2026-06-19 14:10:16A golden light grew so bright, so bright it illuminated the entire environment until Daniel's eyes popped open. Right in front of him, were golden texts hanging mid air.

Daniel almost freaked out. "I have finally lost it, haven't I?"
"Is this supposed to be my gateway to heaven?"
The door to the room opened up, Daniel saw past the golden text and a doctor had stepped in—Mid forties, adorned by a white coat and glasses.
It was then Daniel looked around and saw that he was actually in a hospital and not heaven.
But how?
"Good morning Mr. Hayes, glad to see you're awake." He said without making eye contact, his gaze was on the monitor. "How's the pain?"
Pain?
What pain?
Daniel also felt something, it shouldn't be possible, Infact, it shouldn't be at all.
Daniel felt he could move his other hand as if Victor never crushed it!
"Impossible!" Daniel gasped, brandishing the sight of his hand.
The doctor was slightly confused at his reaction. "What do you mean by Impossible Mr. Hayes?"
"Oh" Daniel kept his hand. "It's nothing actually, I don't feel any sort of pain, maybe a little?"
"I'll have the nurse change your medication then. You've gotten better."
But, something was still bugging him. "How long have I been here?"
"Four to five days? you were brought here on the night of the storm, actually, you were admitted into one of the wards and nobody knew, I thought you would be able to tell me when you woke up."
'What?' Daniel found it hard to believe. He looked up, and saw that the golden text was still there.
"Is there anyone you might need us to contact?" The doctor asked while he was arranging the medication.
"No."
"Family?"
"No."
"Friend or maybe a girlfriend?"
Daniel heaved a sigh. "No... there's no one Doctor."
The doctor was surprised at first but no ounce of sympathy whatsoever.
"That's alright then, the accountant will be here tomorrow to discuss your bill."
Daniel raised his brow. Bill?
"How much?"
"Well considering the medication you were given and your abrupt appearance in the hospital I can't say how long you've been within this walls---"
"The bill..." Daniel's voice was stern, he had no interest in the story.
"Well I'll say, Around a hundred thousand but I wouldn't advise you to start worrying about the payment, you should get some rest."
With that, Daniel forced a smile and looked away. The doctor also left.
Daniel gaze lingered on the glass windows long enough to remember the Hayes, a group of hungry vultures.
He remembered that night like it had just happened a few moments ago.
Victor's mother got a beach house.
The Eldest son, his brother, Marcus got the main office building.
Grandchildren got a bunch of stocks worth millions, Daniel adjusted his collars, sweat tickled down his head.
His aunt got large properties in Manhattan,
His uncles got large shares across several properties
His dad got a huge amount of retirement funds which meant he'd never need to work again.
Victor, his cousin got about three business organisations to himself, not only that, he got a card that had about a trillion dollars in it. If that wasn't enough, all the sports cars got handed to him.
He remembered it clearly but Victor... authority over faction X wasn't handed over to him, if Victor wasn't the new head of Faction X then who?

Daniel snapped, he had forgotten about the golden text resting above him.

Daniel ran his hand across his hair. He didn't want to believe a thing but his healed hands? That was more than enough.
