The waiter, who didn't know what Joshua was talking about, shrugged his shoulders.

Joshua, recalling who he should be talking to, cast an appreciative smile at him before he exited the hall.

As he approached the entrance of the room, the waiter had directed him to. Joshua met the gaze of Brittany, Ginny, and her friends, who immediately rolled their eyes upon seeing him.

Ignoring their behavior, he continued into the room, but before he could reach for the doorknob, Brittany blocked his way.

"You can't go in there, Joshua. The family is having important conversations with the guest," she said, looking down at her phone.

Joshua furrowed his brow. He knew she wanted to make things hard for him, and he should have expected the twin would eventually make a scene.

Joshua let out a patient sigh and adjusted his gaze between the sisters. “The governor requested to see me, Brittany, so please move aside,” he said.

When he noticed that she wasn’t even listening. He was about to go around her when Ginny also blocked his path.

However, not in the mood for their disrespectful antics, Joshua pushed his way through the gap between them, causing both of them to stagger back with wide eyes.

Their friend watching the scene gasps in surprise, prompting the twin's face to twitch in anger. “How dare you! Are you mad?” Brittany yelled.

“You bastards!” Ginny followed. “Come back here!” She growled.

“I thought you said he is a liability. Why is your family tolerating that fool?!” Joshua heard Brittany's friend whisper.

“Don't worry it all ends tonight!” Brittany yelled so he could hear her, but he ignored them and opened and shut the door behind him.

Everyone, ranging from his in-laws to his wife, turns in his direction. Joshua's gaze quickly sweeps through the room. The governor wasn't in the room, but the man he didn't recognize caught his attention as his hands were wrapped around Elizabeth's waist.

“Who are you?” the man asked.

Before he could reply, his mother-in-law chipped in. “Mark, this is the liability I was telling you about,” she said, narrowing a disdainful gaze at Joshua, who was caught off guard by her response.

The man, understanding what Mrs. Marshall meant, nodded his head with a smirk. “You must be Elizabeth's husband, huh?” He asked, and Joshua could hear the mockery dripping from his tone.

Joshua's body stiffened with cold and anger. His eyes lingered on the man's hands around his wife's waist, and she wasn't pushing away from him.

Joshua forced out a smile and nodded his head. “I am,” he replied, and with a long stride, he closed the space between them, tossing the man's hands from Elizabeth.

Everyone in the room gasps in surprise. Elizabeth's brow knitted into a frown while her parents' gaze daggered at him.

“Why are you being rude to our guests?!” Mrs. Marshall's familiar tone filled the room, but Joshua ignored her.

Mr.Marshall quickly cast an apologetic gaze at Mark. “I'm sorry for my son-in-law's behavior, he didn't know who you were,” he said.

Mark, holding Joshua's gaze with a smirk, nodded his head. “The money has been transferred to the new account you told me about. The governor and I wish your business plan prosperity,” he added, meeting Joshua’s gaze with another smile.

Understanding his in-laws had made changes to his event and the account the investors were donating their money to. Joshua cast an angry look at his in-laws, wearing a guilty look.

“W…We need to talk,” she whispers before Joshua can mutter any words. She walked past him, and when Joshua stared at his in-law with disappointment, Elizabeth glanced back at him. “Now!”

Without a word, he made his way to the exit where Elizabeth had disappeared. The room where she had chosen to have their conversation was quiet. The moment Joshua shuts the door, Elizabeth's expression changes. “What the hell are you doing there?!” She yelled.

Joshua, caught off guard by her outburst, stares at her with a stunned expression. “What are you talking about? I went there to see the governor, who requested my attention,” Joshua replied, swallowing the pain of the scene. “I got there to see a man intimately holding my wife!”

Elizabeth, hearing his response, scoffed. “You wanted to see the governor? Who do you think you are? You want to see an important guest without my family's approval?!” She retorted, making his stunned expression evident.

“Why would I ask for permission, Elizabeth? Apart from being your husband, this event was organized by me to support my business idea to benefit the family,” Joshua reminded, and she rolled her eyes before stepping forward.

“Did you say support?” She laughed, but Joshua remained silent. “How can someone like you help my family when you're a nobody!” she spouted, making a lump drop down his throat.

Though his wife's family was not related to him by blood, he has always considered them as his and has supported them even when they didn't regard him as one.

“In case you have forgotten, this event was organized by nobody who had always supported your family!” Joshua replied, hiding the hurt in his voice.

Elizabeth erupted into another wild laugh. “Do you think those VIPs would have attended your party if my family name had not been mentioned?!” She asked defensively.

Joshua, who wasn't ready to disclose how he got the VIP to attend sighed. “I did all this for us, and yet—”

“There was a meeting in the lodge,” Elizabeth interrupted, her expression not caring what he was going to say. “My family has come to a conclusion,” she added, making Joshua furrow his brow in confusion.

“What do you mean by that?”

Elizabeth, without a response, pulled out a paper from her purse and tossed it at him. “The bank gave me this,” she responded.

Joshua ran his gaze through the paper, which displayed the only assets in his name.

“What is this? Why is there one thousand dollars under my name?” Joshua asked, finally resting his gaze on her.

Elizabeth, without a reply, pulled out another envelope and tossed it to him. “That's the share my lawyer divided for you,” she said, and Joshua's eyes fell on the first word on the other paper.

“Divorce!” The words slipped out of his mouth. “What the hell is this, Elizabeth!” Joshua's throat tightened as the words left his mouth.

Julie met her brother’s piercing gaze with a calm, emotionless expression. Despite his irritated tone and confrontational attitude, she remained still and silent, showing no signs of surprise or remorse.“And you—” Mr. Paul paused as if recognizing the face of Joshua. “You're that man from the lobby. I thought I told you to place a ban on him?!”Mrs. Felicia glanced at Joshua, whose eyes panned outside the transparent wall of the room. He was calm, too calm, so that when he finally glanced at the board members' direction, uncertainty instantly crept into their faces. “Call security—”“That's enough,” Joshua's authoritative voice growls. Everyone in the room snapped their heads in his direction. Mr. Cedric instantly dropped to his chair with wide eyes.Paul, who hadn't come across Don Cara except in the lobby, scoffed.“Do you know who you're talking to?!” he yelled, clenching his fist. “Get me security now!” He snapped at Mrs. F

Meanwhile, inside the SC conference room, a group of fourteen board members gathered, seated in hierarchical order with individual tags displaying their names and official titles. Unlike the seven continental staff meetings, which included a wider array of participants, this annual gathering was limited to the board of directors.A normal meeting would be characterized by subtle whispers and opinions, but this was notably silent, so silent that the only movement was from a man seated at the far end of the room. He nodded his head slowly with a smile spreading across his lips.“It seems like neither one of you is willing to make the hard decision,” the voice of Mr. Paul lingered through the silence. Each member, hearing his words, remained quiet with their collar high. The look on their faces made Paul's lips stretch into a grin.It was the first time he had seen the board stunned into silence at the mention of a replacement, which gave a hint that there had never been one. “B… But Ms. Felicia, you have to understand, though you are my superior,” the lady paused, narrowing a forced smile towards Joshua. “I have experience in these kinds of matters, so trust me when I say this man shouldn't be your priority," she added, hoping to convey her point.Felicia's expression hardened as she tilted her head to meet the woman’s eyes. “Like you said, I am your superior, and I will not tolerate insubordination. If you ever undermine my authority again, there will be consequences!” The gravity of her words hung in the air, sending chills down the spines of the other staff. The lady with a stunned expression nodded and then shrank back. The young receptionist, seeing her boss's expression, forced down a lump. “L…let me take down your details,” she said.“That won't be necessary,” Felicia quickly added, then turned to Joshua. “This way, sir,” she added, directing him towards the elevator. The other staff, seeing the scene, whispered in silence, with the horror of the

The elevator doors slid shut, leaving a few lingering gazes on Joshua. Ignoring their curious stares, he strode toward the receptionist's desk. Although Joshua had a secret access card tucked away in the right pocket, which would grant him entry to any floor, he decided not to use it. Instead, he slid into the crowd, weaving through the line until he reached the front. The young woman with dark hair styled back into a bun barely looked up from her computer screen. “Hello, how can I help you?” “I would like to speak with whoever is in charge,” he replied, a hint of urgency lacing his words. The thought of using his card crossed his mind again, but he brushed it off. With his earlier encounter with Paul, he believes there is already a face ban on him and that he would trigger security if he were spotted. The lady, struggling to comprehend what he was saying, finally looked away from her screen to focus on him. “I’m sorry, sir, but could you please repeat that?” she said, adjusting

The sound of broken furniture echoed through the room, followed by a heavy silence that lingered among the men watching their colleague, who whimpered in pain."I think he broke my bone!" The man whimpered in pain.Joshua, towering above the crumpled figure, pulled his cold gaze from the man to the other men, who remained shocked at the scene. Their smirk, that has once adorned their faces, was nowhere to be found. Joshua adjusted his clothes before stepping forward. “Which other one of you laid a finger on him?” his voice echoed through the silence. The man sitting with pliers in his hands finally stood up. He shifted his gaze from his injured colleague to the strange man standing with a question.“Who are you?” The word broke out, rolling off his lips. Joshua raised his gaze to meet the man's eyes, and with his expressionless face, he remained quiet. The silence felt heavy, almost suffocating, as if the men held their breath, waiting.
