Being shot, being betrayed by his team, Steven was drowning in the deepest of the blues,

His head hit the rock and he closed his gaze to the world confusingly,

But life is unpredictable, we never know when a second chance is waiting for us, and maybe life wants to give him a second chance, he was dragged along by the ripples to a completely different place, with his last breath.

He opened his eyes to an unknown land, but actually, the land he always fought with.

Though a difficult one, he got his chance as he was saved by some refugees,

Finding himself alive he was shocked and looked around, it was a tent, where he was kept,

His mind was blocked when he saw the military signs of another country in that tent, so he was dragged to a different country, being a soldier it was the terrible thing that could happen to him,

he tried to escape, but his body was frozen, not even an inch can be moved...

Only his eyes, and ears were in his control,

"so this is what they call a vegetative state"

he thought to himself,

The sound of steps coming near make him alert, and he closed his eyes to hide his existence,

Someone came in,

"Is he the one you were talking about?" one of them was yelling at the other, his voice was at a pitch, as to say he may be some higher official,

"Yes... sir..." the other one replied, but he has a hesitation as he spoke,

"Are you sure he is from that battalion?" said the former one,

"Yes...sir, the dress he was wearing was of a different squadron, but the bullet we got was shockingly from the same legion,"

the other one concluded,

"So he was shot by his men?" sarcastically said the high head.

"yes sir"

" Well that's good, we can make use of this trash....hhh"

One of them came near to Steven and said,

"get well soon my friend, I will show you how you can get your revenge",

Steven was frightened, but he can't show it, he kept his eyes closed and those men went out talking about something else,

He opened his eyes to look around, and his doubts, about being shot by his team were confirmed, he was devastated about him being alive,

" why....??" his mind was exploding with anger and his eyes were red his blood boiling with rage.

though he was alive, his life was nothing but a vegetal,

His mind was not at ease,

"what happened back then?"

his team was like a family to him, those were the men, he could trust blindly, there were many times when they fight for each other's lives, then why?

He wanted the answers so badly that he tried to move in fury, but he was able to move his fingers now, trying more made him dizzy,

"Don't...., don't try it...!!" a lady's voice echoed in his tent, he panicked,

"I gave you drugs, don't worry you are safe, they'll make it hell for you if you are fine"

said that lady, from outside of the tent, he couldn't see clearly, but her shadow was visible, making him guess, a young lady in her twenties or thirties,

"who......hoo?" his throat was swollen and he could hardly make any sound, she added,

"no... you can't talk, just be like that for some days, until you gather your strength and then escape, it's no good place, and be careful not to reveal yourself" he wanted to know who was speaking, but it was out of his range, he couldn't help himself,

A tragic month passed, and he was healed, not completely but most of his injuries were healed, that lady never talked to him again, only some drugs were given to him periodically and he wanted to know who his Savior was but he wasn't able to,

There were regular visitors for him too, those men never leave him alone, they want him, for compiling information about his military base, which he will never want to sell out even at the cost of his life,

One night he tried moving his legs and was happy to see, he could move them,

that lady came to him,

"listen to me soldier, I'll not give you drugs tomorrow, so be careful not to sell yourself out"

his speech was a little bit better now, he tried whispering,

"Who... are... you?"

"you no need to know," she mumbled, the shadow that he was able to see, vanished.

The other month he was able to move and sit on his own, he was fed on medications as he was just a vegetable for them, but it was good for him to conceal himself,

another month passed by, and he found food, and meat every day at night below his bed, he started eating it, and was very much normal now.

His recovery was so fast, he started training himself to face the enormous dangers outside,

Six months later he was ready to move on, but his Saviour was still in dark, he tried many times but couldn't meet her,

One night there were weapons along with the food for him, he guessed that his savior was trying to implicate that he can leave now,

After the routine check-up, when those soldiers left the camp, he got up from his bed and crawled out of the door,

it was his first time seeing the sky after a long period of six months, he felt the light coming from the moon,

but time didn't allow him to perceive that.

With his hand on the gun and the other on the explosives, he moved forward prepared to seize the second chance that God gave him.

But deep in his heart he had the wish to see the face of his Saviour, he can confiscate only one possibility, if he turns back to see her he might not be able to escape alive and if he escaped from there now, he won't be able to see her in his life, but he opted the one she wanted, and ran away from the river path from where he was captured,

Those were the medical camps for them, so there was no tough security, he killed everyone coming in his way and cleared his route to escape, every step of him took him near to his answers,

And finally struggling with fate and surviving hell, he was able to escape from the base camp,

There was another setback waiting for him.

The border check,

He joined the troupe of artists going to perform out in the outskirts, they had many troops along with them, which made it easy for him to blend in with them and hideously he managed to pass the gate, but a sound of warning altered him,

A huge sound was made to alert everyone that a captive had escaped, Steven know that it was for him,

They might have checked the camp, and found that he had escaped,

He rushed forward, to avoid the checkout team coming to him and but they were alarmed, checking person to person, with no other option left Steven lit an explosion and threw it on the opposite side to cover himself and escaped, it was a trick they learned from their training.

Though he healed, his body was still weak to be able to handle a fight again.

By choosing every tricky way he escaped the death call once again.

Traveling a long way with another caravan he finally reached his land. Clenching the mud from the land he smelled it signifying the wonderful smell of patriotism that ran along his blood.

"I am safe now...!!" he stretched his arms and felt the air from his hometown,

"now it's time to know the answers I have been waiting for..."

He went to call one of his friends, but he didn't even have a penny in his pocket.
