On the screen, Logan groaned and rolled onto his side. His face was bleeding on one side as there was a long scrape from his cheek to jaw.

He spat blood onto the tile and pushed himself back up, using the cracked pillar for support.

The king was already coming for him again, his pale eyes now streaked red from the grenade blast, with blood running steadily down his side and arm from the earlier cuts.

"You don't quit," the king said, almost admiring it despite himself.

"Can't," Logan muttered,

"How many sightings?" Pa Lancaster asked, trying so much to keep his voice calm. "Three so far," Bright said through the phone. "Different men each time we do see them watching the building. One of them was seen talking to a low-level employee near the parking structure two nights ago."Pa Lancaster's grip on the phone tightened. "Do we know what they want?""Not yet," Bright admitted. "However,bi have looked into how zayne Calloway operates, and I noticed that he doesn't send men to watch a building for no reason.”There was a slight pause and then Bright's voice came again “which means, he is definitely plotting something, probably a revenge or something of that nature. “Pa Lancaster was silent for a long moment, staring at the wall across from him, his mind working fast.Zayne Calloway had just lost his company. He'd lost his family name from every branch, and every document. Logan had taken that from him, cleanly and completely. Of course, a man like Zayne wouldn't just accept

Now that the last king was dead, the screen appeared in front of Logan even without him clicking the green button on the bracelet. [Congratulations. You have successfully defeated the Last King and completed the first trial.]Below it, Logan could see another line. [Proceed to the second trial.]Logan stared at it, his chest still heaving, blood drying on his face. Nicholas stood beside him, gripping his shoulder. "You did it," he said again, like he still didn't believe it. "You actually did it.""Yeah," Logan muttered. "Ask me again in an hour when I can feel my legs."“Well I think this is where we part ways” Nicholas muttered. Logan raised a brow, but he completely understood what Nicholas meant. So with that, he took a deep breath and pressed the proceed option.*** ***Outside, in the white room, Von Peters stood in front of the main console, his fingers moving over the small device strapped to his wrist like a watch. He glanced sideways once, making sure the other family re

"Too many people watching."“I see” the king narrowed his eyes. And then quickly, Logan pulled another grenade, pin out, and threw it low this time, aiming for the king's feet instead of his chest. The king jumped back from it on instinct, and the explosion caught his legs instead, knocking him briefly off balance.Logan used the opening to sprint past him, snatching his sword up off the tile where it had landed earlier. His hand wrapped around the grip just as the king

In the past, whenever a candidate got to this stage of the trial, they usually went with brute force, charging in with all their soldiers. They would usually overpower the last king which usually resulted in many of the soldiers losing their lives. Another thing was, the family representatives who had witnessed a few trials before can not even tell their candidates of what to expect during trials. This was because the trials were selected at random, there are over fifty to hundred trials of which only three were randomly selected by a member of the keepers, a person like Von Peters. So none of the family representatives was sure of which trial to expect until the trial began. No one expected that the first trial would be the forest of fallen kings. And in the history of the forest of the fallen kings, no one has ever decided and proposed a duel with the last king. Proposing a duel is no different from suicide. Because there was absolutely no way a single person would be able to

"They caught up. We've got numbers now."Logan remained quiet, his eyes were fixed on the Last King, who stood in the center of the room with two thin cuts along his side and arm, blood still trickling slowly. The king's pale eyes moved across the newly arrived soldiers,”new arrivals, interesting” Earlier Logan had thought about the whole thing, he knew with their numbers, they might stand a chance in defeating the last king, however it would come at a large cost. Logan knew he would lose a whole lot of sol

"Sir," Vincent said, stepping in front of Damon before the twenty soldiers could even move. "Enough. This is enough."Damon looked at him, clearly unbothered. "Get out of my way, Vincent.""You've already lost ten men," Vincent said, his voice already shaking now, not from fear but from anger. "For what? A pattern? You could've studied him from a distance. You didn't need to send them in to die.""But I did," Damon said simply. "And now I know how he moves. That's worth more than ten lives to me."Vincent's jaw tightened, he couldn't believe what he had just heard. "You don't mean that.""I do." Damon muttered in a low but firm tone. "Stand down. Vincent"Vincent stared at him for a long moment, his hands curling into fists at his sides. He couldn't believe Damon would truly go on with this.Damon had sacrificed nearly all of the soldiers even before they got to the last king and now he was still sacrificing more. Vincent gritted his teeth unsure of what to do at first, but after a w
