"How could this woman's slap hurt me? Me, a Level 110 Grand Fighter!"

Fresh blood seeped from Seto's split lip, steadily dripping down onto the collar of his leather jacket. His eyes bulged in wild terror as he stared at the gorgeous woman before him.

Elena's slap had been no ordinary strike; it was a burst of raw, concentrated power that had shattered the defenses of a seasoned fighter like him.

"Level 110? That's fairly high. Even higher than me," Elena remarked casually, flicking the ends of her silver hair.

"Huh?"

Seto looked up hesitantly, his neck creaking like rusted hinges. His gaze locked onto Elena's eyes, which were as cold as polar ice.

Elena flashed a captivating smile dripping with lethal mockery. The surrounding air instantly thickened, turning heavy and suffocating. A fraction of her majestic mana leaked out, visibly warping the space around her.

Unseen ripples of force caused the overhead string lights to rattle violently, several bulbs bursting in showers of sparks. Beneath Elena's boots, fine cracks spiderwebbed across the paving stones, unable to bear the crushing weight of her mana.

"What a pity. You picked the wrong opponent."

Ding!

A crisp chime broke the tension. A translucent, silver-glowing panel materialized, floating before Elena's chest.

Seto tried to push himself up on trembling hands, but his knees buckled, smacking right back against the ground. Breath catching in his throat, he stared at the character status window before him.

The next second, his body shook uncontrollably as he read the words glowing in pure gold: Mage Queen. Cold sweat poured down his temples, stinging as it washed over the throbbing bruise on his cheek.

"How is that possible? An apex class...?" His voice trembled violently, caught in his throat as if squeezed by an invisible hand, yet it carried clearly enough to the curious onlookers gathering around us. Anxious murmurs rippled through the crowd like wildfire.

Gina went deathly pale, shaking all over after seeing Elena's class. She gripped her miniskirt so hard her knuckles turned white.

"An apex class? Then—"

"Kael~." Elena shot me a playful glance, leaning casually against me.

I opened my character status for everyone to see. With a flick of my finger, a brilliant golden panel flared to life, putting my Spear King class on full display right in front of Gina's face.

"I don't like showing off, but if that's what it takes to get it through your heads, so be it," I said flatly, crossing my arms over my chest.

"No way... You're supposed to have a low-tier class... And what's with that level? You were level one just the other day!" Gina tugged wildly at her long hair, unraveling under the crushing weight of reality.

Her knees finally gave out. She collapsed onto the gravelly ground, scraping her skin bloody. Beating her fists against the earth, tears streamed down her haggard cheeks. The truth was simply too brutal for her mind to accept.

Strangely enough, watching my ex-girlfriend collapse in hysterics stirred no pity in me at all. It felt as though we were complete strangers who had never shared a past.

"Gina, this is the last time. Don't ever show your face in front of me again," I said, my voice cutting sharply into her ears.

"Hahahaha... Why is this happening to me? Why...?" Gina let out a cracked laugh through her desperate sobs, clawing at the pavement with broken, bleeding nails.

Ignoring Gina's frantic weeping, I took Elena's arm and walked out of the night amusement park without looking back.

The crowd parted to make way for us, every pair of eyes fixed on us with awe and profound respect.

Back at Ririsa's house, we only slept together three times. It wasn't because we ran out of energy, but neither of us was really in the mood to keep going. The lingering irritation from that earlier scene was still souring our heads.

In the end, we spent more of that night sleeping than anything else. What we didn't know was that the internet was already catching fire over a video of us.

Someone had posted footage of the altercation, and it was setting online forums ablaze. The comment sections were swamped with hundreds of thousands of messages from stunned netizens buzzing about the sudden emergence of a new Mage Queen and Spear King.

High-ranking military officials even began pulling files on us at the city defense headquarters, though we wouldn't learn about that until days later.

The next day, we challenged another D-rank dungeon to test our progress.

The moment the portal sealed shut behind us, Elena vented her foul mood on the boss lurking in the deepest floor. The boss room, a cavernous stone hall, shook violently as a six-meter-tall horned reef golem dropped from the ceiling.

The colossal beast let out a feral roar that dislodged jagged stalactites from above. It charged forward with thunderous steps, swinging a spiked stone club straight for Elena's head. The sheer gale from the swing tore into the ground, gouging a gaping trench before it.

Yet Elena didn't flinch in the slightest. Taking a single step forward, her gaze turned ice-cold. She had been finishing off every single boss with just one lethal spell.

The staff in her hand flared with a blinding glow. Two massive violet magic circles ignited across the cavern ceiling, raining down a surging torrent of lightning and hellfire that slammed directly into the boss's chest.

A deafening explosion erupted, shattering nearby stone pillars and pulverizing falling stalactites into fine dust. The giant club smashed against the rock wall and shattered to pieces. In a matter of seconds, the monster's body was split in two and dissolved into pitch-black ash.

I didn't get a turn at all, but as long as it helped calm Elena down, I was more than happy to kick back and watch her from behind.

Elena had been in a bad mood since yesterday. Watching her stand over the pile of monster ash with her lips still pouted in annoyance, I thought to myself, 'I should've slapped Gina and Seto too. Maybe that would've made her feel better.'

After selling off the day's dungeon loot at the Association, we headed home along the city streets as usual.

Oh, right—we weren't E-rank hunters anymore; we were D-rank. We had been promoted yesterday after clearing multiple D-rank dungeons in record time.

Plenty of hunters were stunned by our unnatural growth rate, and some even suspected us of being wealthy trust-fund brats showing off by hiring high-level escorts. We simply tuned out their envious murmurs.

During dinner, Elena was still visibly sullen. Her spoon merely stirred her corn soup without the slightest intention of eating it, which earned me a sharp glare from Ririsa demanding an immediate explanation. Her round eyes narrowed suspiciously at me from across the table.

I briefly explained last night's scene to Ririsa. She let out a long sigh and passed the baton to me with a resigned nod.

In the dimly lit bedroom, I pulled Elena into an embrace from behind and kissed her soft, fragrant hair.

"Come on, don't dwell on it anymore. Gina and Seto are just irrelevant background characters in our lives."

Elena tilted her head up from my chest, blinking her lovely eyes. "Huh? I think you've misunderstood something."

"What do you mean?" I asked hesitantly, noticing the flush spreading across her face.

Elena deftly turned around and sat right on my lap, pressing her soft chest against mine. The warmth of her smooth skin pressed intimately against my body.

Her gorgeous face was flushed deep crimson, and her heartbeat picked up so fast I could feel it racing right alongside mine.

Her smile looked as sweet and captivating as always, but strangely, the hair stood up on the back of my neck. A sense of foreboding washed over me.

"I'm not bothered by your ex-girlfriend anymore," she whispered softly inches from my face, idly toying with the buttons on my pajamas.

"Really? Then why have you been in such a bad mood all day?" I asked, genuinely curious.

Elena's smile broadened, turning wild and predatory. My dread deepened—especially when I saw her pupils reshape into glowing pink hearts in the bedroom's dim light.

"Want to know why?" she teased, her whisper laced with a dangerous seduction.

Seeing the hungry gleam in her eyes, my throat suddenly went dry. "Nope. I already figured it out."

Elena chuckled at my surrender. "Hehehe. In that case, you already know what you have to do."

Taking a deep breath, I nodded and pushed her down onto the mattress, pinning her securely in place.

To get Elena back in good spirits, we made love all through the night, never letting the bed stop shaking. A sweltering heat filled the room as our energies merged, igniting into a relentless blaze.

I lost count of how many times we crested together, leaving the sheets a tangled mess. What was clear was that we finally broke through to Level 100 that night, confirmed by the system notification panel flashing brightly in midair.

At three in the morning, when we were finally done, I faintly heard someone else's ragged breathing from behind our firmly shut bedroom door.

To be continued...
