"You're sleeping in the storage room tonight, and I don't want to hear any complaints!"
Jayce Walker stood at the bottom of the grand staircase in the Barker family mansion, his worn shoes leaving small puddles of rainwater on the marble floor. The young woman glaring down at him, Hailey Barker, looked like she wanted to throw something at his head.
"Hailey, I just need a dry towel," Jayce said calmly, water dripping from his hair. "I got caught in the storm while making deliveries."
"Deliveries! That's all you ever talk about!" Hailey stomped down three steps, her designer dress swishing around her legs. "Do you know how embarrassing it is? My husband rides around on a rusty motorcycle delivering food to people! My friends laugh at me!"
Jayce wiped his face with his sleeve. He had known this marriage would be hard. Six months ago, Old Master Barker had called him to the hospital and made a strange request. Marry Hailey. Protect her. Keep your real identity hidden. Jayce had agreed, but he never expected Hailey to hate him so much.
"I'm sorry you feel embarrassed," Jayce said quietly.
"Sorry? SORRY?" Hailey's voice got louder. "Sorry doesn't pay bills! Sorry doesn't buy nice things! Sorry doesn't make you less of a loser!"
A door opened on the second floor. An older woman stepped out, her lips curved in a cold smile. Rose Barker, Hailey's mother, walked down the stairs like a queen.
"Still arguing with the delivery boy, darling?" Rose said, patting Hailey's shoulder. "Don't waste your energy. Tomorrow, we're meeting with that handsome lawyer, Richard Stone. He'll help us get rid of this pest."
"Divorce papers?" Jayce asked.
"Finally, something gets through that thick skull of yours," Rose laughed. "Yes, divorce papers. My father was crazy when he forced this marriage. But now he's too sick to stop us. Soon, you'll be out of our lives forever."
Hailey looked at Jayce with cold eyes. "I never wanted you. I was supposed to marry Damson Cole, the son of the Cole Diamond Company. But grandfather ruined everything by making me marry you instead!"
Jayce said nothing. He simply nodded and walked toward the back of the house where the storage room was. Behind him, he heard Rose whisper to Hailey, but he caught every word.
"Don't worry, dear. Once we get the divorce, and once your grandfather dies, we'll sell Barker Medical Group to the Henderson family. We'll be rich, and you can marry anyone you want."
Jayce's jaw tightened, but he kept walking. In the small storage room, he closed the door and pulled out his phone. Three missed calls from someone named "R.H." and two messages.
First message: "Sir, the Tokyo deal is finished. Thirty billion transferred to your account. Walker Global Technologies is now the biggest tech company in Asia."
Second message: "Emergency. The Governor's wife needs the Miracle Healer. They're offering twenty million for the surgery. Should I accept?"
Jayce typed back quickly: "Accept. I'll be at Memorial Hospital at dawn. And R.H., increase security. Something feels wrong."
He put his phone away and lay down on the small cot. The room smelled like old boxes and cleaning supplies. But Jayce had slept in worse places. During his years of medical training in the mountains with Master Chen, he had slept on cold stone floors while learning the ancient healing arts that made him the legendary Miracle Healer.
His phone buzzed again. A new message from an unknown number: "I know who you are, Jayce Walker. I know about Walker Global Technologies. I know about the Miracle Healer. Meet me at Green Park tomorrow at noon, or I'll tell everyone your secret. - A Friend"
Jayce stared at the message. Someone had found him out. But who? And how?
He heard footsteps outside his door. Then Hailey's voice, talking on her phone.
"Yes, Damson, I can meet you tomorrow. No, my fake husband won't know anything. He's too stupid to notice. We can have lunch at the Plaza Hotel, just like old times."
The footsteps walked away. Jayce closed his eyes. Hailey was meeting Damson Cole. The man she really loved. The man she wanted to marry.
His phone vibrated one more time. Another message from R.H.: "Sir, we have a problem. Someone named Stephen Winchestar just landed in the city. He's asking questions about the Walker family. He's dangerous."
Jayce sat up quickly. Stephen Winchestar. That name made his blood run cold. Stephen was the man who destroyed Jayce's family ten years ago. The man who killed Jayce's parents. The man Jayce had been hunting for years.
And now Stephen was here.

"Are you sure about this plan, boss?"Leonard stood in the mansion's security room, looking at the monitors showing every corner of the property. Jayce's plan was risky, maybe too risky, but Leonard knew better than to argue when Jayce had that determined look in his eyes."I'm sure," Jayce said, checking the weapons Leonard had prepared. "Stephen thinks he's walking into a helpless situation. He thinks with Rose arrested, the family will be weak and scared. He doesn't know we're ready for him.""What about Hailey? She should leave with the FBI.""She won't go. I already tried." Jayce smiled a little. "She says married people face danger together.""She's braver than I thought.""She's stronger than anyone thought. Including herself."In the living room, Hailey was talking to her grandfather. Old Master Barker had woken up and demanded to know what was happening. When Hailey told him everything about Rose's arrest and Stephen's plan, the old man's face showed no surprise."I knew your

"FBI! Open the door!"Agent Jason Cross stood outside the Barker mansion with six other agents. The police had called him after receiving reports of screaming from the house. When he heard the address, he knew it was connected to his investigation of Stephen Winchestar.Leonard opened the door. "Agent Cross, thank you for coming so quickly.""Where's Jayce Walker?""In the living room with Rose Barker. She's been screaming for the past ten minutes, claiming we're holding her hostage."Jason walked into the living room to find Rose sitting on the couch, crying dramatically. Hailey sat across from her, looking disgusted. Jayce stood by the window, calm as always."Mrs. Barker, I'm Agent Jason Cross with the FBI. Are you being held here against your will?""Yes! These people won't let me leave! They're accusing me of terrible things!" Rose pointed at Jayce. "That man is dangerous! He threatened me!""Is this true, Mr. Walker?""No, Agent Cross. Rose is free to leave anytime she wants. Bu

"Emma! Emma, can you hear me?"Leonard Warden pressed his ear against the storage closet door. He had been searching the mansion for the past hour after Emma didn't show up for her morning duties. The other servants said she always woke up early, so her absence was strange.Inside the closet, Emma heard Leonard's voice and wanted to scream, but she was too scared. What if Richard Stone was nearby? What if he heard her and hurt her brother?"Boss, I found something," Leonard spoke into his phone. "There's a locked closet on the first floor. Someone changed the lock recently. It doesn't match the other doors.""Break it down," Jayce's voice came through the phone. "Now."Leonard stepped back and kicked the door hard. The wood cracked but didn't break. He kicked again, and this time the door flew open. Emma was inside, curled up on the floor, her face red from crying."Emma!" Leonard knelt beside her. "Are you hurt? What happened?""My brother," Emma whispered, her voice hoarse from cryi

"Mrs. Rose, we have a problem."Rose Barker sat in her private study, talking on the phone with someone. It was past midnight, and everyone in the mansion was supposed to be asleep. But Emma, the young maid, was hiding in the hallway outside, listening to every word."What kind of problem?" Rose asked, her voice annoyed."Damson failed. Not only did he not get Hailey to agree to the merger, but he got thrown out of the Plaza Hotel. Apparently, Jayce Walker really does own it."Rose was quiet for a moment. "So the rumors are true. That pathetic delivery boy is actually a billionaire.""It seems so. Stephen is very interested in this information. He wants to move up the timeline.""Move it up? We agreed to wait until my father dies naturally! If we move too fast, people will suspect something!""Stephen doesn't care. He says if Jayce Walker is involved, we need to act now before he figures out too much." The voice on the phone paused. "He's coming to the mansion tomorrow. He wants to ta

"You look absolutely beautiful tonight, Hailey."Damson Cole smiled across the fancy restaurant table, his eyes moving over Hailey's red dress. She felt uncomfortable but tried to smile back. Her mother had insisted she come to this dinner, saying it was important for "family business.""Thank you, Damson," Hailey said quietly. "But I still don't understand why we're here. You said you wanted to discuss business, but you haven't mentioned anything about business yet.""Can't a man enjoy dinner with a beautiful woman first?" Damson reached across the table and tried to take her hand. Hailey pulled back."Damson, I'm married.""To that delivery boy? Come on, Hailey. We both know that marriage is a joke." Damson leaned forward, his voice becoming softer. "You and I were supposed to be together. We dated for two years. We were happy. Then your grandfather ruined everything by forcing you to marry that nobody.""Jayce is not a nobody," Hailey said, surprising herself. After seeing Jayce sa

"If you want your daughter to live, Mr. Henry, you need to trust me completely."Jayce stood in the private operating room at Memorial Hospital, looking at the small girl on the table. Lily Henry looked so tiny and fragile, her face pale, tubes connected to machines that beeped softly. Robert Henry stood beside him, his eyes red from crying."I trust you," Robert said, his voice shaking. "Please save her.""Everyone out except my assistant," Jayce said firmly. He had called Leonard to help him. Leonard knew how to handle the special instruments Jayce used for his healing procedures. The nurses looked confused. One of them, an older woman named Nurse Patricia, frowned. "Sir, hospital rules say we must be present during all surgeries.""This is not a normal surgery," Jayce said, pulling on his surgical gloves. "What I'm about to do, you won't find in any medical book. Either you leave, or the girl dies. Choose."Nurse Patricia looked at Robert, who nodded desperately. She and the other
