Chapter One

"Ares!"

He chuckles knowing very well who it was that was summoning him. He thought he wouldn't see him off.

It's been three years since the incident, three years since his life fucked up and him ending up in a highly secured prison cell all thanks to the DuPont.

Huffing out a sigh, Ares turns to face the old man that is around his late eighties. Apollo is his name or Master as Ares calls him.

The man that taught him everything he needed and much more to know. Apollo has moduled Ares into the worst, cause best won't fit with the now turned cold person he is.

When Ares was first brought to the clutches of the damn prison, he was just some meekish innocent and weak crap.

He had gone through a series of abuse, punishment and bullying from the other prisons yet somehow Master always was there, not to help him rather show him how weak he was.

Master had taunted him times without number it got to an extent where Ares was on a verge of commiting suicide yet for some reason Master didn't let him.

You could say Master was more like a pain in the ass or rather an old son of bitch.

Most prisoners had their gangs and a leader to order them around but the Master was different. He is old, but his age didn't stop him from exuding confidence and power.

No one dared to mess with him or get into his space. He has no minion or leader always on his own with his usual scowl.

But as time went one Ares began to get closer to him and soon enough they formed a bond.

Ares never thought they'd get along but then the old man had taught him a lot more that he'd forever be thankful of.

Apollo taught Ares how to defend and stand up for himself as well as how to clean up his mess when done.

Ares learnt martial arts from his master for the past three years. They'd train day after night but mostly at midnight when all prisoners were asleep and guards had less attention paid.

According to Master A, if Ares wanted to be with him then he had to learn from him. Master A saw something in Areas that he had never seen, something he had been looking for and when he pointed it out, he knew he had to pass it on.

"Master" Ares bowed as Apollo got closer.

A slight smile plastered on Apollo's lips as he reciprocated Ares' gesture.

"You didn't think I'd let you off without a farewell now did you?"

Ares chuckled. "Thank you master."

Apollo waved it off, "I'll see you on the other side?"

Ares nods, "That is?"

"When the time comes."

As always. Those words have to be his master's most likable words.

Yes definitely.

Apollo and his mind puzzles, you never can tell with him. He's a secretive, intriguing old man.

Ares laughed, a small one. "Right."

"Remember, you must use what you learned for the good or evil cause each comes with a price and when it's time to pay, you must decide" He warns.

"I don't want you making the same mistake I did Ares. There's goodness stored in you but not as much as the evil and for that, you mustn't let it consume you" Apollo says his words calm and composed yet soaked with firmness.

Ares nods, "I'll keep that in mind"

"You should get going" Apollo ushers.

"Goodbye then"

"Farewell"

Ares gave him a last stare before turning on his shoe. He walked some distance away from the prison area heading for the bus stop.

He twisted and turned on the ring Apollo had gifted him on the night before his departure. He had made mention that he must always have it on.

It's an ancestral ring adorned with an intricately carved dragon pattern. He warned him to keep it safe as it was something crucial that should be cherished.

He pulled the hood of his hoodie walking into the bus.

"Tickets please" the driver inquiries.

Ares drugged the pockets of his slacks pulling out the ticket and passing it to the driver before walking his way In.

He sat at the distant end of the bus near the window. Huffing out a sigh his eyes caught in a couple that sat by the side of him unable to keep their hands to themselves.

It reminded him of Camila, his ex-girlfriend that was snatched from him by the brat Cristian DuPont.

The guy that sent him to prison and snatched his love away from him all because of his father's influence and wealth.

The thought of him made Ares fist balled and his jaw hardened.

That fateful night will forever be engraved in Ares's head.

As they got to Bleecker Street in his parents home where he got off.

He made sure that his hood was intact so as not to run into anyone, a friend or so.

His heart skipped a bit as he sighted the front door of his parents house. It's been three years not much has changed other than that once glossy flower filled lawn now dull and unkept.

His mother is a botanist, her love for flowers never ceased to amaze Ares as she could spend hours depicting how much they mean to her.

Ares sighed walking further to the doorstep. As he got there he paused for a moment.

Will they be happy to see him?

When he had first gotten arrested, his parents visited twice a week, mostly his mum as his Dad was always cut up with work.

But they stopped visiting after a few months of him being jailed. He had tried reaching out countless times yet to no avail till he eventually gave up.

His cold knuckles slightly knocked on the wooden door patiently waiting for response.

None came.

He tried once again before he heard her light voice.

"Who's there?"

It took some moments before the door slipped open, his mother coming into view.

He didn't know how much he had missed her till he saw her. Ares remained mute for a second waiting for a reaction as she looked at him.

"Who is it?" She ran her hands in the air trying to reach out to the person.

"Ares?"
