Chapter Eight

As the elderly man walked into the ballroom, his presence commanded attention. His perfectly tailored suit hugged his lean frame, accentuating his broad shoulders and chiseled jawline. The fabric shimmered under the glow of the chandeliers, and the color was a rich shade of navy blue.

The shirt underneath his suit was crisp and white, and the tie was a deep burgundy that contrasted elegantly with the suit. His shoes were polished to a mirror-like shine, and the gleam of his gold cufflinks caught the light as he walked.

The man's face was weathered by time, with lines etched deep around his mouth and eyes. But there was a charisma in his gaze that seemed to draw people in. His hair was a silvery white, neatly combed back, and his mustache and beard were trimmed immaculately. He wore a Rolex watch on his wrist, and the diamonds on the bezel sparkled in the light.

As he made his way through the crowd, several bodyguards followed him closely. They were all tall, muscular men with stern expressions, their eyes scanning the room for any signs of danger.

The elderly man seemed to pay them no mind, walking with a confidence and ease that suggested he was used to having such protection.

People turned to watch him as he made his way through the ballroom, their conversations halting as they caught sight of the imposing figure. Some whispered excitedly to each other, wondering who he was and what he was doing here. Others simply gawked, struck by the man's commanding presence.

The elderly man stopped for a moment, his gaze scanning the room. It seemed as though he was taking everything in, sizing up the people around him. His eyes lingered on a group of young men in the corner, their laughter ringing out above the din of the music. They noticed his gaze and fell silent, their eyes darting nervously between the man and his bodyguards.

Without a word, the elderly man continued on, his bodyguards in tow. He seemed to be headed towards the back of the room, where a group of older men were gathered around a table, sipping champagne and smoking cigars but he stopped when he saw the compromising situation Elijah, Selena, Henry and Nicki were in.

“What’s going on here ?!” He asked with his powerful and authoritative baritone voice.

Henry, Selena and Nicki all kept quite looking around without saying a word, it was obvious that they were terrified of the man which surprised Elijah. Elijah noticed this sighed and stepped forward to answer the man.

“Good evening Sir, my name is Elijah and sorry about the whole drama , it’s a misunderstanding “ Elijah said curtly before extending his hands to the man for a handshake.

Everyone gasped the most , shocked that a commoner dared to stretch his hand to the 2nd richest man in the world who is rumoured to be a Quantrillionaire. His name is Godfather Roberto , people were not only scared of his money but he is also respected and feared because there are rumours that he belongs to a powerful Mafia Organization that deals with anyone that gets in his ways, plans or his business deals.

So everyone was shocked that the poor Elijah had the audacity to shake this dangerous and powerful man but Elijah was innocent and he was only being mannered by answering the man’s questions even when he doesn’t know who the man is.

Godfather Roberto looked down at the young man who had so much audacity to try and shake him.

“How dare you?” Godfather Roberto hissed , this made his bodyguards to go on alert while bringing out their guns to point at the innocent Elijah who looks confused and frustrated that he kept getting into trouble without knowing anything.

“I like your confidence and audacity but teach this man a lesson that no one dares to offer his hand as a handshake without my permission .” Godfather Roberto told his men

“Yes Sir” they chorused

“And make sure that he loses one or two fingers' ' as a little warning Godfather Roberto instructed made Elijah start sweating. He wants to fight them but they have guns and their numbers are too much for him. Besides he is innocent, Elijah’s face turned red and his heart started beating fast out of fear and horror.

The bodyguards were about to bundle Elijah away and teach him a lesson but Godfather Roberto stopped them when he noticed a familiar Camorra blackstone ring on the young man’s hands.

“Wait, leave the man alone. Elijah follow me” Godfather Roberto said which made the whole atmosphere to be more tense and charged with anticipation.

Elijah stepped back and wanted to run away but the men bundled him and took him away to a private room where Godfather Roberto went . By this time around Elijah was already soaked in sweat because he didn’t know why the dangerous man wanted to see him in private.

The imposing bodyguards, their tailored suits emphasizing their strength, closed in on him like hawks stalking their prey. With eyes filled with defiance, he struggled against their firm grip, his heart pounding in his chest.

As the bodyguards forcefully pulled Elijah through the throng of the party guests, he found himself fighting against the current, desperately searching for a way to escape his captors. The room grew distant as they ventured further into the ballroom, their footsteps echoing against the marble floor. Whispers swirled through the air, a mix of curiosity and concern, as guests paused in their merriment to observe the unfolding drama.

The young man's fingers clutched at the cuffs of his tailored suit, the fabric growing damp with sweat. His eyes darted around, frantically seeking an exit, but the bodyguards were skilled at their craft, blocking any potential escape route. Elijah’s heart sank as he realized that the path to freedom would not come easily.

The bodyguards were relentless, their expressions inscrutable masks of determination. Their strength was undeniable, their muscles taut beneath their finely tailored jackets. Elijah could feel their vice-like grip tightening around his arms, their fingers digging into his flesh, leaving a painful reminder of his helplessness.

As they approached a grandiose set of double doors at the back of the ballroom, Alexander's heart skipped a beat. The private room awaited, shrouded in mystery and intrigue. The doors swung open, revealing a hidden underground room.

“Excuse me Sir but I am innocent and I don’t know why you’re doing this to me “

“You can’t take me away without my permission!”

“I am innocent and I won’t let this slide if anything happens to me , you can’t go around bullying innocent people just because you have money and Power” Elijah kept complaining to the bodyguards and Godfather Roberto but they ignored him as they bundled him away like a piece of sack.

“Oh my goodness, what is happening?!” Selena said with a shaky voice while her hands trembled

“I told you that he is a fraud and a scammer . I am pretty sure that Godfather Roberto will teach him a valuable lesson” Henry said with an egoistic attitude and a smile on his face , he didn’t feel bad or any remorse.

“Well, looks like someone will help me teach that poor brother-in-law of mine a lesson, '' Nicki said nonchalantly.

“How can you both be this wicked and evil? We should help him!” Selena said with tears already rolling down her sensitive face.

“Why are you crying ? I thought you hate him for ruining your future “ Nicki asked Selena

“He didn’t ruin my future . I have a feeling we were trapped but that’s not my problem now , I might hate him but he is a human being and I don’t want him to die. You know how ruthless Godfather Roberto can be , he is untouchable “ Selena complained while pacing up and down.

No one cared to save or worry about Elijah , only Selena kept looking at the door where they took Elijah too, a lot of time kept passing and Elijah was still not yet out.

“Why is it taking so much time ?” Selena complained , Selena knew that calling grandfather Clinton will be a waste of time because he can’t go against Godfather Roberto because he needs his support and loyalty during the upcoming presidential elections.

“Maybe Godfather Roberto slaughtered him into pieces already and they are trying to find ways to dispose his body parts ”Henry said with a big grin while sipping his 3rd glass of red wine, feeling totally unbothered.
