Soon, Jake and Dorothy arrived at the Exquisite Lounge.
Jake drove directly into the private parking area before leading Dorothy through the VIP entrance. A staff member immediately greeted them and escorted them to one of the most exclusive private rooms in the lounge. The moment they stepped inside, the atmosphere became lively. Several old friends had already arrived. When they saw Jake personally bringing Dorothy in, their expressions immediately changed and whispers spread through the room. "Isn't that Dorothy?" "And she's here with Jake?" "They really do seem close." The looks exchanged between the guests said everything. No one needed an explanation. To everyone present, it was obvious that Dorothy and Jake shared a special relationship. After all, Jake had personally driven across the city to pick her up on her birthday. He had brought her here himself and stayed by her side as though they had never been separated. Dorothy noticed the curious looks but didn't bother explaining. She simply walked over to an empty seat in the corner and quietly sat down. She had imagined this reunion countless times. Jake had been her first love. After years apart, she had expected to feel overwhelming excitement the moment she saw him again. Yet, she didn't. The happiness was there, but it wasn't nearly as intense as she had expected. Instead, her mind kept returning to the argument with Raphael. His cold expression and his indifferent voice. The way he had simply told her to leave. And most importantly, the fact that he hadn't even bothered to come downstairs to see her off. That detail bothered her more than she wanted to admit. In the past, Raphael would never have allowed her to leave without trying everything possible to stop her. He would follow her, apologize, and beg! Perhaps even call her repeatedly throughout the night. But tonight? Nothing. He hadn't even come downstairs. Dorothy frowned. Why was he suddenly acting like this? What's wrong? A familiar voice interrupted her thoughts and Dorothy looked up. It was Lillian Baker, her best friend who had just taken the seat beside her. "You don't look happy at all." Dorothy forced a smile. "I'm fine." "You're clearly not fine." Lillian leaned closer. "Did something happen?" Dorothy hesitated before finally sighing. "It's Raphael." The moment she mentioned his name, her expression darkened. "He lost his temper with me." Lillian immediately frowned. "What did he do?" Dorothy began recounting the argument. She described how Raphael had tried to stop her from going out, how he had insisted that she couldn't simply do whatever she wanted, and how he had ultimately told her to leave. She deliberately left out several details and presented herself as the victim. Lillian's expression immediately hardened. "He's unbelievable. Raphael has always been suspicious. He's selfish, controlling, and completely unreasonable. You're his wife, not his property!" "If you want to go out with your friends, you should be able to. What right does he have to control you?" Each word strengthened Dorothy's resentment and she slowly nodded. "Exactly." Her expression gradually became firmer. "I won't forgive him so easily this time." Lillian immediately agreed. "Don't." She reached for her phone. "If he wants to act arrogant, let him learn a lesson." Dorothy looked at her curiously. "What are you doing?" "I'm calling him." Lillian dialed Raphael's number. She wanted to pressure him into lowering his pride, apologizing to Dorothy, and coming to his senses. After a few rings, the call connected. "Hello?" Raphael's cold voice came through the phone. Lillian immediately straightened. "Raphael, this is Lillian Baker." There was a brief silence. Then Raphael asked flatly, his tone impatient. "Why are you calling me?" Lillian glanced at Dorothy. She could sense that everyone nearby was quietly listening. "I'm calling because of what happened between you and Dorothy." Raphael gave a cold laugh. "And what exactly does that have to do with you?" Lillian was caught off guard. "I'm her best friend." "So?" Lillian's expression darkened. "You shouldn't treat Dorothy like this. She's your wife. You should apologize to her instead of throwing a tantrum!" Raphael's voice instantly turned cold. "Who the hell do you think you are? Do you think being Dorothy's friend gives you the right to interfere in my marriage?"Latest Chapter
Chapter 12
That night, Dorothy lay awake on the narrow, worn-out bed in the Brooks family home, unable to fall asleep. She shifted for what felt like the hundredth time! The mattress was painfully hard. Every time she turned over, the springs beneath her creaked loudly, and the thin pillow offered almost no comfort. The sheets smelled faintly musty, while the cramped room felt stuffy and uncomfortable. Dorothy frowned in disgust. How had she ever lived like this? She pushed herself upright and glanced around the room. The walls were stained in several places. Old furniture occupied nearly every corner, leaving barely enough space to move around. Clothes were piled carelessly on a chair, and several empty bottles sat near the doorway. The entire house looked shabby, filthy, and cramped! It was nothing like the luxurious apartment she had become accustomed to. A bitter feeling slowly rose in her chest. She had lived with Raphael for years and grown accustomed to spacious rooms, expens

As they approached the Brooks family home, Lilian moved closer to Dorothy and lowered her voice. "Don't let this get to you. You can't give in now.""What do you mean?""I mean exactly what I said. Don't apologize or chase after him. And definitely don't let him make you believe he's actually going to divorce you."Lilian shook her head confidently. "There's no way Raphael will go through with it.""You saw what happened tonight." Dorothy frowned."I did.""That bastard threw me out and even revoked my access to the apartment."Lilian remained unconvinced. "That doesn't matter. Think about how much Raphael sacrificed for you.""When he insisted on marrying you, he openly fell out with his parents. He didn't just argue with them. He practically severed ties with his own family. He even gave up his position as heir to the wealthiest family in the state. Do you remember that?"Dorothy slowly nodded."How could someone who sacrificed that much possibly stop loving you overnight?" Lilian's

Dorothy's face turned crimson. "What is the meaning of this?!"She stormed toward the security guards, pointing furiously at the suitcases. "Who gave you permission to touch my belongings?"The guards remained expressionless and Dorothy's voice rose. "I live here! You have no right to stop me from entering my own home!"One of the guards calmly shook his head. "I'm sorry, ma'am. We've simply been instructed to deny you access."“Who the hell gave you that order? Who?!” Dorothy’s voice trembled with fury. “If you don’t tell me, I’ll file a formal complaint against every one of you! Do you even know who I am?”The guards exchanged a glance. They had clearly dealt with angry residents before, so they weren't in anyway moved. "You're free to file whatever complaint you wish," one of them replied calmly. "But we're only following the instructions given to us."Dorothy clenched her fists. “I said, whose instructions? Tell me!”The guard hesitated for a moment before finally answering, “Mr.

Raphael really told Dorothy to leave.Apparently, he even told her they were getting divorced tomorrow.Do you think he's finally serious this time?At first, most people remained skeptical. “You don’t know anything about what happened between us. Yet you have the nerve to call me and lecture me?” Lillian’s face flushed with embarrassment and anger. “Raphael, I’m only trying to—” “Stay out of my business!” Raphael cut her off sharply. “And stop acting as though you have some kind of authority over me!” Lillian opened her mouth, stunned. She never imagined the same Raphael she knew, would react so aggressively. Before she could gather herself enough to respond, Raphael’s voice came through the phone again, colder than before. “Don’t call me again, you shameless bitch!” The line went dead. For several seconds, Lillian simply stared at her phone, unable to process what had just happened. She had been involved with several men over the years, including married ones, and yet she had never had anyone throw such a blunt and degrading insult at her face. No man had ever dared call her a bitch so openly and without the slightest hesitation. The humiliation burned th
