Chapter 1: It Has Begun
[Oh Humanity... You have failed me. You have failed to evolve, and I have wasted 300,000 years waiting for you. For that, I will not make this easy. This is my last gift to you. A brutal one.] The message flashed across the vision of every man, woman, and child on Earth. For a moment, the world seemed to stop and hold its breath. Then another message flashed. [Phase One: Weed out the weak.] Across the world, people over the age of 65 and under the age of 6 instantly felt a strange jolt. They lost consciousness, their bodies twisting and changing, before rising again as mindless zombies. They turned on their loved ones and anyone nearby with sudden, savage hunger. These zombies craved living flesh, hunting down any living thing to feast on brains, hearts, and intestines. Those with disabilities were also transformed. In less than a minute, over three billion people changed. In that same minute, chaos followed. Car crashes, fatal mistakes in operating rooms, planes colliding in the sky. Accidents of every kind happened all over the world, reducing humanity from eight billion to four billion in an instant. And the number kept dropping fast. Just when people thought that was the whole problem, the issue grew. The animals began to change, twisting and mutating. Then, black voids ripped open in the sky above different parts of Earth. Strange, monstrous creatures started to fall from these holes. This was the beginning of the apocalypse. It was quick, brutal, and it did not care about anyone’s feelings. --- Kingdom, who was eighteen, was lying on his back in his yard. He was enjoying the sun's warmth and sipping fruit juice when the message appeared in his vision. "Weed out what weak?" Kingdom muttered in confusion as he looked at it. He looked around. The message vanished as quickly as it came. He thought it might have been a hallucination and shrugged his shoulders. He closed his eyes again and went back to sipping his juice. Bam! A loud crash made him jump up in fright. He was home alone with his dog, and his dog could not make a sound like that which was why he was alerted and startled. Looking ahead, he saw a meter-long crack in the ground about four meters away. What scared the life out of him was the small, black creature crawling out of it. It was short, just over a meter tall. It looked exactly like the goblins he had seen in fantasy movies and anime. In a state of shock, Kingdom barely moved as the goblin spotted him and charged, swinging a crude wooden club. The club grazed his thigh, the pain sharp and sudden. It snapped him out of his daze. Seeing the creature truly meant to kill him, Kingdom knew he needed a weapon. His eyes landed on the glass juice bottle, now about three meters away. The goblin was standing between him and it. The goblin screeched and attacked again. Kingdom jumped sideways, dodging the swing, then sprinted for the bottle. He could hear the creature right behind him. Grabbing the bottle, he spun around and smashed it into the goblin’s face with all his strength. The glass shattered. The goblin let out a shrill scream of pain, grabbing its bloody face with both hands. It dropped its club. Kingdom grabbed the club, his heart pounding with adrenaline, and brought it down on the goblin’s head. Again. And again. He didn’t stop until his arms were too heavy to lift. Where the head had been was now just a meaty paste. Kingdom fell back onto his butt, taking deep, shaky breaths as what he had just done finally hit him. While he was still sitting there, shocked at killing such a strange creature, a small, glowing light floated out of the goblin’s corpse. It flew straight into Kingdom’s chest. "What was that!" Kingdom yelled, grabbing at his chest as if he could pull it out. Ding! A soft chime echoed in his head. [You have leveled up. Status is now available. Say ‘status’ to open your status.] “Status?” A screen, like something from a video game, appeared before his eyes. --- Name: Kingdom Graham Level: 1 Vitality (VIT): 5 Strength (STR): 6 Dexterity (DEX): 5 Agility (AGI): 7 Intelligence (INT): 5 Wisdom (WIS): 4 Unassigned Points: 1 Skills: None --- Kingdom looked at his stats in silence. He felt this wasn’t the time to wallow in confusion. He needed to assess the situation. "This is like an online game," Kingdom muttered. "Then is there a way to get a tutorial?" [Tutorial Activated.] The message flashed before his eyes, shocking him. He didn’t think they could hear his thoughts. But since the information was already showing, and fearing it might disappear, he immediately started to read. Four minutes later, Kingdom closed the status screen and took a deep, shaky breath from the information he had just learned. The tutorial explained a lot. Basically, an almighty being was tired of how slowly humanity was evolving. So, it placed creatures called Abyssal Creatures onto Earth. The Abyssal Creatures were made in a moment by the Creator to look exactly like the monsters from human myths and fantasies. Inside them was a special energy. As they died, this energy would seep into the atmosphere, forcing not just humans and animals, but the whole planet to evolve. This way, humanity would no longer be at the top of the food chain. Even an ant could evolve to a higher level than a human and gain intelligence. Great. Now he would be fighting for space with billions of super mosquitoes. It also explained that the game-like status was made specifically for humans. The words on the screen said: 'Due to you being lowlifes who think everything revolves around you, we made the system in a way you would understand. So you don't get lost.' What an asshole! Kingdom couldn't help but curse when he saw that part. Who wouldn't in such situation? This was like downgrading humanity!Latest Chapter
Chapter 91: The Giant's Welcome
What's special about her, Ava? Kingdom asked, watching the tiny fox approach. Her bloodline. It's powerful. She has the potential to become a divine beast—the Nine-Tailed Fox. With your help, she could reach that potential. Is she trustworthy? Kingdom's gaze lingered on Fei's intelligent eyes. You know you and the others are more than just tamed beasts to me.I believe so. But I will watch her.Kingdom nodded. "Okay, Ava. I trust you." He looked down at the fox. "You want to become my soul beast? Then let's get this over with."The giants scowled at his rudeness, but they held their ground. Fei studied him for a long moment, then stepped forward. Kingdom reached out and touched her forehead.Light consumed her. Pain flared across his back—a new tattoo burning into his skin. When the light faded, Fei was gone, curled up in his soul realm, already beginning to evolve.Lucky little fox, Takon muttered. She barged her way in here, Chaser agreed. She's our comrade now. Chapter 90: The Fox and the Giants
The crowd dissipated quickly. The stage came down. Kingdom gathered his generals at the mansion, the day's events still heavy in the air."I called you here for a few things." He waited until they were seated. "First: civilian levels. They've stagnated. We've been too busy with invasions and other cities. Each division will take groups out and level them."The generals nodded. No opposition."Second: search teams. We need resources. New mines. Stone for the dwarves, materials for our builders." He turned to James. "We need to send teams farther out. It's dangerous. Send your best."James nodded. "I'll go with them.""Good." Kingdom looked at Lance. "Third: I want to thank your division. What happened today could have been worse. Tell your soldiers I'm grateful."Lance bowed his head. "It's my job, City Lord.""Anyone have anything else?"Shenelle spoke. "Our troops need better equipment."Lance nodded. His armor had been destroyed by the zombie king. His shield was still being repaire
Chapter 89: Judgment
Kingdom had a few drinks with Hal but left quickly after the dwarf brought out a barrel. He walked the walls instead, staring out at the forest, the fields, the horizon. No other cities had asked for help. Maybe they were holding their own. Maybe they were already gone.Focus on what you can control, he told himself. Strengthen your own.He pulled out his communication jade. Deke. What are the citizens' levels?Around fifty, City Lord.Kingdom's jaw tightened. Too weak. He had been too busy—fighting invasions, traveling to other cities, integrating refugees. The leveling law had slipped. Tomorrow, he would call his generals. Tomorrow, they would fix this. Today, he let the city breathe.---Hal walked to the demon compound, flask in hand. The guards stopped him at the gate."Tell your leader I'd like to speak with him." Hal took a long swing. The old demon emerged with two guards. "Leader of the dwarves. What can I do for you?""I'm Hal Stronghammer, leader of the Iron Mountain tribe.
Chapter 88: A New Beginning
Shock rippled across the old demon's face, but it vanished quickly, replaced by cold composure. "Is this a threat?" His voice was ice.Kingdom chuckled, shaking his head slowly. "No. I'm showing you that I'm powerful. Arrogant or not, this is the truth." He walked to Ava and placed his hand on her side. "I can protect you. I can make you and your people stronger. If you can't see past your hatred to recognize that, then we have nothing more to discuss."The old demon's face twisted with conflict. He turned and consulted with the ten warriors behind him, their voices rising and falling in rapid debate. Some argued passionately against Kingdom's offer. Others remained silent, speaking only when pressed. Kingdom watched, patient. Finally, the old demon returned. "We must discuss this further with our tribe."Kingdom nodded. "We'll be here until tomorrow. After that, this city and its citizens will be gone."The demon nodded and departed with his warriors. Kingdom turned to his generals.
Chapter 87: The Demon Elder
The next few hours passed quickly. The wounded generals were brought back into the city and healed by Lilith. The residents of City 12 stayed away from them in fear, but Anna followed them around, admiration shining in her eyes. Kingdom settled a few things before going to see his generals. When he walked into the building, he found all of them sitting up on their beds talking. The room went quiet when they saw him. Shame appeared on their faces.Kingdom chuckled. "What? You lose one fight and you're ashamed of yourselves?"They stayed silent, not meeting his eyes."That king was twice as strong as the ones I faced. None of you have anything to be ashamed of. You gained valuable battle experience. The kings are getting stronger, it seems, so we have to get stronger too." The generals seemed to relax a little. "Now get up. We're going to meet the demons."They followed him out.---Maze sat on the floor, her knees pulled to her chest. Her eyes were hollow, fixed on nothing. Around her,
Chapter 86: The King Falls
"Do you think they can do it?"Deke stood beside Kingdom on the wall, watching the four generals battle the king below. The clash of steel and the roar of flames drifted up to them, muted by distance."Colton's Inherited Skill won't do much. Kings barely use skills—they rely on raw strength." Kingdom's voice was quiet, analytical. "James's skill is powerful, but it won't turn the tide alone. This comes down to teamwork. They need to weaken the king together and land a decisive blow."Deke nodded slowly. "What will you do with the demons?"Kingdom let out a long breath. "Try to make peace. Even if it means giving them a few of the guilty from this city.""You want them to join your city."Kingdom didn't deny it. "We need everyone we can get. If I can earn their loyalty like I did with the dwarves… that's another strong ally.""Wouldn't it be better to gain human trust first?"Kingdom laughed—a short, bitter sound. He gestured at the city behind them. "Trust humans like this? The ones w
