door at the end.

Anthony turned to Adrian. “Only five people know of this place, including you.”

Adrians jaw almost dropped open. “Why? Why me?” He knew Anthony knew what he was asking. How was he so important to know what was going on?

Anthony used another card and facial recognition to open the only door in the hallway and they entered inside.

Adrian looked around. It was some sort of hospital room. Except this was no hospital, and whoever lay in the bed was the only patient here.

He was plugged into some medical devices, and he lay on the bed in the room. A heart monitor beeped beside the bed and there was a buffet until at the other end. There was also a small sitting area.

Adrian walked to the bed and looked down at the person lying there. The man looked frail and very pale, hooked up as he was to so many tubes. He even had to depend on life support.

It was a face he remembered all too clearly. A face he loved and revered. Sir Brooks.

He turned to Anthony as a little realization dawned. Sir Brooks was still alive.

“But why?” Adrian asked the question that repeatedly rang in his head. Why him? Why tell him this important secret? Why bring him here and show him this?

Anthony looked at him with serious gray eyes.

“Adrian Richards, you are Sir Brooks' son, and the successor to Brooks Castle and Castle.”

Adrian called out as he jogged toward him, the urgency in his voice undeniable. "What’s going on?"Blinks turned to him, his face a mask of grim determination. He quickly ended the call and slipped his phone into his pocket. "We’ve got a serious problem, Adrian," he said, his voice low and tense. "Lazzaro’s gone desperate. Mr. Shin just sent word from the Black community—Lazzaro’s put a hit out on you. A group of assassins is on their way right now."Adrian felt a cold chill race down his spine. "Assassins? Here?"Blinks nodded, his expression hardening. "Yeah, and they’re no

Adrian sat silently in the car, the tension between him and Mr. Brooks palpable. The air was thick with unspoken words and years of unresolved issues. Mr. Brooks glanced at Adrian, his expression softening as he saw the storm of emotions in his son’s eyes."Adrian," Mr. Brooks began, his voice calm but heavy with the weight of what he needed to say. "I know you have a lot of questions. I owe you some answers."Adrian’s gaze remained fixed on the windshield, his jaw clenched. "You think?" he muttered, his tone sharp. "Why didn’t you tell me you were my father? Why let my mother suffer all these years? Why leave us in the dark?"Mr. Brooks sighed, rubbing his temples as if trying to ease the guilt that had been gnawing at him for years. "I wanted to protect you, Adrian. But I realize now that I failed in doing so."Adrian finally turned to look at him, his eyes filled with a mixture of anger and confusion. "Protect me? From what? From you? From the truth?""From the world," Mr. Brooks r

The events of the past few hours had left him seething with anger. “We need to get Rose somewhere safe,” Adrian finally said, his voice tight with restrained fury.Blinks nodded in agreement. “Agreed. She shouldn’t be here when we go after Lazzaro.”They didn’t waste any time. Within minutes, Rose was ready to go, her expression calm but determined. She wasn’t the type to show fear, and even now, after everything that had happened, she remained composed. “Where are we going?” Rose asked as Adrian helped her into the car.“To the police station,” Adrian said. “You’ll be under Penelope and Ramsey’s protection. They’ll keep you safe until this is over.”Rose nodded, trusting Adrian’s judgment. As much as she wanted to stay by his side, she knew that her safety—and the safety of their unborn child—was the priority. The drive to the station was tense but silent. High-rise,” Adrian’s voice came through, tense but controlled. In the background, Blinks could hear the unmistakable sounds of gunfire and chaos.“I’m on my way. Before leaving, he dialed another number—Ramsey’s.“Ramsey, it’s Blinks. Adrian’s under attack. Restaurant in the high-rise. Get units there, now.”“Got it. I’ll send a team.
