Bethany sighed. “You're right. This is too much for someone to have. Especially someone with a job like his, or status like his. I'll look into the matter.”

“I'm coming with you. There's no need to worry, okay? We are going to uncover all that's needed. You don't need to worry.”

There were no words, silence reigned, and she sighed. “Fine. Then let's get moving. Whatever we need isn't going to be found out here, we both know that.”

“Yeah, you're right,” Bethany responded as she pushed herself up from her head alongside Henry.

They walked towards the door, and then he paused. “Let's take my car. I'll be delighted to drive you.” He added.

Not really having a choice, she decided to let him tag along, but warned him sternly.

“I'll be the one doing the topic. There's no need for you to put your mouth in businesses that do not concern you, and also, I'll ensure that everything is uncovered if you cooperate.”

Henry smirked. “You wouldn't even know I'm here, but there are so many houses

Bethany looked around to see that there were more suitcases stuffed with letters when she tried to open them. At some point, she got tired. She squeezed her face, and immediately fisted her hands. However, she wanted to make sure the investigation was complete. “What if the letter was something bad. You should check it out. Maybe there's more. Let's pour out the letters, check deeper. Something's definitely wrong.” He urged and the next thing she did shocked him. She walked over to where the letters were and made sure to pick them up, and then she stared at the envelope for a few seconds before pulling out the letter that was inside. Bethany's eyes darted around the lines, and the frown that was there slowly started to turn into a smile. She stared at the letter with so much compassion it got him worried about what it might be. “What does the letter say? Does it incriminate him?” Henry asked. He seemed more interested in what the letter was saying, so he inched closer to

“You must actually be kidding me. Do you think I would want to cover up a crime? Checking those boxes will take forever, and you want us to do that now because you're insecure, or sure of a crime when clearly the letter says it's for charity.” He frowned. “That's the point. The letter. That letter contained a huge help that he offered. How was he able to get that kind of money? The case isn't closed. If you close down the case then I guess it's because you want to, but as for me, I don't think I want the case closed now until every letter is open.” His voice was certain, with no remorse. Bethany clenched her fists, her glare sharp. As much as she wanted to argue, she knew Henry had a point. Still, the thought of dragging her team into unnecessary trouble made her hesitate. She sighed, anxiety settling in her chest. She had made a promise to herself to make sure Norman comes out of prison, but she still needs to follow certain procedures. “You know why I’m doing this,” Henry said fi

Mr Lucas the mayor was now seated with Mr Havold, Henry's father. They seemed to be having a good time, sipping wine, and enjoying themselves.A laugh erupted from Lucas' lips. He was the happiest at this time. However, Havold was quiet, watching him speak. “I must say, your son is really something. He was the one who uncovered everything. I'm so proud of him. You must be really proud as well.” Havold chuckled. He seemed to be enjoying the conversation. His eyes were fixed on the mayor who was still busy praising his son.“Yes of course I'm proud of my son. Besides, he was the reason a fraud star like Norman was caught. I really want to make sure he stays in jail forever. Thankfully he has video evidence that can change everything. But it's not such a big deal.”Lucas raised his brows. “What did you say, not a big deal? Are you kidding me?” Lucas exclaimed it seemed he had a lot in mind as well. His lips were parted, and he stared at Havold for a while. It seemed Havold wasn't as i

“ma'am, can you please give us the information we want to hear? You being quiet doesn't really confirm anything.” Immediately that way said, Bethany raised her head, and handed a white envelope that has been in her hands for a while. “Take this, and read it to the world. This is what we have been seeing. Letters like this.” She expressed, passing another angry gaze at Henry before walking away. Her hands were shaking, and she wanted nothing more than to leave that place.Immediately the journal list got her eyes on the letter, she turned towards the camera, and started reading the inked letters. However, at some point, she frowned, but didn't stop reading.“Thank you, Mr Norman for all you do. My family would never stop being grateful for all the things you have done for them. Havold couldn't contain himself in the car. His eyes darkened, and he tried to understand himself. There was something definitely going on, something that nobody understood. It wasn't as easy as expected, and things were going haywire. As soon as he got to Lucas’s office, he didn't wait for his presence to be told. He rushed into the office, and rushed to where Lucas was seated.“Did you see what happened out there? Why didn't you tell me about you knowing the truth?” Lucas' eyes widened. “How did you know that? Yes I knew the truth, but I didn't know how to approach you, but come on. You were already in the conference. Your phone wasn't even being passed to you no matter how many times I called.”With that, he immediately slammed both hands on the table. Havold wasn't having it. He had a fixed expression. His eyes turned dark, and he immediately demanded to know why he was quiet all the while.“You knew this was going to happen and at the end of the day, you didn't even bother to te

“You have us unverified information. I believe very well that this was your fault. Come on, you have to understand that there are a lot of things involved here.”He nodded. “ I admit that it was both of our fault, but I have a solution. How about we do something about the people. We bring up those that are against normal. I know they'll support us. How about we make them know who's boss?”“You're right. I think there's a way to make that happen. It's all a matter of time. I'll get in contact with some of the men, and ensure they all find something to charge him with.”He was bragging hard, but Havold listened to everything that was being said. “Listen anyway you do it, as long as it is in my favour, then I don't care. I don't want to have to hear anything about being impeached.”Lucas gulped. “There's no problem. Everything is going to be fine. I have a feeling it's going to be.” “Better.” Havold replied, and walked away from there. He hated everything that was happening, and couldn

He might be angry, but will never not take my call. Besides, I've never done anything to make him angry, or did I?” she asked herself, and immediately sighed. There was a lot on her head, and she pressed her lips together, trying to understand the whole situation. Her facial expression was in a frown, and her lips were tied together. • Chapter 98

The city of Yivel was a mosaic of stone spires and huge bazaars, but its north quarter was an open sore, infested by a plague of death that poisoned the air and stilled the streets. The plague quarter was quarantined, its narrow streets shut behind wooden palisades, their faces smeared with notices in blood-red paint. The plague was merciless, its victims wiry and sweating, their bodies smeared with festering black boils, their coughs death knells. There were empty houses, boarded-up windows, chalk-crossed doors. There was a reek of rot, and a small, acrid bite of medicinal herbs that could not stem the tide. Yivel's best physicians, wrapped in white robes and leather hoods, glided like spirits, their remedies futile, their furrowed, tortured faces. Norman, a foreigner to this world, was tasked with finding the antidote where the smartest had fallen short, his quest a thread held to the vault and Murai, the Kurai most precious, his master's sister, who bore it next to her heart.Norma

Northern villages were a hard country, their wind-battered, curved hills battered by war and worn by wind. There was air, the scent of pine and wet earth, bruise-coloured sky, restless clouds low-hung. Muddy roads wandered between clusters of thatched cottages, worn roofs and soot-black walls from last's raids. The Black Path Bandits inspired terror—plundered barns, stolen cattle, shallow trenches. The villages lived in terror, for a fog, terror descended on the villages, the skeletal visage of the villagers, their eyes reaching out to the horizon, awaiting the next raid. The bandits were a plague, merciless and ruthless, their name spoken in terror. Norman, this time a ghost of tempest, had been sent to stem them.He strides across the wasteland, his tattered cloak lost in twilight, his boots silent on the mossy ground. His huge body is lean from journeying, his black hair streaked with gray, his blue eyes burning with purpose. Scars cover his hands, a topography of combat, and a sho

Norman rubbed his temples, trying to relieve the pain he was feeling. However, her next words seem to make him open his eyes. "Good job, Norman," Queen Kurai said, her voice gentle. "You passed the first mission. The blue eliza venom is exactly what I needed."Norman looked up at her, still trying to shake off the effects of the venom. "What...what happened?" he asked, his voice hoarse. He seemed to still be very weak, and his memory was faint. Queen Kurai smiled. "You were bitten, but don't worry, I've taken care of the wound. You'll recover fully.” her assurance made him sigh, and he turned to see that his hands were bandaged. As well. Norman's eyes widened in shock as he stared at Queen Kurai. "How did I survive?" he asked, his voice laced with confusion. The Queen's expression remained calm. He was asking too
