First Baptism

The sun barely peeked over the horizon, spilling gentle light through the high windows of the royal dressing chamber. Jay stood on a raised platform, his hands trembling slightly as the maid fastened the final clasps of his ceremonial robe. The fabric shimmered subtly, threads woven with threads of moonlight and magic, the kind that marked this day as monumental.

“This looks… perfect,” the maid whispered, bowing slightly. “Your Highness, you’ll shine brighter than the sun itself.”

Jay’s chest tightened, half from pride, half from nerves. Seven years had passed since he first awoke in this world, seven years of training, growth, and learning. Now he was eighteen, standing on the brink of a ritual that would define his magical and spiritual existence: his first baptism.

Seraphine had been the first to arrive, adjusting the delicate folds of his robe. “I can’t believe it’s finally today,” she said, voice soft but vibrating with Alpha energy. “You’ve grown so much… and now, the world will see it too.”

Theo appeared next, holding a ceremonial scroll of guidance. “Stay calm, Jay. Observe the ritual, absorb the blessings, and remember the teachings. The ceremony reflects more than just power it reflects your soul.”

Yven, ever the dramatic one, clapped loudly and gave him a mock bow. “The little prince is no longer little! Today, he officially becomes our dazzling Omega!”

Celeste, quietly precise as always, handed him a small pouch. “This contains sacred herbs for protection and clarity. Don’t fumble them.”

Even Aldrin, the crown prince, approached with a serious expression, though a faint smile betrayed his pride. “You’ve trained long, little brother. This day is the culmination of your dedication. But remember the baptism marks a beginning, not an end.”

Jay inhaled sharply, trying to absorb all of their attention and care without losing himself. Luther lingered behind, hands clasped, face pale yet radiating a nervous devotion that had become familiar over the years.

“Alright… I’m ready,” Jay said quietly, voice barely above the whisper of magic streaming through the room.

The procession moved toward the baptismal grounds, a sacred sanctuary that had long been revered across Astrelia. The area itself was carved from crystal and stone, floating gently above the surface of a shimmering lake. Light refracted off the waters below, scattering in soft rainbows across the walls of the sanctuary.

At the center stood a priest, robes embroidered with sacred runes and symbols of the divine. Behind him, the air shimmered with quiet, pulsing energy. This was the place where the goddess herself sometimes manifested, a sacred convergence of mortal and divine power. Today, it was Jay’s turn.

The priest raised his hands. “Jay Astrelia, child of destiny, today you step into a covenant with the divine, a bond that transcends mortal power and defines the course of your life.”

Jay stepped forward, trying to steady the pulse of his heart. He knelt on the crystalline platform as the priest began the ritual, chanting sacred words in a language older than kingdoms. The air thickened, a palpable energy pressing against his skin, yet not heavy more like warmth and guidance rolled into one.

Then, as the final syllables echoed through the sanctuary, a voice, rich and gentle, resonated from every corner of the space.

“It has been five hundred years since my gaze touched upon your line,” the goddess spoke, ethereal and infinite. Her presence shimmered, a mixture of light, shadow, and pure magic, weaving through the sanctuary like living threads. “Your soul… is unique.”

Jay froze, breath catching in his throat. Does she know? Does she know I’m not from this world? The thought flashed in his mind, panic prickling like needles across his skin.

The goddess chuckled softly, the sound like wind through silver leaves. “Fear not, child of two destinies. You are Versa, born to carry and to create, to give life and receive it in equal measure.”

Gasps echoed among his siblings. Alphas and Betas alike, even Lucien and Aldrin, looked at him with wide eyes, awed by the divine revelation. Only Jay remained unmoved on the outside because he already knew, thanks to the ever-vigilant system guiding him but internally, the weight of confirmation made his chest tighten.

“You… you know I’ve always known,” Jay muttered, voice quiet, almost shy under the divine presence.

“Knowledge is but a part of the journey,” the goddess replied. Her light pulsed, soft yet insistent. “But heed this, child: trust not the mysterious being that watches and guides you unseen. Its purpose is hidden, its loyalty uncertain.”

Jay’s pulse skipped. The system… she’s talking about the system. He gritted his teeth slightly, nodding inwardly, understanding the warning even as his mind argued with it.

“Enjoy your life,” the goddess continued, her voice wrapping around him like warmth and wind and rain all at once. “You were destined to be loved. Not just by your mates, not just by your family, but by the world itself. Receive my blessing: all who bind themselves to you, those chosen as mates, will gain strength beyond measure. But heed this betrayal shall bring ruin upon them. Life, fragile and precious, will not forgive deceit.”

A shiver ran down Jay’s spine. Even in his old life, he had never felt a warning as personal as this. He swallowed hard.

“And your children,” the goddess continued, her voice a song of eternity, “shall never know abandonment, anxiety, or neglect. Their world shall be one of love, understanding, and purpose, shaped by the compassion they inherit from you.”

Tears prickled at Jay’s eyes not of fear, but awe. His heart felt impossibly heavy and light at once, charged with responsibility he had never known and freedom he had never dared hope for.

The priest lowered the sacred chalice, pouring water imbued with divine energy over Jay’s head. The liquid glimmered like liquid starlight, imbued with the blessings and promises of the goddess herself. Jay shivered as it touched him, feeling every cell in his body resonate with newfound power and potential.

The goddess’s presence faded slowly, leaving behind a residual warmth that lingered in his chest, a quiet certainty that even though chaos, love, and trials would come, he would never be alone.

His siblings surrounded him, hands brushing lightly, eyes filled with tears and pride. Seraphine’s hand lingered on his shoulder, Aldrin’s stern face softened, Theo’s calm gaze carried a rare sparkle of emotion, and even Yven’s theatrics were touched with genuine sentiment. Celeste’s hand rested lightly over his, steady and reassuring.

Jay exhaled, a smile slowly forming. This was his life now a life filled with family, with love, with power, and with challenges that would test him in ways unimaginable. But for the first time, he felt ready.

He looked around, meeting each sibling’s gaze, and then whispered under his breath to the air where the goddess’s presence had lingered, “I’ll honor it. I’ll live well, I’ll love, and I’ll protect all of it.”

The priest completed the final words of the ceremony, stepping back as Jay rose. Water still glimmered faintly on his skin, shimmering under the crystal light.

“The first baptism is complete,” the priest announced. “Go forth, Jay Astrelia, with the blessings of the divine and the strength of your lineage.”

Are you awake?” Luther’s voice was low, almost hesitant.Jay sat up, rubbing his eyes. “Couldn’t sleep again?”Luther nodded, hesitating at the door. “Should I… stay?”Jay lifted a corner of the blanket, smirking slightly. “Only if you're not here to guard me.
