The beginning

Chapter 1: the beginning

There was a heavy knock on the door, “knock! Knock!”

A little boy named Mike rushed to the door and asked frightenedly “Who..who is that?”,

“It's the police!” he heard from behind the door making him fidget in fear

“Open this door or we are going to come in ourselves!” the voice of the policeman sounded behind the door

Little Mike slowly opened the door and saw two policemen, standing in front of the door

“Is this Mr. Jack's residence” Officer Reynold, one of the policemen asked Mike nodded with fear In his eyes,

“Is everything okay back there” a male distant voice asked from inside the house

“Who is at the door?” the male voice asked no longer distant as he revealed himself as Mr. Jack,

Mike turned and answered “Papa it is the….” before he could complete the sentence he was pushed aside by Officer Reynold

Officer Reynold rushed in, pointing his pistol at Mr. Jack, shouting “Get down on your knees!!”

Jack, now confused and trying to ask what is the problem, “Please what is going on?”, officer Reynold replied with a soccer punch dropping Jack on the floor.

Mike, seeing this tried to hold Officer Reynold but he was held back by Officer Matthew and he cried bitterly as he watched his dad being beaten like a criminal, Jack tried getting up but he was brought down by Officer Reynold's boots

Mr. Jack was a grown man, but he cried bitterly. He turned to his son, Mike, saying “Stay back! It will be okay”, he said reassuring his son during pain and agony.

After Officer Reynold is satisfied with his torture, he raises him and handcuffs him saying “Let us go thief!” he commanded while dragging Mr. Jack outside

“I won't let you go! Please stay!” Mike cried while hugging tightly his father who was being taken away

“Don't… don't (breathing heavily) worry I will be back”. Jack said with a bleeding mouth as he was been dragged away from the house.

On getting outside, Jack was put at the rear of the police car by Officer Matthew.

“My..my dad is innocent! I don't why you arrest him but he is innocent!” Little Mike persisted at this point he was shouting at Officer Reynold, with his tears-filled eyes.

“Your dad is a thief! A criminal! He stole a diamond necklace from billionaire Andrew and that is why we are arresting him!” Officer Reynold replied

“Please…please…please release him, it's a misunderstanding, I am sure! ( now on his knees begging) he is the only one I have left, please help me!” Mike pleaded in tears

“It is what it is, your dad is a criminal and that is what he is, but I can do you a favor, you can see him in prison,” Officer Reynold said, ignoring his tears.

After saying this, he entered the car and zoomed off with Officer Matthew and his dad Mr. Jack.

Mike Stood up and ran after the car crying bitterly, and feeling devastated, he fell, in a faint voice, he said “he is innocent please……please” he cried while chasing the car that didn't take long before speeding out of view.

“Mike! Mike!! Mike!!!” shouted Manson, Mike snapped and came back to the present.

“You are still holding your past right?” asked Manson,

Mike now a grown man, nodded and said “It's just….. (sighs) that umm… any time I close my eyes, I always remember my father”

“He was innocent, I am sure and I will prove it!” Mike said

“But don't go way over your head” Manson advised, they both laughed.

Mike looked at one of the clocks in Manson's shop and said “It's getting late, guess I should be on my way, my wife, Pearl, and son, Roy, will be waiting”

“Yeah, you should be on your way back, from! Work!” (sarcastically) said Manson,

“you are being sarcastic,” said Mike,

“Yeah, but I just want to ask, do you pearl know that you are a pickpocket?” asked Manson,

“Nah!” replied Mike

“But one day, she will know” Said Manson,

Mike gave out a gasp and said, “Yeah, one day”.

That evening Mike and his friend, Manson, closed for the day and went home.

Mike got home late though, he entered his apartment and met his wife, Pearl, awake, sitting on a couch waiting for him, and as soon as Pearl saw Mike

Pearl shouted angrily “Where the hell were you? I have been waiting for you!”

Mike calmly said “I went to work babe”,

“Yeah! Work!” Pearl said sarcastically, “I…I don’t even know what you do, you leave the house early and come back late,” Pearl said angrily,

Mike replied calmly while walking slowly to her “I went to work”

“If you dear come close, I will injure you!” Said Pearl,

but Mike kept coming and holding her hand he looked into her blue eyes smiled softly, and said “Look, I promise not to come back late again” Mike said calmly,

“But what do you do?” Pearl asked

Mike said, “I’m a….”

“Salesman! Right?” Pearl said angrily and continued “Because that’s what you are going to say, Mike! Mike! Mike! (pushing him away slowly) look I am your wife, let me into your life!!! We can’t keep hiding things from each other!”

Mike now broken by his wife's words, sat on the couch and said “Look just know that what I am doing is for our good and our son’s future”

“Yeah right!” Pearl said and walked away angrily,

as she walked away Mike asked, “How was work at the hospital today?” But she didn’t respond.

Mike prepared dinner for himself because his wife won’t. He sat down on the couch and decided to watch the television and as he put on the television and grabbed his cutlery, he heard a voice from the television screen that shocked him.

He heard “Good day the good citizens of London, my name is billionaire Andrew and I am happy to announce that my diamond necklace, which was lost years ago, is found and I am auctioning it off to the highest bidder two weeks from now”

Mike immediately remembered the voice and he looked at the television screen properly and another person came up and said “Good day everyone I am police commissioner Reynold and I will ensure that there will be security and no one will steal it again”

Now Mike is no longer eating but angry and he says “You both planned it right? Don’t worry we will know, if you're so-called security is tight” he turns off the television and vows to avenge his father.

The next morning, Mike left the house earlier than any other day and went straight to a friend’s shop. He met Manson, his friend,

“Did you watch the news last night?” Mike asked

Manson answered, “Yes..yes I did, wait, those men were….”

“Yes they were the ones that framed my father and killed him in prison” Mike answered

“Oh my Gosh!” Manson exclaimed, “So what you are going to do?” asked Manson,

“Nothing really, I am going to check how tight is their security” Mike replied calmly,

“What... what do you mean by that?” Manson asked while adjusting his glasses.

Mike laughed and said, “We are going to steal it”.
