CHAPTER 19:

The high-velocity grinding of stone against stone did not come from the southern gates. It vibrated directly down through the structural ventilation ducts, traveling through the reinforced concrete pillars of the mall to reach Mark’s sneakers.

Through [Shared Senses], his vision didn't just stay on the courtyard meat grinder below. A sharp, crimson warning flare snapped open on his auxiliary interface, linked to the security arrays he had established on the upper decks. In his mind's eye, the image of the third-floor luxury cinema complex flared to life. The calcified black silk barriers he had left behind were vibrating violently.

CRACK!

The reinforced glass dome roof of the IMAX auditorium shattered completely. A massive, heavy wave of smaller Shadow Silk Crawlers accompanied by four massive Arachnid Brood Guards dropped directly through the glass ceiling, descending onto the velvet movie seats like a rain of black hair and venomous spikes. They had completely bypassed the frontline funnel zone by scaling the mall’s exterior glass facade from the blind eastern parking deck.

Down on the ground floor, Mr. Shola’s frantic voice suddenly erupted through the security radio communicators Mark had salvaged from the private vault.

"Lord Mark! Lord Mark! The ceiling! They’re inside the third-floor vents! The spiders are dropping into the main promenade! They’re coming straight for the barricades!"

The forty-five survivors sheltered inside the luxury retail wing panicked instantly, dropping their wooden reinforcement beams and screaming as the scraping sounds of hundreds of chitinous legs began to echo from the ceiling panels right above their heads.

"Silence!" Mark’s voice cut through the radio channel—cold, sharp, and entirely steady. "Gideon. This is your only chance to buy your freedom."

In the second-floor retail security cells, the heavy steel doors ground open via Mark’s remote system override. Gideon Cross, his nervous system finally free of the paralytic poison after twenty minutes of rest, stood up from the floor, his dark eyes flashing with a dangerous light. His ten tactical hunters scrambled to pick up the high-velocity stun batons and ballistic shields Mark had left in the anteroom.

"Gideon," Mark’s telepathic thoughts slammed into the assassin’s mind like an iron stake. "The third-floor cinema is your sector. You have ten men and heavy riot gear. Clear the hive. If a single spider reaches the ground floor survivors, I will instruct Sly to constrict your spine until it snaps. Do we have an understanding?"

Gideon Cross gripped a heavy carbon-fiber tactical crossbow from the rack, a sinister, wild smile cutting across his face. He looked up at the ceiling panels where the scratching was growing louder.

"You're a tyrant, Shola. But I'm not going to let a pack of bugs take my spot on the regional leaderboard. Squad! Armor up! We’re hunting silk!"

The ten rogue hunters slammed their polycarbonate ballistic shields together, their heavy riot armor plates clicking into place as they charged up the escalators toward the theater complex, their Level 3 combat stats finally being put to practical use.

Down in the loading dock corridor, Mark didn't even turn his head to check on them. His primary focus remained on the elite Orc vanguard. He raised his right hand, his fingers crackling with golden energy as his own experience bar hit 99.9%.

"Shadow, finish the Chieftains! [Searing Aura], overdrive!" Mark commanded.

Shadow, still shielded beneath Sly’s massive iron-scaled dome, let out a roar that tore plaster from the concrete walls. The black hellfire radiating from his fur turned into a swirling vortex of sub-zero energy, freezing the remaining six Orc Chieftains in place before his claws tore through their brittle, frost-covered breastplates.

A blinding pillar of golden light washed over Mark, his senses expanding so violently that he could hear the distinct heartbeats of every human and monster within a three-block radius. His mana bar instantly filled back to full capacity, glowing a brilliant, radiant blue.

He didn't wait for the golden light to fade. He swiped his hand through the air, opening the new beast synthesis window. He still possessed unused elemental catalysts sitting within his spatial ring, alongside raw monster cores from previous kills.

"Zephyr, descend!" Mark ordered, looking up at the Storm Eagle hovering amidst the crimson lightning clouds. "It’s time for your permanent ascension."

CHAPTER 28: The silence that stretched across the loading dock courtyard was heavier than the concrete walls of the mall itself.Four hundred silver-armored soldiers stood frozen, their knuckles white, their breath hitching in their throats as they looked from the shattered, glowing fragments of their Level 12 Solar Arch-Hound to the nineteen-year-old kid standing over their bleeding commander.Mark’s vertical, toxic green pupils slowly dilated, shifting back into cold, golden human rings as [Asura Symbiosis] entered its cooling phase. The organic iron-wire fibers beneath his skin faded, but the suffocating pressure radiating from his presence didn't drop a single point."Two," Mark said, his voice smooth, clear, and flat.Behind him, the air violently rippled. Beside him, Shadow moved like a blur of midnight-black smoke, his paws leaving trails of scorched asphalt on the highway ruins. Sly slithered closely behind, his heavy, matte-black iron scales rattling aggressively against the debris like a shield wall.High above the crimson sky, a blinding, golden pillar of light had pierced through the bruised purple clouds, slamming directly onto the glass dome roof of the Grand Plaza Mall. CHAPTER 25: The heavy, squelching sound of steel-toed combat boots splashing through shallow water echoed down the flooded subway tunnel.Mark stood perfectly still at the edge of the sunken train platform, his hands tucked deeply into his jacket pockets. Behind him, the dark water of the reservoir pool was completely smooth, like a sheet of black glass. There was no sign of Kraken, his newly bound Abyssal Leviathan, nor was there any trace of Sly or Shadow. His beasts had entirely dissolved into the surrounding darkness and water using their active stealth abilities. To anyone walking into the chamber, Mark looked like a lone, exhausted teenager trapped in the dark underbelly of the city."Hold it right there! Hands where I can see them!"A harsh, authoritative voice barked from the entrance archway. A tactical flashlight beam sliced through the thick, sulfurous air, blindingly illuminating Mark’s face.Seven human hunters marched onto the platform,

The air down here was thin, charged with a magnetic friction that made the tiny hairs on Mark's arms stand on end.Through [Shared Senses], the thermal signatures mapped by Sly’s iron-scaled receptors began to shift. The narrow subway tunnel suddenly opened up into a cavernous underground junction—the central metropolitan water treatment reservoir. The chamber was the size of a stadium, featuring towering concrete pillars that disappeared into the pitch-black ceiling, holding up the weight of the cit

CHAPTER 23: The staircase of the Grand Plaza Subway Station felt like descending into the throat of an ancient, aquatic graveyard. The air down here was thick, cold, and heavy with the suffocating reek of stagnant river mud and decaying sulfur. Black, viscous swamp water sat frozen on the concrete steps, filling the lower concourse up to Mark’s waist. Stripped wiring hung like weeping vines from the cracked tiled ceiling, and dead, rusted turnstiles were half-submerged in the dark flood.Mark waded forward without a single flicker of hesitation, the freezing black water parting smoothly around his thighs. Through [Shared Senses], his night vision was absolute. He was looking through Shadow’s crimson eyes, mapping the underwater currents through the subtle heat-receptors of Sly’s iron scales. Every ripple in the dark water was instantly translated into clean tactical data on his reticle.Behind him, Gideon Cross held his polycarbonate ballistic shield tight agai
