        Meeting Horror

The Ross mansion was ever so lit with colourful crimson lights and the blaring sound of classical music filling the entire space.

Several guests filled the dinner hall that had been set for this particular business meeting and they were having a great time bonding and talking about business.

Scarlet Ross, the first and sassy daughter of the Ross dynasty, walked out into the dinner wearing a red dress that hugged her body slightly, bringing her contours to plain sight including the bulgy area around her belly.

Her style was exquisite and her body framed beautifully.

She went about greeting her parents' guests and smiling with flair and a commanding aura.

“Oh… is that a baby bump I see staring at me ?” One of the guests mentioned it with a charming smile.

Scarlet nodded excitedly, smiling back at him.

“You did see right, Uncle Jonas.”

He was her father's long time partner and had now become like family to them. So, she would always refer to him as ‘uncle’.

“You look great being pregnant, baby. Just look at that beautiful glow on your face.”

Scarlet blushed at the sound of those beautiful words coming from him. Her smile was short-lived when she caught a glimpse of her husband's dumbstruck gaze.

“Oh, Kia,” she mused with a glint of sarcasm and looked past him, going on to other guests to greet them as well.

Other guests added their compliments about how beautiful she looked and how much she was glowing.

Kia had a glass of wine in his hand when he heard the compliment being showered on his wife.

It left him shocked and he spat his drink, laughing boisterously as he had no idea that the few times they had been intimate was enough to get her pregnant already.

Kia could not keep his excitement down. The moment Scarlet got closer to him, he stood up and extended his arm with a glitter of joy etched on his face. He wanted to hug her and kiss her all over her pretty face to show her how excited he was that they were having a baby.

His gaze fell on his mother in-law, Valentina Ross and he could see the contempt oozing from her countenance. He simply withdrew his hands and sat back down beside his wife.

His heart was palpitating with excitement and he could not wait for the business dinner to end so that he could express his joy.

Kia leaned into his wife's ear and whispered, “I do see the glow now,” and placed his hands on hers.

“Put yourself together Kia,” Scarlet warned with a stern look on her face.

Kia was slightly surprised and he pulled his hands away gently, assuming “it must have to be her hormones raging.”

The rest of the business dinner was filled with exciting business talks and drinking and music.

Kai could not wait for the long time to finally come to an end and the guests were gone so that he could hug his wife with pride and joy.

The moment the last set of guests bade Ross' goodnight and the butler shut the door, Kai turned to his wife and with a vivacious smile, he placed his arms around her.

“I told you earlier to get a hold of yourself,” Scarlet grudgingly uttered, wriggling herself out of his grasp and pushing him away. Disdain was etched on her face.

A bedazzled Kai gazed at her with perplexity, “you did not tell me that you're pregnant. Why did you keep it away from me?”

Valentina's cackling laughter cut through his veins and he turned to her, blue with embarrassment, his dazzled gaze catching her haughty countenance.

“Are you that dumb?” She asked him, scanning him haughtily, “can't you see that the bumb is too protruded to be only a few weeks old considering you both have only been married for a few weeks old?”

Kai could not keep his puzzlement to himself.

“Please ma, would you mind explaining better what you mean, I can barely understand.”

His lips were shaking with confusion.

“Do not be silly! Scarlet is four months pregnant and that means you are not the father!”

Kai felt a rush of panic in his chest as his hands suddenly began to tremble.

He turned to Scarlet, the glow in his eyes fading into sadness.

“What is your mother saying? Is this true?”

Scarlet laughed wickedly, shaking her head with disgust.

“How would you think that I would birth a child for a man like you? You are definitely sick to have imagined that! You are simply a bunch of trash that I picked up to hide the situation I found myself in.”

Kai was shaded by confusion and could not put his scattered thoughts together.

“What are you even saying? We are married aren't we? How can you possibly be pregnant for another man?”

“Don't you get it?” She slammed him with haughtiness reflecting in her voice. “I married you nit because I wanted to, but because I just had to settled down with any man available to keep my secret away from the world.”

Disorientation gripped Kai as he looked at his wife withem utter disbelief.

It suddenly felt like he could see his life flashing before him and his trembling hands sought for a wall to lean on.

“Wait a minute, you actually thought I married you for love?” She mocked him, laughing with excessive hysteria.

“You made him feel too entitled to you,” Valentina scoffed at him.

Kai's gaze travelled from his mother-in-law to his wife. His feet had become too wobbly to carry his weight.

“If you were already pregnant, why then did you marry me?”

His voice was shaking.

“Because I had a baby coming from an illicit affair and I did not want to sully my family name. Do you get it?”

“What is there not to get?” Valentina ridiculed him. “You were simply a pun for my daughter.”

Kia could not believe his ears. It seemed like he was on a roller coaster, turning round the entire earth.

He slumped to his floor and planted his face in his palms, shivering with shock.

“This isn't fair, Scarlet! This is so heart wrenching. You could have just told me what my use was. How can I be the father to another man's child?”

“Shut up, you lowly piece of trash! How dare you try to speak?” Scarlet retorted sharply, her disdainful look piercing his soul. “Yes, the pregnancy isn’t yours, but there’s nothing you can do, so suck it up like the jobless loser you are!”

Kai felt his head breaking apart and he groaned from the pain he felt in his heart.

“Look, he is gonna cry .”

Scarlet mocked him, laughing hysterically at his expressions and his emotional depression.

Kia raised his head, revealing his eyes reddened with pain.

“Do you mind telling me who the father of the baby is then?”

His breathing was hard and laboured.

Scarlet rolled her eyes contemptuously at him, “you are damn sill

y to think I would ever tell you that!” She barked at him.

That day, a portal of woes was unlocked for Kia.

His hand trembled before he knocked, a faint, cadenced knock that sounded far louder than he heard. The door creaked open, revealing James Mitchell standing there. "The Meridian Capital deal—a massive piece of the Ross empire—is going to be signed tonight."Kai bent forward, his voice stern but with an underlying passion, "I know, Marcus. Meridian has provided the financial core of Ross's business for much too long. If we manage to scupper this deal, it'll be the first big crack in their hold.""Right," said Marcus, "and I've made arrangements through our insider sources. Layla promised me that several key files and emails that prove fraudulent transactions are in position. They are kept on Meridian's secure servers."Kai’s eyes narrowed, and his tone grew firm, “This coup is the culmination of everything—the long nights spent piecing together evidence, every whispered secret from disillusioned insiders. It’s time to strike at the heart of their machinery.”Then there was Ele

"There's a tangled web in the Ross financial transactions—offshore accounts that are not declared, internal memos plotting unauthorized transfers, and even schedules of clandestine meetings between senior officials. Layla's insider evidence is the key.".There was a pause before Kai answered, "That's the kind of truth we're looking for. If we can attack them where their money is being tampered with and their transactions sealed by fraud, we may finally crack their operation wide open."."Ah yes indeed," Marcus stated. "Let us proceed with our next action right now. You see, the plan to devise an undercover leak to the financial press. I already talked with one of the b
