HIS MARRIAGE

A disgusted look played on Isabella's face as she heard the words from

Steven's mouth. The way his eyes looked her up and down gave her an eerie feeling as he licked his lower lips.

A smile curved on

Steven's face as he looked down at her. Judging from the mini skirt and shirt she had on, the only job he found befitting to her was room attendant.

He needed no one to tell him how difficult it must be to get a job at sky castle hotel so he figured she must have laid down her body to get the job.

He took out his wallet and forced a few hundred dollars into her hands. "Your time's not now baby girl, just wait and let me finish up with that bloody bastard."

Isabella frowned. What the hell did he take her for? She threw his money back at him as rage filled her up. "What exactly do you think you are doing? Mr West is a good friend of mine and I advise you to withdraw before I ask you to be thrown out." Her tone was as cold and deadly as sharp icicles.

Michael was completely silent still wearing an expression as calm as ever.

Steven eyed them both and suddenly burst into hysterical laughter. He even had to clap his hands to add a more dramatic effect to it. "Oh I get it now! No wonder you accepted to divorce my sister so easily because I mean I wondered how you could just let go of her just like that!"

"What nonsense are you babbling about?" Michael finally spoke up.

"Stop pretending like you don't understand me, you good for nothing trash bag! You've gotten yourself a new bitch already, how interesting." He chortled loudly.

"Watch your tongue

Steven, I won't hold back because of Clara when you overstep your boundaries. Never should you speak to Isabella like that." His eyes held a glare that made

Steven feel uncomfortable as his words diced through him like a blade.

If glares could kill then

Steven would be dead by now.

"You dare talk to me in such a manner? I'll teach you respect if that's what you lack you asshole!"

Steven exclaimed as he lunged an attack towards Michael.

Before he could land his blow, Michael grabbed his hand and bent it backwards, causing him to cry out from the pain.

Effortlessly and as swift as ever, he sent

Steven flying with only a single punch to his gut.

A young lady whom Michael later realized to be

Steven's girlfriend ran towards him and crouched beside him in fear. "Babe! Are you okay?!"

It felt like

Steven's insides were about to escape through his mouth as he clung on to this stomach.

Isabella smirked, how foolish of him to try to attack Michael. She had seen him fight and she knew he was good for him to beat up Mia without even trying.

Michael let out a sigh. "How despicable." He thought out loud. How could he so shamelessly try to flirt with another woman when he was in the same place?!

"What?!"

Steven barked. "How--how dare you look down on me?" He grunted from the pain. "I will destroy you! You good for nothing bastard!"

"It seems you forget that your sister and I have divorced. I used to hold back because of her but now I won't hesitate to kill you if you ever mess with me again." As cool as ice but as deadly as a blade, Michael's words caused

Steven to shiver.

There was something in his cold glare that made

Steven believe he would actually kill him like he said. His eyes landed on Isabella. "Room attendant, call your manager right now! I want to speak to whoever is in charge!"

"Room attendant?" Isabella let her eyes roll skyward. 'So that is what he thinks I am', she thought to herself.

Waving the security team over, she pointed at

Steven. "Get this man out of here, if he ever comes back to this property again, you're free to use violence."

The men nodded their heads and crowded around

Steven to lead him outside.

"I am a Robert , you cannot treat me this way! You will pay for what you are doing, you spoiled brat!"

Steven spat out angrily.

Isabella arched her brow. Robert ? She crossed her arms below her breast with a slight chuckle. "Robert ? You don't say. Even your grandfather keeps his head down around me and you think you can make a threat to me? Throw him out already."

The guards nodded their heads and did as they were told.

She turned towards Michael with an apologetic gaze. "I sincerely apologize for what just happened."

Michael shook his head. "This is not your fault at all."

She gave him a smile of assurance. "I promise you that such a thing will never happen again. Shall we go see your room now?"

She led Michael to his room and collected his details before leaving Sky Castle with Mia.

Michael soaked himself for a few minutes before moving into the bedroom. He stared out the window as thoughts passed through his mind.

His marriage with Clara was over for real now and he had nothing to do with her family anymore. For the past three years, he had done all he could to play the part of a good husband to her but now that it was over, it was time for a new start.

It was due time he lived his own life.

His phone began vibrating and he picked it up from the table. He questioned whether to answer the call or not as Clara's grandfather's name displayed on the screen.

The only man that ever treated him like family in the entire Robert family.

Perhaps the man was calling to inquire about his divorce with Clara if word had caught his ear.

He told himself there was no need to ignore his call so he slid across the screen to answer it. "Hello grandfather."

"Ash my boy!" The old man replied as energetic as ever. "How are you doing?"

Michael felt he hadn't known about the divorce yet so he wouldn't bring it up. "I'm good grandfather and I trust you are as well."

"Of course. I want you and Clara to come visit me tonight, I have something important to tell you."

Michael swallowed at the man's words. "Uh grandfather, I think Clara won't have the time to spare."

"Nonsense! She always has time for me. Come over okay?"

He would go then, and tell him about their divorce when Clara arrived. "Okay sir."

Meanwhile,

Clara adjusted in her seat as she and Liam waited patiently for Mr Donald to join them in the waiting room.

As the man walked in, both of them jumped to their feet but he offered them their seats. "Welcome to my humble abode." He said to them with a meek smile.

Liam took the lead. "Thank you for having us Mr Donald. This is Clara Robert and uh we come bearing a gift, shipped all the way from India."

Clara knew that was her cue and she presented the herbal concoction to him.

Liam continued. "We are aware that your daughter is laid back by a serious illness so we paid a fortune to bring this to you. Back in India, they call it a magic drink because it works like magic." He said with a smile.

As he opened the lid of the container, a pleasing aroma like different flowers were mixed together with herb root filled the air.

Mr Donald was not a bit impressed. If his daughter wasn't yet to be healed, he would be shaking beside himself and thanking them profusely but now he had no need of it.

Liam and Clara froze in the fear of his reaction. Perhaps Mr Donald wasn't pleased with their gift? If that be so then they were doomed.

Mr Donald laid back in his chair and gave Clara a glance. "Mrs Robert ?"

"Ms. Robert ." She sat up straight in her seat and gave him her best smile.

"Tell me, why have you visited me today bearing gifts? And don't tell me there's no reason behind this kind gesture because I won't believe it." Mr Donald inquired with a watchful gaze.

Liam spoke in her place. "Actually... Robert and co. is only trying to get a partnership with you sir. We are aware of the new project your company is up to."

Mr Donald grunted. He hadn't even heard of the company he just mentioned. "How am I to be sure you can push my project to success?"

Clara was pleased with his question. "I promise you that my company is beyond capable. I have only partnered with Brian international corp up until recently."

Mr Donald was taken aback by her words. Someone from Thom Brian? He suddenly felt the need to respect her. "Oh I see, how delightful. Let us talk on a better occasion. Sky castle is hosting a party and I would be delighted to have you as my guest."

Clara lit up on hearing those words. It was as good as him accepting her proposal.

On their way out, she kept thanking Liam profusely for his help. "I wouldn't have been able to do it without you."

Liam only gave her a smile. "No need to thank me. Let's go then, I booked us a suit to stay for the night and then maybe we can catch up and have some fun."

Fun? She was pretty sure she wasn't up for that kind of fun just yet. She had only just divorced her husband.

Her phone rang and after answering the call, she was thankful for an excuse to bail on him. "My grandfather has asked to see me for something important, let's save the fun for some other day.”

  • WHEN THE CIRCLE COMES TO FULL POINT

They were in a house on the beachfront of Beaumont city. It was a little far from the beach but had fantastic view of the beach and the sea. The sun had risen early, as usual and there were few tourists on the beach.Steven was shocked and raised his hands but felt a surge of anger within him but he didn’t move. Instead he stood where he was. The other men had pulled out their guns too. Liam knew he was outnumbered to pull out his gun, so he appealed for calm.‘Please gentle men; let us be civil about his. The diamond belongs to all of us but we have bigger fish to fry and that is Michael west. Today is the day that we take his down at the Heroes’ Parade. After that, there will be more diamonds and money that our children will never know hunger for the rest of their lives. Let us embrace caution.’There was silence again before the first of the men who pulled out his gun began to laugh out loud. The rest joined him and started laughing. They raised their hands in surrender and put the

  • COLORS OF HATRED

Liam returned to his drinking, taking a sip while stealing glances at the game. A moment later, he turned to his friend, he found him looking smugly at his glass of drink.“Talk to me Nel. What’s going on? If it is about the listings, we got in and that should not be a problem.”“It is not about the listing, bro. It is something else. I guess you haven’t heard.”“Heard what?” Liam was signaling the barista for another drink.“Wells is being devalued.”Liam looked at him, saw the seriousness on his face, and waved for the barista to go. Realization hit him and he mumbled.“AB listings was just a cover. The wolves have gathered and want to have a feast.”Nelson nodded and added,“Whatever you do, don’t go face to face with the execs on Wall Street. They will kill your case before you even get a chance to present it.”“What do I do then?”“Be calm, receive the buy-out offer, and look through it carefully to find a way out. It could be an ambiguity in the words or misrepresentation. That

  • THE COMING

The knock came again, it was on his door. Who would be coming to his house? He had no friends or lovers? And Isabella had stopped speaking with him. Grudgingly, he walked to the door and opened. It was Isabella. Unlatching the locks quickly, he opened wide the door and bade her to come in.‘You are welcome. I am sorry I have been engrossed in a lot of work and didn’t hear the knocking on the door. How have you been?’Michael was not sure why Isabella would suddenly appear at this door without notice. Had something happened to her father? He thought to himselfShe smiled at him and tugged a loose strand of hair behind her ear. He smiled too. They were both standing in the centre of the room, uncertain what to do. Michael suddenly remembered that he had not offered her a seat. He was being a bad host.‘I am very sorry; I should have offered you a seat. Please have a seat.’‘No, its fine. I should be headed out now and allow you to finish up on your work.’‘Not so fast. • SUBTERFUGE

The officer in charge walked briskly along the corridor. Liam and Steven followed behind staunchly, confident in their steps. The officer knocked on a door. A voice responded from inside.‘Come in.’The officer opened the door and stepped aside for the two men to step inside. Then he stepped outside and closed the door. The office was sparse, except for a few standing cabinets and picture frames on the wall; one was for the president of the country and the other was of the mayor of Beaumont city. There were other picture frames that showed the commissioner receiving awards. The commissioner’s desk stood on the far end on the other side of the room, directly opposite the door. ‘Mr Liam. Good to see you again.’ the man behind the desk stood up and walked over to where Steven and Liam stood. ‘Ah commissioner, it has been a while that we have spoken or seen.’ Liam responded.‘Ah yes.’ The commissioner said. ‘to what do I owe this honour?’‘I am here to an old friend concerning a matter.

  • SECRETS AND SPECULATIONS

Michael returned to the living room. He and Isabella discussed the cost of living crises and what the government should do. Isabella thought to herself, ‘so he heals and is intelligent too. What a good combination.’ She likes his use of words and the way he lays out his point carefully. ‘Let us stop now. Enough of politics and talk. Let us go and have some food.’Isabella laughed, dropped what she was holding on the table and walked with him to the table. The food was in bowls and plates sat in front of ach of the chairs, together with cutlery, the bottle of wine and glasses.Michael drew back her chair for her and allowed her to sit. Then he went over to his side. Opening the bowl, he dished some food for her before dishing for himself. He was telling her about the food and the process it takes to make it.
