"Who are you...."
"I'm Ray Salvatore.." he responded calmly.. "What master do you serve Lucian asked?" "What master do I serve?" Ray added with a disgust look over he's face. "Like what? Am I supposed to say Jesus?" "Your from earth!" Kael said. "Of course I'm from earth where else would I have come from, deep shit!" He annoyingly replied. Neither spoke anything for the next minute, then Ray swallowed hard. "So..." His voice echoed awkwardly through the empty woods and he added. "Lucian.." he was meant with silence. "And... Kael." But there was still nothing. "...Am I actually talking to myself?" "... Possibly." He nearly jumped out of his skin as the voice responded. "God. Please would you stop doing that?!" He shouted. "I apologize," Lucian replied calmly followed with a soft chuckle. "This situation is as unfamiliar to us as it is to you." "Oh my would you stop apologizing already." Kael voice interrupted before ray could even reply. "It makes us sound weak." Kael added . Oh! You think?" Lucian answered. "And insulting our successor doesn't?" "Wait... What? Successor?" Ray added with a frown. "I never agreed to succeed anyone." Kael let out a quiet laugh. "Interesting he said, you truly are different." " I don't even know what the hell that means!" Ray replied as he stood up, brushing dirt from his clothes before glancing around the forest. The tress went on and on endlessly in every single direction. No reads, no buildings nothing. "...Can any one of you at least explain where I am?" "Asterra," Lycaun answered. "The world we failed to save." "The world i failed to unite..." Kael corrected. "... Uhmm that's not helping." Ray said but the two voice just ignored him and continued with their argument. "As stubborn as ever." "And you as self-righteous as ever." "... Can you two stop acting like an old married couple for once?" Ray said. "...What is a married couple?" Kael asked. Lucian cleared his throat and said. "...Let's discuss that later." Ray laughed a little, barely a second but it at least eased the crushing pressure in his chest. Maybe he wasn't completely alone after all he thought.. "...Okay!" His smile quickly faded, he looked towards the endless forest. "I'm definitely not in Earth anymore, so...." "Now what?" Almost instantly he finished speaking, the familiar ring ran through his mind [Ding!!] A translucent interface materialized before him. But unlike before, it no longer glitched violently.it now flooded with intertwining gold and crimson light. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ NAME: Unknown RACE: Human REALM: Awakened I TITLE: The Wrong Successor PRIMARY AUTHORITY: None GLITCH RATE: 0.10% DOMAIN: Dormant ...... RAY added. "My own system doesn't even know my name?" "That... Shouldn't happen." Kael added as he's voice became noticeably more serious. "It means the merge damaged more than we thought." The next second, the system interface shifted once again and new words slowly appeared. [System Notice] [User Identity Incomplete] [Please establish your existence through action] "... Through action? What the hell is that even supposed to mean?" Ray asked but non of them Answered Just then, he felt a sudden change in he's environment, the birds immediately stopped signing and so did the insects disappeared. "... What's wrong?" "The birds stopped singing, that means there's a predator around." Lucian added with a now suddenly sharpened voice. "Move!!" "What?" "I said fucking move damn it!" Without thinking any further, Ray immediately threw himself to the side . The next moment a dark blur crashed through the spot where rat has be standing less than a seconds ago. The earth seemed to like explod, the woods splintered. A nearby tree even snapped in half. Ray looked up. "What the..." Standing there where he had been seconds earlier was now a creature unlike anything he'd ever imagined It looked like a wolf, that is if wolves were the size of horses. It's charcoal-black fur was threaded with crimson veins that pulsed like living magma, rows upon rows of jagged teeth protruded from its mouth. It's massive eys glowed golden, staring directly into Ray. In the next second another emerged from behind him, then another and another there were four of them now. "No...!" He exclaimed as his heartbeat thundered. "They're surrounding us," Lucian said. "No, they're hunting," kael corrected. One of the beast lowered itself, it's muscles tensed and it prepare to leap. "Run!" Lucian ordered immediately. "There's no shame in retreating." "Wrong!" Kael scoffed. "If he runs now, they'll chase him. They're predators Lucian they'll enjoy it." "Yeah you of all people should know," Lucian said under his breath. "Then what do you suggest, expert." "Kill the leader!" Kael responded. "He's never held a weapon," Lucain frowned. "He fucking has hands, he has instincts, he has fear, that's enough." "Yeah... Enough to get him killed." Ray spun from one to the other in complete disbelief "Could you two argue later? Christ!" Ray commanded and immediately the wolves attacked. All at once, one lunged from the left, Another from behind and the third circled toward his blind side. His body froze in place. There were too many of them, too fast, he couldn't even think, he couldn't breathe, he was going to die again.. Just when it felt like there was no more hope something happened, not on the outside but from inside. Time seemed to slow down, as his heartbeat echoed like a war drum. Then every movement became strangely clear. The twitch of muscles, the shifting claws, the direction of each leap. It was as if time stopped and he was now viewing even the smallest detail through a microscope. "... Perception." Lucian whispered. "What?" Ray asked "Just trust your eyes," kael immediately Interrupted. "No! Trust your instincts, thinking will make you slow." Just then the nearest beast reached him, its claws slashed toward his throat but his body moved very quickly before even his mind could. He ducked. The claws tore through the air above his head. He rolled beneath the creature's body A heartbeat later and..... *BOOM!* The wolf crashed into another monster, they stumbled into each other, very confused. "...Good..." Kael laughed. "He didn't listen to either of us." "No!..." Lucain replied with a soft smile. "He combined both." Before Ray could understand what they meant , the system materialized once more [Contradiction Detected ...] [Hero Prediction: Defensive Retreat...] [Villain Prediction: Immediate Counterattack..] [User Action: Adaptive Evasion...] [Outcome Exceeds Predicted Probability...] [Contradiction #001: Recorded...] [Glitch Rate Increased: 0.10% ---- 0.35%] ------------------------------------ "... Contradiction?" Ray voiced in disbelief. The words had barely left his month when the largest wolf let out a deafening roar. The whole place vibrated and the killing intent locked completely onto him.Latest Chapter

Ray just simply stood there for a moment. He had expected to see a guild but instead he found a city within a city. The headquarters stretched across several acres, its gleaming white towers connected by elevated walkways of enchanted crystal. Massive training arenas echoed with the clang of swords and the thunder of spells. Hunters in every imaginable armor hurried across the grounds, while robed scholars copied glowing runes onto floating parchments.Everything moved with purpose every single thing felt alive."...How many people work here?" Ray asked quietly.Aria continued walking without looking back."Within this branch?" She thought for a moment. "Close to eight thousand.""...Eight thousand?" He repeated as he stopped walking."And this is only one Sector." Kael chuckled."The Union has branches across every major city." Lucian added. "It existed long before either of us arrived.""This world just keeps getting bigger..." Ray said looking around again.Lily, who had spent mos

The crystal pulsed slowly, rhythmically even like the heartbeat of something alive."This is the crystal of Orgins?" Ray asked.Mira nodded. "It predates the Adventurer Union. The oldest records claim it was recovered shortly after the fracture." She added. "No one truly understands who created it, but it has never once given a false reading.""If you possess an authority, it will identify it," Aria added crossing her hands. "If you've awakened mana, it will measure your realm.""And if your soul carries a legacy." She paused. "It will know ."".... I don't like this," Lucian spoke quietly."....Neither do u," kael agreed.Ray frowned. "I thought you'd both be curious.""We are," Lucian answered. "But curiosity and caution often walk together."An elderly man in deep blue robes suddenly stepped forward from beside the crystal. His long silver beard reached nearly to his waist, and a monocle rested over his left eye. Despite his age, his back remained perfectly straight."Captain Valen

"Alright I think we all should just camp here tonight, it's already to late," Aria added. "first thing tomorrow morning we get on our way."Yeah great idea, I'm already too exhausted to walk anymore." Ray replied........Morning arrived quietly. The clearing looked different in daylight, broken branches deep claw marks and bandits bound together with strips of torn cloth. The little girl slept peacefully against a fallen log, exhausted after everything she'd endured.Nearby, Ray sat staring at the coin-sized black fragment that had dissolved into his body hours earlier. He still couldn't understand it, neither could Lucian nor Kael."...Any idea what happened?" he asked."...None," Lucian admitted."If that truly was a System Fragment..." Kael said, he's voice unusually thoughtful "...It shouldn't have reacted to you."Footsteps approached before anyone could continue. It was Aria, she spent most of the night questioning the surviving bandits one by one.She was now holding a worn l

" I think there's been some sort of a misunderstanding here," Ray said as he slowly raised both hands."There has!" Aria replied calmly. "My mistake was assuming you would surrender peacefully.""... That's... That's not what I meant." Ray replied. The little girl suddenly stepped forward from behind him."No..no," she said spreading her tiny arms. "He saved me!"Aria's blue eyes shifted toward the child and her expression softened, slightly."...Come here child." Aria said."N-No!" The child replied, shaking her head violently. "He isn't bad!"Aria frowned. "Stockholm conditioning?"".... Seriously?!" Ray blinked Kael laughed so hard Ray almost lost his focus. "I like her, I really do like this one.""Ooh my! Please don't," Lucian sighed.Aria's gaze returned to Ray. "Six armed men," she said pointing toward the unconscious bandits.. th n towards the broken trees. " You, destroyed terrain."Then her eyes settled on the strange mana still drifting around his body. Gold, crimson, blac

Ray slowly stood up, his hands instinctively tightened into a fist. The little girl trembled behind him, her tiny finger clutching the back of his torn out shirt so tightly that they almost hurt."P.... Please...." She cried out, her voice barely audible. "Don't let them take me back please I beg of you..."Ray narrowed his eyes. "They're not soldiers." He said.."No!" Lucian answered quietly."But theyre organized," kael spoke next. "Watch their formation.Ray looked carefully. The crossbowmen had already spread apart, the spearman stood slightly behind the leader and the swordsmen slowly circled outward.."... They're surrounding us." Lucian pointed out."They killed Mama..." The little girl manage to voice as she hid further behind him. "And they.... They laughed..." Those words spiked something inside Ray "Enough now," the leader sighed dramatically as he pointed his axe towards the child. "Hand over the brat, and we might just make your death quick.""...No." Ray replied calmly

"...Lucian!" Has this happen before, Ray whispered. "Has this happened before?""No..!" Lucian replied without hesitation. "Never.""My system would never reject a command." Kael added with his voice usually low."Neither would mine."Just then, another crack spread across both interface.--------------[WARNING...]Conflicting Primary Quests Detected...Resolving Priority...Golden text flashed.Protect the child.Immediately, crimson letters slashed across it.Eliminate the bandits. The two commands collided and the interface glitched violently........Priority Conflict:Hero.exe refuses override.Villain.exe refuses override.Attempting forced resolution.........FAILED-----------------"...Failed?" Lucian murmured."That's impossible," Kael added."So... Now what?" Ray asked as he looked from one window to the other His eyes narrowed. "Wait..." He said as he reopened both quests. His gaze lingered on the tiny map currently displaying in each notification The Hero quest marke
