But Declan did not stop. His fist came down on the executive again and again. The executive tried to shield his face with his arms but it was useless.

“Please…” He begged, blood flowing through his split lip, “Stop. I can't…I can't…”

His voice faded and his eyes rolled back then his body went limp on the carpet.

Declan stood over him, breathing hard, his knuckles covered in blood.

The executive lay motionless save for the shallow rise and fall of his chest.

Georgina stared at the scene, her eyes wide from shock and fear.

“Declan,” she whispered, “You’re going to meet a tragic end. He's an executive at Elyxir Corporation. They'll come after you. They'll destroy you for this,”

Declan turned to her. "You're my friend, Georgina. A good friend. I'll protect you no matter what happens. I don't care about the danger or the cost. I just care that you're safe.”

Georgina's eyes filled with tears as she stared at him. But these weren't tears of fear anymore. She leaned against Declan and sigh
