CHAPTER 28:

The silence that stretched across the loading dock courtyard was heavier than the concrete walls of the mall itself.

Four hundred silver-armored soldiers stood frozen, their knuckles white, their breath hitching in their throats as they looked from the shattered, glowing fragments of their Level 12 Solar Arch-Hound to the nineteen-year-old kid standing over their bleeding commander.

Mark’s vertical, toxic green pupils slowly dilated, shifting back into cold, golden human rings as [Asura Symbiosis] entered its cooling phase. The organic iron-wire fibers beneath his skin faded, but the suffocating pressure radiating from his presence didn't drop a single point.

"Two," Mark said, his voice smooth, clear, and flat.

Behind him, the air violently rippled. Zephyr, the twenty-four-foot Roc of the Void, descended from the crimson clouds, his massive wings of midnight-blue spatial glass folding with a heavy, metallic click. The arcs of violet gravity lightning dancing across his feathers hummed aggressively, casting long, sweeping shadows across the trembling military lines.

"Drop your weapons! Drop them now!" a senior Alliance lieutenant shrieked, his face slick with sweat as he tore off his silver gauntlet and hurled his spatial ring onto the blood-slicked asphalt. "He's not a human player! He's a Calamity! I'm not dying for a political faction!"

Clink. Clat-clatter.

The sound of surrender erupted like a mechanical wave. Four hundred elite soldiers dropped to their knees, their automatic rifles, elemental spears, and heavy silver tower shields crashing onto the pavement in a tangled pile of iron. One by one, they yanked the glowing silver spatial rings from their fingers, tossing them forward into a glittering mound at Mark’s feet.

[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION: SUBJUGATION COMPLETE]

Territory Status: 4th Regiment of the Global Salvation Alliance Subdued

Frictional Subjugation: Sector Leadership Score +400 Units

Mass Loot Event Detected: 400x Low-Grade Spatial Rings in Proximity

Action: Consolidating into Primary Spatial Inventory...

"Consolidate," Mark thought, his mind executing the interface command.

His Baron-Grade Spatial Ring flashed a blinding silver light. In less than three seconds, the massive mound of four hundred rings dissolved into streams of metallic vapor, pouring straight into his pocket dimension. His interface screen updated with a massive list of spoils.

[MASS HARVEST SUMMARY]

Canned Rations: 2,000 Units

Standard Energy Crystals: 400 Units

Elemental Skill Shards: 50 Units

System Coins: 12,000 Coins

Mark didn't look at the notification list. He kept his eyes locked on Rebecca Vance, who was still kneeling in the dirt, clutching her fractured platinum staff as a thin line of blood ran down her chin. The 40% contract backlash had turned the proud Rank 3 Holy Elementalist into a fragile, trembling shell.

"Your... your system numbers..." Rebecca wheezed, her voice cracked with raw envy and terror as she stared up at Mark. "The Alliance... the high command downtown... they have level 6 tanks and heavy mechanical artillery. They won't let a lawless anomaly like you hold this sector's core safe zone. They will deploy the orbital beacon next—"

"Let them deploy it," Mark interrupted, his voice dropping into a dangerous, sub-zero whisper as he bent down and casually snatched the platinum staff from her weak fingers. The weapon vanished into his ring space. "The downtown high command thinks they are the ones playing this game, Rebecca. But they are just farming materials for my beasts' next evolution."

Mark turned his back on her, walking toward the broken loading dock shutters where Mr. Shola and Gideon Cross stood waiting in absolute, submissive awe.

"Mr. Shola," Mark commanded flatly.

"Y-Yes, Lord Mark! I am here! My construction crew is ready!" Mr. Shola scrambled forward, bowing so low his nose almost touched the wet pavement.

"Take these four hundred silver-armored prisoners and strip them of their plate coats. March them down to the northern underground drainage lines," Mark ordered, his face an unreadable mask. "The Subterranean Source core I activated in the subway has caused the lower foundations to shift. I want a secondary concrete structural trench built beneath the grocery warehouse within twenty-four hours. Anyone who complains about the water temperature gets fed to Kraken."

"Understood, Lord Mark! They will work until their fingers bleed!" Mr. Shola barked, aggressively waving his metal pipe to rally Gideon’s ten armored hunters to corral the prisoners.

Mark turned his head slightly, looking up at the sky where the crimson clouds were slowly turning a deep, ominous shade of metallic gray. Through his [Shared Senses] link with Zephyr, his spatial awareness was picking up an unnatural distortion in the upper atmosphere. The system countdown toward the Continental Merge was no longer tracking days or hours—it was entering its final phase. The rules of the world were about to shatter completely.

PING!

A global system siren exploded directly inside the minds of every living being on Earth, crimson text flashing blindingly across Mark’s reticle.

CHAPTER 25: The heavy, squelching sound of steel-toed combat boots splashing through shallow water echoed down the flooded subway tunnel.Mark stood perfectly still at the edge of the sunken train platform, his hands tucked deeply into his jacket pockets. Behind him, the dark water of the reservoir pool was completely smooth, like a sheet of black glass. There was no sign of Kraken, his newly bound Abyssal Leviathan, nor was there any trace of Sly or Shadow. His beasts had entirely dissolved into the surrounding darkness and water using their active stealth abilities. To anyone walking into the chamber, Mark looked like a lone, exhausted teenager trapped in the dark underbelly of the city."Hold it right there! Hands where I can see them!"A harsh, authoritative voice barked from the entrance archway. A tactical flashlight beam sliced through the thick, sulfurous air, blindingly illuminating Mark’s face.Seven human hunters marched onto the platform,

The air down here was thin, charged with a magnetic friction that made the tiny hairs on Mark's arms stand on end.Through [Shared Senses], the thermal signatures mapped by Sly’s iron-scaled receptors began to shift. The narrow subway tunnel suddenly opened up into a cavernous underground junction—the central metropolitan water treatment reservoir. The chamber was the size of a stadium, featuring towering concrete pillars that disappeared into the pitch-black ceiling, holding up the weight of the cit

CHAPTER 23: The staircase of the Grand Plaza Subway Station felt like descending into the throat of an ancient, aquatic graveyard. The air down here was thick, cold, and heavy with the suffocating reek of stagnant river mud and decaying sulfur. Black, viscous swamp water sat frozen on the concrete steps, filling the lower concourse up to Mark’s waist. Stripped wiring hung like weeping vines from the cracked tiled ceiling, and dead, rusted turnstiles were half-submerged in the dark flood.Mark waded forward without a single flicker of hesitation, the freezing black water parting smoothly around his thighs. Through [Shared Senses], his night vision was absolute. He was looking through Shadow’s crimson eyes, mapping the underwater currents through the subtle heat-receptors of Sly’s iron scales. Every ripple in the dark water was instantly translated into clean tactical data on his reticle.Behind him, Gideon Cross held his polycarbonate ballistic shield tight agai
